The Last Snow: A Mother's Love

There’s Not A Chance In Hell….Except For You

“So how much do you know about what’s been going on?” I asked Andy as we both walked down the hall together.

“My band and I have honestly been out of the loop for this last tour, we haven’t been able to say in as close contact as we wish we could have.” He explained.

“Ok, well here’s a short little summary of what’s happening right now. Chris and Danny are holding a conference with everyone to lay out where we’re going to do a sweep and try to locate Bella. Right now it’s between Kylie and Bella’s mom. I need to convince Chris that we should check out Chance’s place too.” I informed him.

“Why do you want to go there? There’s no fucking way she’d ever go back to him, ever.” Andy questioned me.

“I know she”s not there, but I just need to give old Chance one last little visit.” I answered.

“When you say that, you make me think you’re going to kill him.” Andy noted.

“Death would be too kind for that piece of shit.” I growled.

Yeah, I can’t really argue with you on that one.” He conceded.

“Hey, is anyone else in on this?” He quickly asked me before we walked into the large lounge area.

“James and Kuza.” I whispered, popping open the door and entering the room.

“Morning.” Danny and Chris greeted us.

“Good morning.” I muttered back, taking a seat in one of the last few available seats.

“Ok, so as of now we’re nearly 100% sure she’s with Kylie, Ben and TJ will go look into that. Now there’s also an extremely small chance that she could be with her mom, so Vic, Alex. and Craig will check that out. Is there any other places that we should invest time to look into?” Chris asked.

“I think we need to check Chance out one last time. Just like you mentioned about her mom, it’s a small chance she would be with him, but if she is and we choose not to look there, we’d just be fucking ourselves over.” I brought up.

“He does have a point…” James mentioned.

“Anybody else think that’s a good idea?” Chris mused, looking around the room for other hands.

That’s when Kuza and Andy’s shyly went up.

“Alrighty then, I guess you guys can go and check out his house.” Chris sighed.

“All right, let’s get moving!” Danny cheered, clapping his hands together.

“Burgess, wait!” Chris called to me as I tried to slip out the door.

Shit.

I stood back as everyone else made their way out of the room, and it was now just Chris and I.

“What’s up?” I asked nonchalantly.

“Throw in a punch for me.” Chris chuckled.

“Only one?” I asked.

“I’m pretty sure you can make one punch count.” Chris said.

“True, true.” I laughed.

“In all seriousness though…..don’t kill him. Murder was never on any of our agendas.” Chris sighed.

“Why the fuck does everyone think I’m going to kill him?” I exclaimed.

“Probably because everybody’s secretly hoping you will in a sense.” He told me.

“Fair enough.” I said.

“Alright well, I’ll let you guys go. Just be cautious.” Chris warned me.

“Will do.” I called to him, heading to the garage where Kuza, Andy, and James were waiting for me.

I got into the back seat with James, and Kuza started the car and off we went.

“So what’s the plan, mate?” James asked me.

“I don’t really have one.” I admitted in a sigh.

“Oh wow, we really are in for a show.” James chuckled, shaking his head back and forth.

If he only knew.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Hey, where is it from here?” Kuza asked.

“Take a right at the stop sign, and then it’s 4 miles down. There’s no other houses around.” I explained.

“Hmm, so he ran to the woods to hide?” Andy stated.

“He’s not the type to stand up and face the music.” I said.

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement, there was no disagreeing on that point.

As we passed the halfway mark down the silent road I could see in the dark shadows of the sunset that someone was standing near the edge of the road.

“Shit, turn off the lights.” James commanded, not wanting Chance to see us before we got to him.

The car stalked about one more mile down the road, and that’s when I told them to stop.

“Let me out here, so he doesn’t have a chance to run into his house. I’ll talk to him for a little bit by myself. Give me 20 minutes with him alone, and then you guys can come in.” I suggested, starting to get myself out of the car.

“Fine.” Kuza grumbled.

I hopped out of the car, and stealthily made my way up the road and closer to his dimly lit house. My heart was racing, and my mind was about to combust, it wouldn’t shut up to let me think properly.

10 minutes later I was close enough to the house that I could see Chance as he stomped out his cigarette butt, and made his way into his house.

I was sticking close enough to the trees that he wouldn’t be able to spot me, and thankfully he didn’t.

My heart galloped faster as I found myself now on his doorstep, and it just about jumped through my chest as my hand wrapped tightly around the door knob.

‘Keep it together, this is for Bella’ I reminded myself, as I worked up the strength to finally kick in the door and make my way into his foyer.

“What the fuck?!” Chance screamed, as his door busted off its hinges.

“Hey, hey, relax. I won’t hurt you. Well, I’ll only hurt you if you ever hurt Bella...perhaps by cheating or knocking her up.”

I took a deep sigh to give him a second to catch his thoughts.

“Fuck, that’s right….you did do all of those things.” I groaned, crossing my arms and widening my stance.

“Shit!” He yelled, throwing a glass vase at me and running up the staircase.

“Oh come on, Bella always stays and fights. Why can’t you be half as brave as her?” I screamed at him, hoping that would entice him to come down and talk man to man.

That’s right, this was Chance I was talking about, that wasn’t about to happen.

I followed his path up the stairs, and was quickly hinted to his location as there was only one door shut.

“Open the door and talk to me like a fucking man. You did what you did to Bella, now come out and face the consequences.” I hissed, knocking over and over again on the door.

