Too Soon

Someone knocked on the door of Pierce The Veil's bus. I looked up and waited for someone from the back to get it. I leaned further against Tony and he wrapped his arm tighter around me. "You should get the door." I told him.
"Probably." he smiled.
"So go get it." I urged.
"Why?" he complained playfully.
"Because I said so." I grinned. Tony rolled his eyes at me before he stood up. I watched him walk over to the door and open it. He looked down for a moment before he breathed out roughly.
"What do you want?" Tony asked.
"Who is it?" I asked. I saw Alan's head pop around the doorway and he smiled brightly. Alan waved at me, but I frowned back at him.
"Hi Gemma." he said.
"What do you want?" I asked. "If Austin has sent you then you can walk right away." I snapped.
"Not Austin. Scott sent me." he explained.
"Scott?" I echoed.
"Yeah. We still talk."
"Gemma?" Tony asked.
"Let him in." I finally said. Tony looked at me strangely but stood back so Alan could come inside. Alan sat next to me and looked back to Tony then back to me. "Can you give us ten minutes?" I asked.
"Sure." Tony nodded. "I'll be in the back if you need me." he added. Tony walked brought he bunks and closed the door of the back lounge behind him.
"What's up?" I sighed.
"Do you like him?" Alan asked.
"Who?" I asked stupidly.
"Tony."
"Of course I do." I rolled my eyes. "I wouldn't be his girlfriend if I didn't like him."
"Austin seems to think you're doing it to get at him. Like you're just using Tony to make him jealous and piss him off."
"I think that says more about Austin than it does about me." I mocked.
"Sorry about what happened on stage. We all told him it was a dick move after our set."
"Thanks Alan." I muttered. "How is Austin?" I added.
"He's pissed off, angry, mad at everyone and wants to hit anyone in a ten foot radius. But he's also upset and hurt and jealous. It's how he deals with stuff. Austin will dedicate himself one hundred perfect to his music because otherwise he really will hit anyone in ten foot radius." Alan explained.
"He's an angry person. That much is obvious. I never thought about him being hurt though."
"He's a complicated fellow." Alan nodded.
"Is he eating though? And taking care of himself?"
"He drinks mostly. He's showering because of our sets." Alan shrugged.
"Drinking isn't good." I frowned. I was looking at my lap. I didn't want him to feel like this. I was angry at the time. I'm not anymore.
"You still like him." Alan stated.
I looked up and tried to look shocked. "What?!" I gasped.
"Come on. Tony can't hear you. You still like Austin and now you feel guilty."
"How do you know?" I muttered.
"It's obvious." Alan shrugged. "But I'm right?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
"He really liked you."
"Then why did he cheat on me?!" I exclaimed.
"He's stupid." he shrugged. "I'm not backing him on that. You two had a thing that as much a s he denied it he saw as a relationship and meant something. He shouldn't of fucked around. At the time it probably seemed like a good idea at the time. It wasn't though."
"You're the worst best friend ever." I laughed.
"I'm not. I'm just honest." Alan shrugged. "Do you know why he never made it official?"
"Because he didn't like me enough?" I offered.
"No." Alan rolled his eyes. "Because he didn't want to wreck everything. He's sure that if you were official something bad would happen. After he broke up with his wife it gave him weird ideas. Commitment is bad news. The sooner you go official the sooner you break up."
"I didn't know." I sighed.
"Didn't you think the same when Ramy cheated on you?"
I looked up and narrowed my eyes. "What did Scott tell you?" I snapped. "I'm going to kill him."
"He just said what happened." Alan shrugged.
"That's why I told him. I couldn't cheat on him."
"I get that. But some of the stuff you said in your video really out of order."
"I know." I nodded. "I was angry. I wanted to get back at him."
"Scott asked me to talk to you so you could help me."
"With what?" I asked.
"I told you all of this in case I needed you."
"What do you mean?"
"The way Austin is going something bad is going to happen. I don't want that. So if I need you to pick him up out of the gutter I want to know you'll do it."
"Who says he'll want to see me?"
"Gemma." Alan shook his head and laughed. "He's hung up on you."
"He shouldn't be." I sighed.
"Your welcome to try and change that." he laughed. "Anyway at least now I know you still like him you'll do it."
"Don't tell anyone." I said quickly.
"Of course not. That'd be stupid." he rolled his eyes. "Do me a favour though?"
"What?"
"Don't flaunt Tony in front of him. If you do you'll be the one he snaps at." Alan said.
"I won't." I promised.
"I better go see the patient. He's probably crying for another beer." Alan said. I stood up and Alan headed out. Before he could leave I grabbed his wrist. He raised his eyebrows at me.
"You're not a bad guy, Alan. You're not actually a dick. I never really hated you." I said.
"Thanks." he grinned. "I never hated you either, Gemma."
"You're a good friend too."
"Oh, I know." he smiled smugly. I laughed and pushed him lightly.
"If you need me . . . You know."
"Got you." Alan nodded before he waved. He walked away through the buses. I sighed and leant up against the door. Now I really don't know what to think.
