Pretty in Pink

003

She let out a deep sigh as she stared down at her phone. No text, no call, no nothing since she had fallen asleep 2 weeks ago watching Peter pan with Austin only to wake up and find that he was gone. Was she surprised? No. Disappointed? Hell yeah. It sucked to have someone tell you they wanted to get to know you and then not make the effort.

“Would you stop pouting?” Denika asked as she took a strand from Tinsleys ponytail and curled it. She glanced up to meet her eyes in the mirror. “Come on, Tin. Let me see those dimples.”

“I’m not in the mood to smile.” She frowned, supporting her head with her hand. Denika rolled her eyes and shook her head, picking up another strand.

“You knew that boy for a day, Tinsley.” She reminded her, “One day. You’re 19 don’t be so bummed that a guy didn’t ‘call you back’ so to speak.”

“He was just nice, that’s all.” She shrugged, “Just a little bummed about it….I thought he thought I was nice too.”

“Honey, I’m sorry to break your heart,” She said taking a seat in the chair beside Tinsley. “But regardless of the things he said to you he probably was just interested in how nice a certain aspect of you besides your personality was…do you get what I’m saying?” Tinsley squinted her eyes at her in confusion making Denika cover her face for a moment. “Sweetheart.” She leaned forward and grabbed Tinsley’s hands. “I’m thinking he was shooting for the title of being the one to deflower Tinsley Bresh and he realized that wasn’t going to happen.”

The look on Tinsley’s face seemed to deepen with more disappointment. “Oh.” Denika gave a sympathetic look, she loved Tinsley to pieces and it sucked to see her with that look on her face.

“I’m sorry.” She said genuinely as she leaned forward to hug Tinsley. “Now are you going to sit in here and pout or are you going to shoot this music video?”

“Music video it is.” Tinsley grinned standing up and smoothing out her dress.

“Mhmm, Mac Miller ain’t ready for this.” She smiled as Tinsley stuck her tongue out in disgust.

“He better not be ready for this.” She gestured to herself. “He’s not getting any of it, ew. I don’t do that.”

Denika rolled her eyes and smacked Tinsleys butt as she walked out of the door. “You’re never going to get a good guy with that attitude.” Tinsley stuck her tongue out as she headed off to the set of ‘The way.’

Tinsley walked out of the doors of the building she had just shot her music video in. “Where’s my phone?”

“Probably in here.” Denika said handing Tinsley her coat and referring to her phone being in the pocket. “Get in we need to get on the first flight to California.” Denika hurried into the car and Tinsley’s Manager, Roslyn, slid in beside them.

“Why are we going to California? I thought we were going to Orlando after the video shoot.” Tinsley leaned her head on Denikas shoulder and closed her eyes.

“Well plan changes are very well accepted when Ellen DeGeneres wants you on her show.” Tinsley’s eyes shot open to look at Roslyn who nodded at her. “I know.”

“I have to text Georgie, I’ve always wanted to be on Ellen.” She quickly found her phone in her coat pocket, but the grin faded from her phone. “What is this?” She flipped the phone to Denika and a picture of her and Mac Miller kissing from the video shoot was posted on her twitter.

@dennythedoc: @TinsleyB I thought you said @MacMiller wasn’t getting any of that? http://instagram.com/p/KVL5RlKoPf

“Don’t be so mad I was only kidding.” Tinsley turned her phone back towards her and sighed, closing out of instagram to go to her messages. The car pulled up in front of the airport and the security guards that were sitting up front got out grabbing Tinsley’s bags out of the trunk. “Keep your head down; maybe people won’t notice it’s you. Thank god there aren’t very many people here.”

“When is my flight?” Tinsley asked texting everyone that was important the good news about Ellen.

“About an hour.” Denika replied directing the security guards that they could sit with Tinsley in the chairs they were standing in front of. “I’m gonna go get some coffee.”

