This Time I'll Make You Proud

Farewell to Shady Glade

"Okay so I need to go food shopping for the tour," Shayley said walking into our bedroom, staring at the paper that he held in his hands. He had been running around the apartment all day packing whatever he thought he needed. There was one small problem to all this packing though. He doesn't leave for another two weeks.

"Baby, stop packing. By the time the tour even gets here you'll have half your things unpacked because you need all of it," I laughed while I sat up from the bed. I'd just been sitting here all day, watching him run around like a chicken without a head.

"I'm only packing the things that I don't need every day," he objected and started shoving a pair of shoes into his suitcase.

"So what you're telling me," I began while I crawled over the mess of sheets and blankets that covered the mattress, "is that you don't need your toothbrush, deodorant, comb, hair wax, OR every pair of boxer briefs that you currently own."

I pulled each item that I named out of the black duffel that rested next to his large suitcase. Shayley stopped what he was doing and let out a long sigh before sinking down onto the bed.

"Lilly-"

"Shayley, just slow down." I giggled and wrapped my arms around his neck from behind and kissed the side of his head.

"No," he laughed and turned to face me, "I'm so happy Lillian. I'm not panicking at all anymore. I am so excited. I'm touring the country with my best friends. I'm doing exactly what I want to do with my life and it's all thanks to you baby, you pushed me into doing what I love. I love you so much Lillian Briello and I don't think you understand it. I barely understand it half the time. I just-"

I quickly stopped him from talking by covering his lips with my own. Hearing him say all those things made me feel awful. It wasn't that I didn't love him, because I did. Every second of the night I had spent with Austin played through my mind and I couldn't stop it. Every kiss, every touch, every sigh. It all played through my head constantly. When Shayley pulled his face away from mine, I smiled at him and pushed some of his hair back.

"Let's get some of this stuff back where it belongs," I laughed and pulled a pair of jeans from the suitcase while he made his way to the bathroom.

"Lil, bring me those jeans?" Shay's voice carried through the room. I did as he asked, leaving them on the back of the toilet while he showered and I brushed my teeth. "Oh, Austin invited us to go out to lunch with him and his new girl at twelve so we're going to meet him at Bazarelli's."

My cheeks got hot and my jaw went hard as Shayley finished speaking. I watched my knuckles go white while my hand squeezed my toothbrush violently.

"What if I don't want to go?" I snapped and slammed my toothbrush down onto the counter before I started ripping through my blonde hair with my brush.

"Hey what's the matter? I thought that was your favorite restaurant? Plus, I figured you and his girl could hang out together while we're on tour."

"That's doubtful..." I mumbled angrily to myself.

"Huh?"

"I said okay. I was gonna ask Kiera if she wanted to go to the beach later but I'll just do it tomorrow," I covered for myself.

"Alrighty," He said happily.

Within the next hour, both Shayley and I had gotten dressed and made our way to the restaurant where Austin and a small red head were waiting for us. The red head spoke to Austin as we approached the table, but he paid no attention to what she was actually saying. Only nodding his head and smiling at the appropriate times.

"Hey guys!" Shayley greeted the two of them as we sat down.

"Hey!" Austin smiled in his direction. "Guys this is Marissa, Marissa this is Shayley and Lillian."

"Nice to meet you," I faked a smile and waved in her direction as I spoke.

"Same," She said, slightly glaring in my direction. My eyebrows shot up and I opened my mouth to say something snippy to her but Austin spoke before I did.

"So Marissa's an aspiring model Lil, how cool is that?" he said trying to avoid any embarassment I could have caused the girl.

"That's cute. Red heads don't usually make it very far though, they tend to look for softer hair colors that won't contrast with the clothing so much." I shrugged.

"Lil..." Shayley sighed beside me.

"What? I'm just saying. It's not going to be easy for her."

"And I suppose you would know?" the girl scoffed.

"I should. I've been modeling for almost seven years." I rolled my eyes.

"Right so I'm going to get the Fettuccine, how about you Aust?" Shayley said loudly over the bickering that was going on between Marissa and I.

"Yeah I'm gonna get the chicken parm." He answered after staring at the menu for a few more seconds. "Lil?"

"Just a salad."

"Lilly I thought we talked about-"

"It's a big salad Shay." I answered quickly and shot him a small glare.

After we ordered, we had all settled into a normal level of conversation, the main topic being the tour.

"So are you worried about Austin being lost in temptation while he's away? It's quite a long tour." I said cheerily. Her eyes went wide and I felt Austin give me a little kick underneath our table.

"Austin? Lilly?" I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me. It was Austins turn for his eyes to go wide and I watched as all the color drained from his face. We were in trouble.
