Chapter 17
Austin's pov
"Ree, come on. I want to get to the beach before the sun starts to set."
"Coming your highness."
Tonight is the night I'm going to propose to Iris. In a few hours I will find out if I will be spending the rest of my life with her or just be a miserable man for the rest of my life.
"You ready for this dude?" Alan said as I walked into the kitchen.
"Y-Yeah I think I am. It feels right y'know?"
"Good."
"What are you doing tonight then?"
"I'm going to watch a film or something." He said with a devilish grin.
"Alan..." I said in a monotone voice.
"What are you planning?"
"Other than drooling over Zooey Deschanel - nothing."
"I hope so."
After about 10minutes of waiting Iris was finally ready; she looked stunning. I don't deserve someone as good as her. We drove to the beach and I quickly found the spot where Alan had placed everything: blankets, wine, food, and a campfire.
"A-Austin, this is amazing." She said in a gasp. "Do you know what this reminds me of?" She asked.
"I don't know. What does it remind you of princess?" I said sitting down on the blankets with Ree doing the same.
"It reminds me of our first date. Going to the beach, having picnic and watching the sun go down. It's just like our first date."

We finished eating and decided to take a walk along the shore line. This is it Austin, it's time. Now or never.
"Hey Iris, can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
"Um....Lately I've been thinking and-"
"You're not breaking up with me are you?" She said, looking like she was going to burst into tears at any moment.
"No, no, of course not." I said bringing her in for a hug. We separated and I held both her hand in mine.
"Lately I've been thinking about how much I love you. I notice everything about you that I didn't realise before. You're truly one of a kind and I couldn't imagine a life that was worth living if you weren't in it. The reason I recreated our firs date because it was the first time I new I was falling hard for you. So I was wondering..." I got down on one knee and let go of her hands and got out the small box. "Iris Cora Taylor, will you marry me?" I said whilst shakily opening the box revealing the engagement ring that I picked out with a little help from Alan.
She was quiet and I was becoming really scared.
"No..."