Tinsley nodded before realizing that though it wasn’t crowded, they were sitting in the middle of the airport and could be seen at any point. One tweet about her being there and things wouldn’t end well. “Denika wait- Oh I’m sorry.” She apologized looking down.

“No worries.” That sounded familiar and as much as she didn’t want to be excited about seeing that ocean themed sleeve tattoo, she was.

“Oh you…” She replied without bothering to look at him and turned to sit beside one of her security guards.

“Oh me?” She could hear the amusement in his voice as he sat down beside her. It was probably because she was pouting like a little kid. “Somebody is happy see me and doesn’t want to admit it.”

“I’m not happy to see you, actually.” She made the mistake of glancing up and meeting those pretty brown eyes and she had to remind herself of what Denika had said. “Your intentions are just like them rest of them.”

“Intentions?” He scrunched his eyebrows and his head was slightly tilted. “What you think all I want do is sleep with you or something?” She hated to hear it said and when she did hear it she realized it sounded conceited to quickly believe that every guy just wanted to sleep with her. “Tinsley.”

She looked up at him and shrugged. “It’s just stupid; we don’t even know each other so it doesn’t even matter.”

“I want to get to know you though.” He admitted as he leaned back and ran his eyes over her face. Two weeks and she had seemed to have gotten prettier than the last time he saw her.

“You can’t get to know someone without making an effort to do so.” He smiled in realization.

“So that’s what this is about!” He realized he should have known better to go 2 weeks without talking to her. She wasn’t like the other girls he had dated, she was young and she wanted attention; she was used to having so much of it. As much as he hated to tell himself it Tinsley did have ‘teen’ at the end of her age. “I’m sorry, Tinsley. The thing is-“

“I’m not what you were hoping?” She asked and he wished they weren’t getting off to such a rocky start. They had only been around each other a short amount of time.

“It’s not that, you’re just not what I’m use to, which is not a bad thing!” He quickly assured her. “I know I’m definitely not what you’re used to, Right?”

“Right.” She smiled up at him, and it gave him relief that he had finally gotten one out of her.

“I’m just used to girls calling me when….they want something and I do the same with them.” He looked over at her and she still had a small smile. “But you’re not like that and I’m happy you’re not. I just have to get used to trying to actually date a girl instead of just calling them up every now and again for…wow I sound like such a slut.”

“No I get it.” She grinned, leaning forward making her curly ponytail fall over her shoulder. “No offense, but I don’t expect it to be easy for a guy in a band that tours all the time to commit.”

“That’s actually not why I am the way I am…” He said it softly like he was thinking about something and looked up to see here giving him a confused look. “But that’s a story for another day.”

“Why are you here anyways?” She asked, swaying from the subject that he obviously didn’t want to talk about. “Did you get jealous of me kissing Mac or something?”

“What…? Mac?” He raised an eyebrow at her. “I’m here because I’m flying home, but I want to hear more about this Mac!”

“Uh…” She dragged on. “Where’s home?”

“California.” He said with a smile and narrowing his eyes at her. “Who’s Mac?”

“You’re flying to California right now, so weird, I’m flying to California right now.” She rambled on making him chuckle.

“Tinsley.” She stopped and looked at him. “If you’re with someone just tell me. I wouldn’t want to turn a sweetie like you into a player would I?”

“Ew!” She squeaked out wrinkling her nose. “Me, date Mac?” She made a sound when you taste something bad. “We did a song together and kissed for the music video.”

“How random that we run into you here, Austin.” Denika said handing Tinsley a small iced coffee. It was apparent by her tone that she was on the fence about Austin and his intentions.

“Yeah I’m just heading home.” He replied with a smile, like it didn’t bother him at all what she thought about him. Which it didn’t bother him at all, he was used to people judging base off his appearance and lifestyle.

“California I’m guessing.” She stated with a nod. “Remember what I talked to you about.” She warned Tinsley and smacked her ponytail so it swung behind her head and swung for a moment.

