The tour was over and I was standing in my apartment. Everything was so… lonely. I had been living so close with people for a few weeks now and now… Now I was standing alone, in my apartment and the only thing I had planned was a meeting with a producer in a few days. I was nervous. Really fucking nervous.

"Hey love, how are you?" my mother asked when I called her.
"Hi mom, and I’m fine. Just got back from tour" I said.
"So the tour is over now.. What are you going to do now?" she asked.
"I’m meeting with a producer in a few days, he liked one of my songs" I said and smiled a little.
"A producer? Are you sure about that?" she asked.
"Yes mom, i’m sure about that" I answered her.
"and what about that boy you liked? How are things going with him?" she asked.
"Fine I guess, but right now… there’s kinda two boys in my life, I like the first one better but the second one is kinda nice too" I said.
"Two boys? Mairin… Please don’t play with them" she said.
"No, I’m not going to do that" I said and laughed.
"You better not" she said and sighed.

I walked into the office and the man before me was a short, bald, man with a beard. Or maybe I should call it a long stubble. He looked at me and then he smiled.
"Kim Bishop" he said and held out his hand.
"Mairin Reed" I said and shook his hand. He had a firm grip, and his hands was warm.
"So Mairin, or do you want to be called something else?" he asked.
"Rin is fine" you said.
"Rin then… I’ve heard your song that Austin and Tino sent in and I like it. You have potential of becoming something big. I feel it" he said.
"Thank you sir" I said.
"Don’t call me sir, you can call me Kim" he said and smiled.
"Okay then… Kim" I said and smiled, and he chuckled.
"I would like to know more about what kind of music you like, what instruments you are playing and I would like to hear you sing here… Not the song I’ve heard, but maybe… something else?" he asked.
"oh.. okay" I said and swallowed. What kind of music did I like?
"Tell me your top 5 favorite musicians or bands" he said and looked a bit amused. He looked curious as well.
"My top five? Well… One favorite will always be Elliott Smith, you know… Somebody that I used to know, Needle in the hay and Say Yes?" I asked.
"I know who he is, and he was a really good musician" he said and nodded.
"i like his lyrics and his voice, there is something about it that… just speaks to me" I said. He nodded and wrote it down.
"And the others?" he asked.
"I guess I really like Macklemore, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis" I said and shrugged.
"And why is that?" he asked and wrote it down.
"I really like his lyrics and the meaning behind them, they have… power" I said and smiled, and he looked a bit surprised. Then he nodded.
"And third?" he asked.
"This is going to sound weird I guess… but Of Mice and Men have become one of my favorites, because of the lyrics and how they work together" I said and laughed. Kim smiled and nodded.
"There is really a story behind every one of their songs and they are beautiful, even if most people can’t see it" I said and sighed a little.
"I understand what you are saying, because of the fact that they are screaming a lot of people mistake them for satanist and devil worshippers" Kim said and chuckled a little. I nodded.
"I really do love Bon Jovi, but that is because I grew up with them… My father is a really big fan" I said and Bed of Roses popped up in my head.
"Bon Jovi is good" he said and nodded.
"And last I guess I have to say… Bring me The Horizon, I really like Oli’s voice and their lyrics… they are good" I said and shrugged once again.
"That is good, then I’m gonna ask what instruments you play" he said.
"The piano, the guitar and the violin" I said and he wrote it down.
"The violin?.. you don’t really look like a violin girl" he said and looked at me.
"I wanted to play a beautiful instrument when I was young, and picked the violin because I loved the sound of it" I laughed and it made him laugh as well.
"And now… I would like you to sing something, a challenge, and since you said you liked Bring Me The Horizon… Can you sing one of their songs? An acoustic version of… maybe your favorite song?" he asked. I looked at him and got nervous, and then I nodded. Sure… I could try that.

I sat down by the piano and I stretched my fingers, and I started to play the familiar tones to Blessed with a curse. Then I glanced over at Kim and I saw that someone had joined him. A man with tattoos and he was really tall. Just like Austin and Ian. What was it with tattooed men and being tall?
"Ever since it began I was blessed with a curse, I was better off for worse, I was born into a hearse… I knew I sang my heart beats for you, I was lying girl… It beats for two. Cause I’ve got your love, and I got these voices" I began and I could see them smile. I continued and I felt safe. I had missed playing the piano. I had missed the feeling of singing like this. I had missed it all.
