An Addiction Out Of Style

Chapter 2

Once the two guys arrived at Alan’s apartment he unlocked the door and pushed it open as he pulled the keys out. He let Austin through the door first, keeping his eye out for his cat since she liked to run out of the door whenever it was opened. “I uh, have a kitten. She’s called Sophie and she might just randomly pop out of nowhere… So, I hope you like cats.” He mumbled, moving in behind him. “If you don’t then we can’t be friends.” He added jokingly and smiled, showing his teeth.
"Who wouldn't like cats?" Austin chuckled and returned the smile before he looked around Alan's apartment slowly, trying to take everything in. "You have a really nice place," he mumbled quietly, watching out for the kitten.
“I don’t know, weird people?” Alan laughed and showed Austin to the lounge. “Thanks a lot. It’s not really much but, it’s just me and Soph so I don’t really need anything too big… Can I get you a beer or something?” He asked with a small smile and rubbed his now sweaty palms together.
"A beer would be nice," Austin nodded with a small smile as he sat on the couch. "And hey, you're place is bigger than mine. It's just me, pretty much," he shrugged and put his hands in his lap, still smiling.
Alan nodded, keeping his smile and headed to the kitchen. He opened the fridge and pulled out the two remaining beers that were left then headed back to the lounge, taking a seat next to Austin as he handed him one. “No pets or anything?” He asked before using his teeth to pop the cap.
"No," Austin laughed lightly, raising an eyebrow as he watched Alan. "That's bad for your teeth, you know," he said as he nodded towards the bottle cap. "Do you not have a bottle opener?"
Alan looked at the cap in his hand and bit his lip before looking back at Austin. “Uh… No.” He said quietly with a shrug and threw the cap over to bin. “I usually have cans, Aaron brought these.”
"Aaron was the guy you were with tonight, yeah?" Austin questioned, leaning back into the couch. "What's he like? Actually... I'd like to hear more about you, too," he said quietly, twisting the cap off his beer and taking a small drink.
“Yeah, it is.” Alan nodded. “I only met him recently. So I don’t know that much about him, either. But, he likes finding new bands to listen to and thinks I need to hear them, too.” He chuckled and took a sip of his drink. “You want to hear about me? Well, what do you want to know exactly?”
"Just... anything I guess," Austin shrugged. "Like... I really hope you aren't a serial killer because nobody knows where I am right now," he laughed, watching Alan's face.
Alan laughed softly and shook his head. “I’m a short, ginger guy that spends his nights with beer, Tim Burton and a cat. Aaron is really my only friend. I play guitar in my free time and work in a music store and I really like the beach.” He shrugged. “I’m a pretty boring person, really.”
"If that makes you boring," Austin chuckled. "Then I'm equally as boring. That's pretty much my life minus the cat and guitar. And I have Tino and Phil but... they're a handful. And always stoned," Austin laughed and shook his head before he took another drink of the beer.
“You don’t really seem that boring.” Alan shrugged and noticed Sophie come into the room; he cooed her onto his lap and looked at Austin again as he petted her. “So.. You don’t smoke?”
"No," Austin scrunched up his nose and reached out to pet the cat. He glanced back at Alan quickly. "Not that I have a problem with it. I just don't."
“Oh. Well then I guess that’s a good thing.” Alan nodded and kissed Sophie’s head before sitting her on Austin’s lap. He took a long drink then set his bottle down on the table.
Austin smiled wide and continued pouring Sophie, looking down at her. "Do you?" he asked as he leaned forward to set his own bottle down.
Alan pointed across the room to a bong and nodded. “There’s your answer.” He chuckled and moved his eyes back onto Austin. “Not really often, though.”
"Oh, well then," Austin laughed as he turned his eyes to the bong. "I've never even really tried it if we're being honest. I wouldn't do it with Tino and Phil. They're... weird."
“Weird?” Alan asked, raising an eyebrow and picked his drink back up again. “Like how?”
"They just act stupid," Austin laughed again. "It gets annoying. I think even if I were high, it'd still be annoying."
“I can see why that would be annoying.” Alan chuckled before taking a small drink. “I just get… a really high sex drive. Kinda like when I drink.” He added quietly.
"Yeah... don't even get me started about being drunk," Austin chuckled and shook his head as he picked his beer back up. "I do, too. I'm just... really too awkward to do a damn thing about it."
“Well then that makes two of us.” Alan laughed lightly before downing the rest of his drink quickly and hiccupped. “Uh, ‘scuse me.” He mumbled, covering his mouth as his cheeks turned pink.
Austin looked over to Alan, smiling as he took a drink. "It's all good," he laughed lightly as he lowered the bottle. "At least I'm not the only awkward one."
