Who Will I Be For My Daughter?

I Can't Drown My Demons

“It’s official. I’m broken.” Austin said with a sigh as he dropped onto the couch. It had been three weeks and I still wasn’t pregnant. I sat next to him and smiled with a chuckle.

“Don’t laugh, there must be something wrong.”

“Austin, we had Mia. I’m pretty sure you’re fine.”

“Maybe we’re not trying enough.” He said with a frown.

“Austin we’ve been having sex twice a day since we decided. I’m sure we’re doing it enough.” I kissed his cheek and headed into the kitchen were a cake was sitting on the table. It was half decorated and was looking quite good if I did say so myself.

Austin came into the kitchen and hopped onto the counter, his finger reaching out to touch the cake.

“Touch it and I’ll bite your dick off.” I warned as I squeezed icing on top of the white cake. When I was finished with it the blue icing wrote ‘Happy Engagement Alan and Gus’. I put the cake on the top self in the cupboard so Mia couldn’t stick her fingers in it when she gets home.

Austin was swinging his legs like a child as he ran his finger around the inside of an icing bowl. He stuck the finger in his mouth with a smile. I cleaned away my mess as Austin sat on the counter on his phone.

“Do you want to go house hunting?” Austin asked before hopping off the counter and following me into the garden.

“I don’t want a new house.” I said before turning to look at our house.

“If we’re going to have another baby then we need a bigger house, angel.” Austin said to me before wrapping his arms around me and resting his head on my shoulder.

“Well, our room is still downstairs I don’t see why we don’t just put the new baby in our room.” I suggested and I could almost hear the cogs whirring in his head as he thought about the idea. He nodded against me and pulled me tighter to him.

“We need to paint our bedroom and then turn our old bedroom into a nursery.”

“Austin, there is no rush.”

“I know. I just want to get things ready and going. You get me?”

“It’ll be fine.” I whispered and kissed him gently before sitting on the patio. The sun was hot against my skin as I reclined on the hot concrete, next to Austin.

“We should go on vacation.”

“Why?” I asked as I closed my eyes.

“Mia hasn’t been on vacation yet. I’d like to take her.” Austin ran his hands through my hair before pulling the strands apart and braiding them. He’d become an expert thanks to Mia who demanded to have her put into the braids every morning for school.

“I suppose we could go.” I agreed and leant my head back to lean on his lap to look at the afternoon clouds. Austin ran his fingers through my hair before they travelled over my collarbone and down my chest before landing above my heart.

“Where do you want to go?”

“I don’t mind. Wherever you want to go.” I rolled over onto my back before resting my head on his lap. Since we’d had Mia Austin’s arm was almost fully covered. He’d finished the snake and had incorporated a magnitude of designs into it.

“Why don’t we ask Mia where she wants to go?”

“Yeah, sure.” I whispered as I closed my eyes against the afternoon sun. Austin wrapped his arm around me and I leant further back against him. I was wondering about another baby. Sure I’d agreed to have another child but was it really the best thing to do with Austin’s heart? Only time would tell.