Austin waited until she was out of ear shot. “She definitely does not like me.”

“Yeah make me smile once and I like you and so does she.” Tinsley informed Austin, “Make me frown once and I just want you to make me smile again, but Denika…” She glanced over at Denika talking to Roslyn; Denika looked over and winked at Tinsley. “Yeah, Denika will want to rip your face off.”

“That sounds lovely.” He grinned, “Oh our flights here, sit by me?”

“We have assigned seats.” She giggled. “We have to sit in those seats.”

“You always play by the rules?” He asked as he stood up and she followed, heading to the tunnel to get into the plane. “What is the most fun thing you have every done, Tinsley?”

“I have a feeling whatever I say you’re going to outshine me so go ahead.” He laughed and grabbed her hand when they got into the plane and lead her more towards the middle of first class instead of the front.

“Tinsley, you ain’t gonna sit in your seat?” Denika asked with that familiar role of her eyes like she had already known Austin would whisk Tinsley away.

“Anyway.” Austin said sitting beside the window and Tinsley sat beside him. “One time at Warped tour I chugged a cup of whiskey and rode a bike around wasted for about an hour even though I could barely see.” He told her with a smile and laugh thinking back to that day. “And then when I went on stage and performed, during the last song, the fans crowd surfed me from the front of the stage and carried me all the way to the gates. Then I got laid.”

“That was the most fun thing you have ever done?” She questioned and he responded with a nod. “I’ve got nothing. Never been drunk, never crowd surfed and definitely have never gotten laid.”

“Well you’ve never been to an Of Mice & Men concert.”He nodded at her with a knowing smile. “Come out to one sometime and I can make all three of those things happen in one night.” He winked at her sticking his tongue out.

“Austin!” Tinsley laughed and smacked him in the chest with the back of her hand. “You’re fans would rip me apart at one of your shows!”

“What? Why?” He asked turning to look at her as the plane began to move down the runway for takeoff.
“Look at me.” She gestured to herself and he gladly took the invitation to do so. “I’m little; look at this bow in my hair and the pink dress I’m wearing. I’m a prissy, prude.”

“You are not a prissy prude!” He replied laughing loudly as she nodded in response. “No, you’re not. You just respect yourself and you stick to what you believe in for yourself. There is nothing wrong with that.”
“But I’m 19; people are going to eventually start calling me what I’ve inwardly been calling myself for the last 2 years.” She said with a shrug and grabbed her ponytail, twisting the curls around fingers.

“Honestly.” He sighed and looked over at her. “That’s the problem with judgment. People call me a drug addict just because I’m in a band, doesn’t mean I really am. Do you get what I’m saying?” That’s when she realized how easy it was to talk to him. She remembered having a similar conversation early in the day with Denika. “Not having sex or having sex, it doesn’t really matter. As long as you’re not doing it or are doing it for a good reason.”

“You have sex on tour with random girls on tour because?” He grinned down at her and he had to admit he liked the way she was calling him out.

“I wasn’t ever patient enough to have a girlfriend on my last couple of tours.” He replied still grinning over at her. “My good reason is that I didn’t want commitment.”

“So now for your next tour I know what you’ll be doing every night.” She rolled her eyes, hating the fact that they were so different. She had literally only ever kissed a boy and she could tell Austin had more than likely had his way with many girls.

“No.” He shook his head, “I’m hoping by my next tour I won’t have to do that because I’ll actually be committed to someone.”

“Me?” She questioned with a hopeful smile.

“You.” He nodded answering her question, hoping that the change in the type of girls he had been dating before would turn out well.

Notes

I just want to make sure everyone knows. That though it may seem like it I AM NOT basing Tinsleys whole life around Ariana Grande I may reference to videos or link videos and pictures or songs in this video but Tinsley is her own person. There will be different songs that she sings that will not be done by Ariana Grande so I just wanted to put that out.

Also, I may not be able to update as much as I do right now because I start college on Wednesday.
