Pretty in Pink

002

“Denika, I’m not feeling so well.” Tinsley groaned as she rolled over in bed. Her hair was a complete mess around her head and the makeup she had fallen asleep in was smeared around her eyes. She also noticed that she was covered in a sheet of cold sweat.

“Yeah?” Denika put her hand on her hip as she looked the tiny girl over. “Well you’re not looking so good either. Scoot on over here.”

“I don’t want to move.” She whined back, but did what was asked when Denika gave her a warning squint.

Denika reached her hand out and cupped Tinsleys forehead in her hand. “Definitely a fever, I’ll go call Austin and let him know that he can’t come pick you up today."

“Nooo!” Tinsley whined back, grabbing Denikas hand before she could walk away. “It’s just a little fever.”

“That little fever is going to turn into something way worse later on today.” She replied squeezing her hand, “I don’t think Austin is gonna think you’re so cute after you blow chunks on his shirt.”

“Okay.” She replied back in a solemn voice. “Can you see if the hotel has sprite and a copy of Peter pan?”

Denika rolled her eyes, but smiled at the childish girl. “Of course Princess Tinsley,” She teased. “I’ll have them bring it up as soon as possible.”

Tinsley giggled and got out of bed as soon as she heard the door to her hotel room slam shut. She made her way to the bathroom and took her time getting the smeared make up from her eyes and cheeks. Her hair was still in ringlets but they were tangled together in a rats nest so she worked her brush through it, making sure not to be too rough and rip her hair out. She changed into a spaghetti strapped tank top and some shorts, just in case her fever broke and she got too hot.

She was just making her way back to her bed when there was a knock on her door. She grinned knowing that it was the hotel bringing up her Sprite and Peter pan movie. “Coming!” She yelled as she walked towards the door. She let out a squeak when she opened the door and quickly tried to shut the door. “Oh my gosh, what are you doing?”

She heard that familiar chuckled and covered her face as he easily opened the door that she was trying to push shut. “Denika told me that you were sick so I thought I’d come and take care of you.”

“Seriously?” She huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “The last thing I want you to see is me puking my guts out.”

He shrugged and managed to squeeze his tall skinny self around and walk past her. “That’s too bad because I’m probably going to see that within the next couple hours unless you drink this.”

He held up a bottle she never seen before and poured some of it’s contents in a glass. “What is that?”

“Vodka.” He grinned as she pouted her mouth at him. “Lose the pout i'm only kidding. It’s Ginger ale, silly.”

“Well does it do?” She questioned peering at the cup in his hand like a little kid. “Is it medicine?”

He reached forward and grabbed her hand, pulling her towards him. “Just drink it, it’s going to make you feel better.”

He handed her the cup and walked over to the tv and within seconds the familiar Disney movie logo was popping up on the screen. Austin had already laid his self up in Tinsley's hotel bed. “You just let yourself in with no respect for privacy.”

“Awh,” Austin pouted with a grin. “If it really bothered you I’m sure you’d say so.”

“I’m sure I wouldn’t.” She shot back finishing of the Ginger Ale that was surprisingly already settling her stomach. “I’m not very good at being rude.”

“That’s not being rude, it’s expressing your opinion respectively.” He shrugged looking over at the tv and watching the movie that had finally started.

"Who knew you were so wise?" She asked mostly to herself as she slowly walked towards the bed.

When she looked up Austin was staring at her with a smile. "My mom made me this way."

"A big macho, tattooed guy?" She grinned sitting beside him on the bed.

"No, when she died I-" he was cut off when Tinsley attacked him in a hug. Surprising him because for some reason he had expected her to be shy and awkward.

"Your mom died?" She asked in a sad voice and hugged him tighter. "I'm so sorry! Oh and I touched you, I'm gonna get you sick I'm so so sorry!"

"It's okay!" He replied pulling back and cupping her face, looking at her frown. "I'm okay."

"What happened to her?" She asked with a pout. " I couldn't imagine life without Denika."

"Well." He started off making a mental note to ask her why she referred to Denika as being her key mother figure. "She just got really sick one day while I was at work and when I rushed to the hospital to see her...she was already gone." He sighed and ran his hands over his face. "Turns out she had Marfan syndrome, her heart was too big and it's hereditary so I was tested and ended up having it too."

"Oh no." He had to admit he was intrigued by her worry. He only ever got that look from fans who looked up to him. That kind of strong sympathy was something that not even his wife cared to give him while he was laying in his hospital bed after surgery. "What are they going to do to help you?"

"It's already been done." he answered sitting up and pulling the neck of his shirt down to reveal the long scar from his surgery.

"Wow." She whispered sitting on her knees and leaning forward to get a good look at it. "That's...so sad."

"Yeah, but I'm okay now." He whispered back. He honestly hadn't expected them to get all sentimental the first time they hung out. Austin really just wanted to see her smile and show her dimples as much as possible. "I just get a couple of infections in it every now and again."

She reached forward and traced the scar on his chest only to feel him jerk back. "Oh I'm sorry that was too far." She blushed covering her face. "You shouldn't be here anyways it might be worse if you get sick."

He grinned as she rambled and refused to look him. "It's okay. You've got way too much on your mind. I'm going to have to fix that."

"What do you want with me anyway?" She smiled with a shrug. He could have sworn that smile made his heart melt it was too cute. "I don't what you're expecting but I'm not going to break out some lingerie and drop the f-bomb because we're alone."

"Bummer." He pouted. "I was hoping you we're a princess to the public but a freak when it's time." He watched as her eyes bugged out of her head before he broke out into snorts and giggles. "I'm just joking. Is a guy like me not allowed to find a girl like you cute?"

"Oh you can, guys like you happen to find me cute often." She admitted. "They just don't try to pursue me."

"Is it so bad that I'd rather change it up and hang out with a girl who wears bows all time and choose Disney movies over partying?" Tinsley shook her head with a grin. "I know your perfect little ears don't want to hear this but hanging out with girls who want to get drunk and fuck all the time can get boring really fast."

"So...I'm like a project to you?" She squinted at him with confusion.

"No, no, no! Not at all." He gripped her shoulder with a smile. "You are a breath of fresh air. A pink, frilly, dimpled breath of fresh air." He leaned forward and kissed her forehead before leaning back. "Now watch Peter Pan."
