The Last Snow: A Mother's Love

No Matter What, You'll Always Be Safe

December 21st
1pm ~

“Come on sweetie, I know you don’t love this, but work with me.” I begged as I struggled to get Bianca into her clothes.

We were headed out for the day and considering the fact that it was absolutely freezing outside, I needed her to be nice and warm.

She cried and threw her hands up in the air to try and block me.

“You are my child.” I giggled, realizing she was already a stubborn little thing.

Just like her mama.

I slipped one of her toys in her hand, which gave me just enough time to change her diaper and slip a warm onesie on.

Suddenly she tossed her toy across the room, furrowing her eyebrows at me.

“I know, I know.” I cooed, trying to keep her from crying as I went to finish putting her outfit on.

I slipped on her cute little snowflake leggings and her long sleeve shirt.

Once her jacket was on, I picked her up and put her in her carseat.

I left a tiny note to Gaia and Kylie - just telling them that I needed some fresh air.

That wasn’t totally a lie.

I got my jacket on as well, and just like that we were outside and getting into the car.

I made sure she was secured nice and cozy in the backseat, and then got in the front seat, blasting the heat and pulling up the GPS.

We were headed to a cafe about an hour out of town.

The last two weeks had caused me tons of worry.

Kylie and Gaia had been acting strange these past weeks, there was late night mystery calls, constant texts, and they had made tons of strange comments to me about cherishing Bianca as much as I could.

Maybe I was overthinking this, and they were simply just reminding me of how special my baby was, not that I didn’t already know that thought, And perhaps the calls and texts could easily be contributed to work related issues.

That wasn’t something I could really take a chance on.

The drive ended up not being too bad, thankfully the roads had been salted and everyone was in agreeance to drive the speed limit.

I found plenty of parking, took a good spot right near the front of the building, and made my way to the back seats to get Bianca.

“Come on, let’s go say hi.” I whispered to her, gently picking her car seat and walking into the cafe.

“Good afternoon, how are you two today?” The barista greeted me.

“Not too bad, just meeting an old friend.” I replied.

“Excellent, feel free to sit wherever you would like and when your friend arrives we’ll come and take your order.” He said.

“Thank you very much.” I thanked him, as I went and sat at a booth, slipping her carseat further towards the wall so I could sit next to her.

Her carseat cover was on, and thankfully she was still either fast asleep or happily content.

“Hey there.” I heard a voice say.

I turned around and saw Taylor, and for once I was happy to see him.

For such a long time I had hated his guts, blaming him for not helping me get out at first. However, after I had Cassie and Chance really fuck me over, I realized that Taylor had not done what he did out of malice, hell he even told me about Chance’s end plan.

“Hi!” I cheered, getting up and giving him a big hug.

“Shit, it’s nice to see you happy for once.” He said, taking a seat across from me.

“First thing first, I owe you some serious apologies for giving you such shit, and trying to beat the hell out of you at DJ and Michael’s house. I should’ve realized the situation you were in and that you were still on my side this whole time.” I apologized to him.

“Hey, hey, shh. It’s ok, I promise. I was never mad at you, hell, how could I be?” He asked me.

“I still could have been more understanding.” I sighed.

To my luck, a waitress came up to us so we could thankfully drop that subject.

We both ordered a large latte as well as a breakfast sandwich, and there was a bit of silence between us.

“So, I see that you’ve brought a special guest.” Taylor smiled.

“Oh my goodness, yes. How could I forget?” I chuckled.

I unzipped her seat cover and saw that she indeed was awake and happily smiling up at me with one of her pacifiers in.

“Can I say hi?” He asked.

“Of course.” I told him, gently unbuckling her, and taking her into my arms.

“Oh my goodness...you’re a mom.” He sighed, shaking his head in clear disbelief.

“The world ceases to be crazy.” I said.

“Hello, little munchkin.” He cooed, reaching out to touch her hand.

She let out a happy cheer and gripped her hand around his two fingers.

“Watch out, she’s got quite the grip.” I chuckled.

“She’s beautiful Bella, what’s her name?” He wondered.

“Bianca.” I said.

“Gorgeous.” He cooed.

“You have no idea how hard it is to pick out a child’s name. That’s the thing they’re going to get called forever...you screw that up and they’ll hate you forever when they’re older.” I giggled.

“I think you did great, and I’m sure she’ll agree.” Taylor said.

I carefully maneuvered Bianca so that she was back in her carseat as our drinks and food came to the table.

I got her her pacifier once again and got her all swaddled up and comfy under her blanket, jacket, and then I zipped the car seat cover back up so that her feet were covered but her face was still exposed.

“Thank you.” I thanked the waitress as she came back with a couple of waters for us as well.

“Feel free to not answer this as I’m not so knowledgeable about the rules of asking about giving birth...but, um...how the hell did you actually have her?” He asked me, curiosity lacing his voice.

All I could do was laugh.

To me it was a silly question, one that I guess I never gave too much thought to, but I guess it made sense that Taylor was curious. Afterall, he knew I didn’t just check into a hospital.

“Well, I was at the main house I’d been in, as I went there after I figured out what Chance’s motives were. Then on April 27th I went into labour, and Chris, Kuza, and Tyler B. helped me deliver her.” I explained.

“How did you make it thought, isn’t that dangerous to not be at a hospital?” He wondered.

“There was a lot of research done beforehand, so besides from not having serious pain meds it was...as ok as the situation could have been.” I said.

“I’m glad the two of you are healthy and safe.” He told me.

I gave him a polite smile, and sat further back into the booth.

That wasn’t exactly my favorite topic. I honestly hated thinking back to that day.

