Too Soon

I looked at myself in the tiny mirror of the tiny bathroom. I looked okay. I wished my hair looked better but it was okay. I walked out and was immediately passed a schedule for today. I rolled my eyes and dumped last nights bed clothes in my bunk.
"I thought I had free rein," I said as I passed Simon.
"You do on the content. But we are here to secure interviews. If you want to do things alone, that's okay, any crazy British ideas," he explained.
"Okay," I replied and looked down at the paper. I had an interview with Of Mice and Men. I started to laugh.
"I thought that would suit you to start, as you managed to get a bus tour from them," he explained.
"Fine," I smiled. "It won't be conventional though," I laughed.
"We want something fun from you,"
"Hi," a young guy announced himself. He had dark brown hair and piercings all the way down his ear. When I looked at his face I realised he resembled Alan.
"Hello?" I smiled.
"I'm Danny. I'm your camera guy," he informed me.
"Oh, I don't normally have one," I shrugged. "Come on," I urged and Danny grinned.
"Bye!" Danny called behind him.
"See you!" I yelled and we walked off of the bus.
"So, how much of an ass is Simon?" Danny joked.
"I noticed that,"
"Second you signed the contract?"
"You too," I said and he grinned.
"At least I get paired with the English chick. I feel kind of classy,"
"Go to England and tell me it's classy," I teased. "In fact go out drinking with me and tell me I'm classy,"
"Okay," he said cheerfully. "Hey, how many interviews have you done, Gemma?" Danny asked as we walked to Of Mice and Men's bus.
"Um . . . Sixty-ish. Give or thake a few,"
"Really? Wow," he breathed.
"How many have you filmed?" I laughed.
"This would be the first,"
"Oh, don't let them freak you out," I told him.
"Freak me out?" he echoed.
"They're cool. But they're probably going to try and wind us up. Mainly me,"
"Right," he said and looked at me confused.
We came to the bus and I knocked the door. I heard movement behind it and Alan opened it. "What are you doing here? I thought we got rid of you!" he exclaimed.
"Good to see you too Alan," I mocked.
"Why are you not in Houston? Did you follow us? Are you Austin's groupie?"
"No," I rolled my eyes. "I'm here to interview you,"
"No you're not,"
"Look," I said and showed him my badge.
"Are you here all tour?" he asked and I nodded. "So I have to watch you hook up with Austin all summer?"
"That isn't true," I told Danny.
"It so is," Alan said.
"Can we come in?" I asked. Alan shrugged and I walked into the bus with Danny. I saw Austin, Tino, Phil and Aaron sitting on the sofa waiting. Austin saw me and his face lit up.
"Gemma?" he asked and stood up to hug me. I let him and he went to kiss me. I stopped him with my badge and he frowned.
"I'm working," I said flustered.
"What?" he asked as we sat down.
"This is my summer job. Media touring on Warped," I explained quickly.
"You didn't tell me,"
"In England we call it a surprise," I grinned. "Anyway, you guys know me and this is Danny,"
"Hey," Danny smiled.
"Gemma brought a friend for Alan to play with," Phil said and Austin snorted.
"Leave him alone," I rolled my eyes.
"Who? Alan?" Aaron asked.
"No, Danny. He's my camera guy,"
"Oh, official," Alan stated.
"Because you're apparently official when you have a camera guy," Tino joked.
"Maybe we should adopt him. Then we could be a real family," Austin teased.
"God, shut up," I laughed.
"You were right. They do have it in for you," Danny said.
"We don't," Phil countered.
"I do," Alan said.
"You don't," Austin rolled his eyes. "You're just looking for someone to piss off,"
"Think now is a good time to start," Danny said.
"Yes!" I declared.
"Cool," Danny said and signalled that he was recording.
"Hi, Gemma here for 'Followers' and I'm with some people I know a lot of girls have fantasies over. Of Mice and Men," I said into the camera, speaking into a mic.
"Wow, do they?" Alan asked.
"They do," I told him.
"That's cool," Aaron said and I held the mic to them as they spoke.
"If you want to tell people who you are and your role in the band," I said.
"I'm Tino and I play drums," Tino said.
"I'm Phil and I play guitar," Phil added.
"I'm Alan and I play guitar,"
"I'm Aaron and I play bass and sing," Aaron said.
"I'm Austin and I'm a drug addict," he said and the others started to laugh. I looked at him, trying to hold in my laugh. "I'm sorry, Gemma. I just feel like this part is like an AA meeting,"
"What's your drug of choice?" I asked seriously.
"Meth," he said seriously.
"You want to tell me what you do in the band? Or are you too high?" I questioned.
"Everyone knows he sings. He has that look about him," Alan said.
"Alright," I laughed. "I want to do something a bit different. I hate when interviews are all serious and gloomy. So I'm going to let you ask me a question each first. Then it's my turn," I explained.
"You sure?" Austin asked.
"She's sure," Alan grinned.
"So, Tino?" I asked.
"Um . . . Okay. Do you even like our band? Or are you just really good at faking it?"
"Both," I said, and the guys laughed, turning to look at Austin. I felt my cheeks burn and I turned to look at Tino. "I'm hoping to get a shirt, but I'm broke and don't get paid until next month,"
"You can't steal one on your way out," Aaron told me.
"Wow, thanks," I told him. "Phil?"
"Instead of a question can I hear you do an American accent?"
"What you do want me to say?" I laughed.
"That you love Of Mice and Men,"
"Okay," I sighed. "I freaking love Of Mice and Men. They're like so awesome and rad!" I said in a thick accent.
"Why did it come out New York?" Phil laughed.
"I don't know. I was trying to sound like Austin,"
"What?!" he exclaimed. "I'm not from New York,"
"Sorry to all Americans watching," I said into the camera.
"Who's your favourite band member?" Aaron asked.
"Austin," I said quickly.
"They all say that," he joked.
"Hey, thanks," Austin grinned. "So, did you enjoy Houston?" he smirked.
"I did. Some homeless guy made me spend the week with him,"
"Just to clarify that homeless guy was me! She doesn't hang out with homeless guys... Not that there's anything wrong with that, if your homeless and watching this interview in the Apple store," Austin rushed.
"Thanks for that," I told him. "Anyway, Alan?"
"Is Austin good in bed?" Alan asked seriously. I put a hand over my mouth and started to blush. I laughed and heard the others do the same.
"You can't ask people that!" Tino laughed. I looked up and saw Danny silently laughing.
"Are you going to answer?" Alan asked.
"No!" I exclaimed.
"Ohhhh," the guys said in unison.
"What?" I asked.
"Burn," Aaron muttered.
"Now they all think I'm rubbish in bed," Austin explained.
"I wouldn't know, I've never had the pleasure," I said and Alan snorted while the other guys rolled their eyes. "Now, your new CD?" I asked quickly.
"Oh yeah," Austin said and I held the mic under his mouth.