After about 5 minutes had passed in complete silence I made my way to the other side of the hall and waited patiently with my arms crossed.

Finally he conceded and slowly inched the door open.

His face was pale as a ghost, yet he was sweating like he had just been out running under the intense rays of the sun.

“I should’ve known you assholes would be back, fucking up my life once again.” He growled.

“If we’re going to talk about fucking up people’s lives, I think it’s only fair that I mention the fact that you weren’t faithful to Bella, and then knocked her up with a daughter just in hopes that she wouldn’t leave you. Oh, and by the way, that one backfired, didn’t it?” I stated.

“I did what I had to do.” He smuggly informed me.

That’s when I pulled my fist back and let it harshly land right in his face.

It knocked him down so hard and fast, I could count that one for both Chris and I.

“What the fuck?” He screamed, now startled.

“I guess that’s what I just had to do.” I calmly replied, shaking the punch off.

“What do you want? Just tell me so I can get you out of here.” He seethed, an anger now glowing in his eyes.

“Honestly, the main reason was to just do that. You don’t even know how long I’ve been waiting to do that.” I snickered, noticing the instant backlash to his face that my fist has caused.

“You’re a petty piece of shit.” He sighed.

“That’s all you’ve got? “Petty piece of shit” That’s lame.” I said.

“Hmm, that’s not good enough for you? What about rapist, after all that’s all you truly are.” He grinned, getting back up on his feet.

That’s when I hit him with one more solid right hook to the jaw that knocked him down once more.

“For your information, even though I don’t need to explain ANYTHING to you, I’ve never once had sex with Bella without hearing her give her consent. Never.” I growled.

“Yeah right.” Chance grumbled.

“Go ask her for yourself….oh wait….she's actually kill you if you ever even so much were within 100 feet of her, let alone 10 miles within her child.” I warned him.

“You’re wrong, it’s not her child, it’s our child.” Chance attempted to correct me.

“Oh please, go straight to the courts and demand that you get privilege to go and see your daughter, whose mother has been missing for almost 2 years, and was abducted at her, no...your high school. I’m sure they’d love to ask you about why you not only knew where she was, but haven’t come forwards to bring her back home.” I chuckled, showing him that we had all of our asses covered, and if he dared to say something, he’d be the one in trouble.

“Tyler?” Kuza suddenly screamed from the bottom of the staircase.

“I’m up here!” I called back down to him.

“Fuck me, there’s more of you here?” Chance grumbled.

“Oh don’t worry, they’re not the ones you need to be worried about.” I quickly warned him in a low whisper.

“Hey, so what’s up?” Kuza asked, popping his head into the room.

“Bella’s not here, and I was just finishing up.” I responded.

“You didn’t even,” Chance started to say, but I shut him up real quick with a glare.

“Go ahead and tell the guys I’ll be just another minute, and then we can go.” I huffed.

Kuza left, and Chance just angrily stared me down.

“You came here to see if Bella was with me?” Chance chuckled.

“Absolutely not, you prick. I just wanted to get those punches in.” I smirked right back at him.

“You’re so cocky, you and all of your little buddies think everything will just play perfectly for you. What happens when that plan fails though….what happens when Bella’s…...gone.” He asked me in a threatening tone of voice.

“You wouldn’t touch her.” I growled.

“Wouldn’t I?” He taunted.

I stalked forwards until I was close enough to him to grab him by the throat and push him up against the wall.

“Listen to me, and listen well. This is going to be the last warning you will ever get from me, let alone anyone else. If you touch Bella, put her in danger or even just think about trying to get into contact with her or her baby, I will actually kill you. Don't believe me? Just call my bluff, I dare you.” I hissed.

I took a step back, took a deep breath in, and slowly made my way to the door.

“You think you’re different from everyone else, huh? You think that you’re special to her?” He whispered, defeat apparent in his tone.

I rolled my eyes and groaned, did this kid really have a death wish?

It was beginning to look like it.

“If you have something to say, say it. Don’t tiptoe around it.” I demanded.

“I once thought I was special to her too, but then when I see her with you….I realize she only sticks to people who will protect her. She could give a true shit about anyone, as long as she’s safe.” Chance snarled.

A sickening crack shot through the air as my fist connected once more with his face. How dare he try and defame Bella like that, I knew what he was saying was utter bullshit.

“You disgust me.” I stated, my voice cold.

No response, he was out cold.

I took that as my que to leave.

Not even a minute later I was already bounding down the front steps to get to the car.

“Please tell me there’s not a dead body in that house now.” James groaned.

“What makes you say that?” I asked, slipping into the back seat.

“The blood all over your hands leads itself to some assumptions.” He told me.

“Shit.” I exclaimed, looking down to see that there really was a good amount of blood on both of my fists.

“Clean up with this, I don’t think Chris would be too happy if there’s blood all over his car.” Kuza said, throwing me two hand towels.

“Thanks.” I sighed.

“I thought you’d be happier after you kicked his ass a bit.” James mentioned, as the car started and we headed back to the house.

“He just said something that irked me.” I quietly confided to him.

“About Bells?”

“Yeah.” I answered.

“Come on, we all know that you’re the one that knows her better than anyone else. If you don’t believe what he told you, then it’s not true.” James told me.

“All I know for sure is that this is going to be one hell of a long year.” I groaned.