Don’t get me wrong...I treasure the day my little angel came into this world, it’s who helped me bring her into this world that frustrated me.

I had no problem that Tyler helped me...I’ve learned to stop denying the fact that I do care for him.

It was Chris and Kuza that I was frustrated at, I felt like I owed them now, even though when I had a clear mind I knew I owed them absolutely nothing.

“Hey, I’m sorry. That was not okay for me to bring up.” Taylor apologized.

“It’s not your fault, it’s still just a bit of a sore spot for me. Tell me about yourself though. How is life back home in the real world?” I questioned him.

“Well I’m just about to finish up my first semester of college, I work a part time job as a librarian’s assistant, and that’s really about it.” He said.

“What do you do in your free time? I need to know!” I exclaimed, reaching across the table and grabbing his hand.

“Excited are we?” He chuckled.

“My bad. I’m just excited to hear everything so that I can vicariously live through you.” I replied with a laugh.

“Alright. To be honest with you my free time really just consists of my being lazy and just enjoying small things. I love to watch movies, binge watch shows, play with my dogs, enjoy the outdoors, but majority of my time is spent worrying over you.” He admitted.

“Stop worrying about me. Enjoy your life, revel in the fact that you’re free, and just be happy. Don’t waste your life thinking about me.” I scoffed.

“Why do you say that?” He asked, sadness in his voice.

“I’m a lost cause. I can’t win...I won’t win. I love to create this fantasy in my head that I could win one day, and live a normal life again and be able to raise my daughter so that she could live a normal life….but then I take off the rose colored glasses.” I whispered, not wanting Bianca to hear that, even though I knew she wouldn’t understand a single word.

“The fight’s not over Bella.” He said.

“Not yet, but I can feel it coming to an end. I’ve been gone now for about 7 almost 8 months and nothing bad has happened. When things are good for short bursts of time, I enjoy it as I know it’s just luck. However, when things are good for this long….it just means the horrific end is just around the corner.” I sighed.

“Whatever may be coming...I know you’ll be strong. You always are.” He told me.

“I could give a shit about myself, it’s Bianca I’m worried about, and that’s mainly why I called you here. I need a plan in case something really goes down.” I explained.

“Just tell me what I’d need to do and I’ll do it.” He said.

“If I felt something bad were to happen I’d just give you a call and have you pick Bianca up at the address that I’ll text to your phone right now, take her far away from here, and when it’s safe, get into contact with my mom and let her take Bianca.” I told him.

“Absolutely, I’d be happy to do that for you. The longest it would take me to get here is 3 hours, so as long as you text me before 3am I can get her out of there before morning.” Taylor assured me.

“Thank you. It really means the world to me. As long as she’s safe, healthy, and happy...I’ll live, no matter where I may be.” I thanked him, not being able to convey how much this really meant to me.

Just before he was about to say something else, we were interrupted as my phone started ringing.

“Where are you and Bianca?” Kylie asked, the second I answered the phone.

“We just took a little drive, I needed some air.” I lied.

“Shit Bella, you could have let either one of us know, we thought you were in trouble.” She sighed, obviously very worked up.

“Kylie, just relax alright. I promise I’m ok. Unless there’s something you know…” I replied.

“The only thing I know is that Gaia and I were having a fucking heart attack when we couldn’t find you. Please just tell us where you’re going and when.” Kylie told me, hanging up the call.

“Everything alright?” Taylor asked.

“Kylie seemed very upset that I had gone without letting her know.” I explained.

Taylor’s face turned serious, and he looked me dead in the eyes.

He reached across the table, grabbed my hand and said

“Bella listen to me. Don’t tell anyone where you are going outside of your house, never leave Bianca alone with them, and make sure that you’re extra aware of your surroundings. Don’t let them invite anyone else in, and make sure that you don't’ see anyone else around the house. I don’t say that to be a dick or seem overbearing...but I’m starting to see what you’re saying. I think you really do need to be careful, not that I’m saying Kylie and Gaia know anything we don’t, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.” He warned me.

“I agree, as much as it sucks.” I chuckled.

“It was wonderful seeing you Bella, and that precious little baby of yours.” Taylor cooed.

“It was nice seeing you too, especially now that I know we’ve got each other’s backs.” I told him.

The two of us got our jackets on, and Taylor was kind enough to help me carry Bianca’s car seat outside for me and even got it into the backseat.

“Goodbye precious, you be good for your momma.” Taylor said to Bianca, just before shutting her door.

“Thanks again for everything. I owe you.” I smiled, giving him a hug.

“No you don’t, you don’t owe anyone but your family anything.” He sternly told me.

“I’ll try and remember that.” I whispered, as I pulled out of the hug.

“Last thing, Bella. No matter what happens, go down fighting like the Bella we all know and love, the Bella that quite frankly scared me shitless, and has big enough balls to stand up to those assholes when everyone else put their tail between their legs.” He called to me, making his way back to his car.

I shook my head at his comment, and hopped into the driver’s seat.

Looking back into the rearview mirror I saw Bianca getting sleepy and ready to drift off, that’s when I put my car in reverse and started to head back to the house.

“I’m going to keep you safe little one.” I promised her.

At least I could go back to the house feeling more relaxed, knowing that besides from Tyler’s promise to make sure she’s safe, I had Taylor who would actually take her to my mom.

As I said earlier, I didn’t care about my wellbeing as long as my baby was safe.

She’s all that mattered to me now.

She was my world.

Notes

Uh oh, is Bella going to give up hope? After literal years of fighting back?

How will the bands' plan work out, will it go over perfectly or are they overthinking everything so much that it'll blow up in their faces.

I'd love to hear what you guys think! Feel free to subscribe and rate the story as well :)
