The Trouble

The Talk

I let my finger graze over Mike's back and he shivered. He brought his shoulders up and turned around to yell at Vic for winding him up. But he saw me and grinned. I love surprising him, he always looks so happy to see me. "You were great," I told him.
"You were watching?"
"Yeah, my day off today," I explained. Mike smiled down at me and I reached up to kiss him. He put his hand on the small of my back and I stepped closer to him.
"What have you done?" Mike asked.
"Alan made me watch his set then I hung out with the Sleeping boys until I came here," I explained. "Oh and I met All Time Low,"
"What's the verdict?"
"Nice people. A little insane, but I'm used to that,"
"And what are you doing now, Kay'?"
"I wanted to see you before I gate crashed a cool party tonight,"
"What shall we do?"
"Have a shower," I said casually.
"You want to have a shower?" he asked slowly.
"No, I want you to have one. You stink, Mike,"
"I don't get this shit from Casey,"
"Casey doesn't give you sympathy when you whine that you've broken another finger or hit yourself in the face with your sticks,"
"I don't whine," he countered.
"Oh God, you do. But you only whine to me, and it's kind of cute," I told him. He pouted then smiled. I laughed and he wrapped his arms around me, forcing me into a sweaty hug. I coughed and tried to pull away. He held me close and forced me to remain close to him as we walked. "This is disgusting," I muttered into his chest.
"If you loved me you'd enjoy it," Mike said happily.
"Let the poor girl go," Tony said as he passed us. I took my chance and poked Mike in the ribs. He released me and I took his hand. I placed his arm around my shoulders loosely and I leant into him.
"Hey, I need to talk to you," I told him.
"A serious talk or like that time you said you needed to talk and told me you wanted to run out on stage and make out with me to piss off the fan girls?"
"I never did that. Besides, I was high when I asked you that,"
"You better not be breaking up with me, bitch," he warned playfully.
"Not yet," I teased. We walked to Pierce the Veil's bus and instead of going inside Mike got two folding chairs out. We set them on the grass and Mike went inside for a shower. I sat down and looked around. I spotted Casey and looked at him carefully. "Hey! Casey!" I stage whispered.
"Oh hi, Kay'," he grinned as he walked over.
"Erm . . . I need to ask you something,"
"Go on," he urged.
"Has Mike said anything to you? Has he mentioned anyone?"
"I'm not getting involved in this," Casey said, holding his hands up in the air.
"Casey," I groaned.
"Vic warned me. I'm got being recruited,"
"Fine," I rolled my eyes.
"And just ask him. Don't try and play Sherlock,"
"Alright, thanks," I muttered. Mike came out not long after Casey left. He came out in shorts and shirtless. I bit my lip as he sat down. He put his arm around me and I leaned into him.
"What did you want to talk about?" Mike asked easily.
"There's two things. One involves you, the other doesn't,"
"Shoot,"
"Remember that night we saw each other again. You got that text and then you've stopped answering your phone around me,"
"Oh that," he mumbled.
"Yeah. What's that about, Mike?"
"Just an old friend from high school," he shrugged.
"Why won't you text them around me?" I questioned.
"Don't worry. He's just going through a rough time. He doesn't want anyone knowing what he's going through in case he runs into them. He lives in S.D." Mike explained casually.
"Oh, that's okay then," I smiled, only half believing him.
"What was the other thing?"
"This woman's been seeing me at the tent. She's got a lot of issues. She went out with this guy, he sounds like a total dick. After he did all this horrible stuff and cheated on her he left her. I was just wondering if you'd even cheated?"
"Erm . . . Why?"
"Just curious,"
"You know I hate talking about ex's," he said.
"I know, I just figured you can't have much you want to keep from me. It's been nearly a year, Mike,"
"But we had this talk two months ago,"
"We had to. You broke my ex's nose," I reminded him dryly.
"He was okay," Mike defended.
"He had to get stitches as well,"
"He shouldn't have tried to touch your ass,"
"He was joking,"
"I didn't find it funny," he muttered.
"Anyway, you haven't answered my question,"
"I haven't," he agreed.
"Mike," I groaned.
"Fine, yeah. I've cheated and more than once!" he exclaimed.
"Why?" I asked quietly.
"I don't know," he sighed. "It's tough, Kay'. You know I don't see my girl for months at a time. You come on festivals, but I've never had that. Normally I'm away. I go months at a time without kissing anyone, hooking up with anyone," he explained.
"So do I," I reminded him.
"I didn't plan to cheat, Kayleigh. It just happened. It's not like I woke up thinking I'm going to hook up today,"
"Have you ever cheated on me?" I asked deadpan.
"No," he shook his head.
"Would you ever?"
"I would never cheat on you," Mike promised. He smiled at me warmly. I looked at him and kissed him. I smiled into the kiss and rested my head against his chest.
