Vampire Heart
Chapter 2
The guys and girls were at the skate park for the day. Balz did a 360-rail slide and it was badass. “I bet I could do that”, Ghost says. Balz replies, “Be my guest.” Vinny jumps on his board and tries to repeat the move but falls flat on his ass. Me and the guys were keeled over laughing. “What’s so funny?” the most beautiful voice I’d ever heard asked. I turned to see a bunch of girls standing there, with Raven in the middle. She is so beautiful and I’ve been wanting to ask her out, but haven’t had the guts. Chris says, “Vinny tried to replicate Balz’s 360 rail slide and fell on his ass.” Raven just smiles and says, “360 huh? That’s kid’s stuff.” She then jumps on her board and did the move flawlessly. I thought to myself, ‘I love you.’ This girl is going to be the absolute death of me.
After a long day at the skate park the guys and girls went our separate ways. The girls headed to Chris’ place. It was just me and Raven and I ask, “Can I walk you home?” “Sure”, she replies. As we walk I can’t help but stare and she asks, “What are you staring at?” I reply, “You. Raven you’re so beautiful.” She shoves my shoulder and says, “Liar.” She really has no idea how gorgeous she is. Once we reach her house I say, “Raven I’ve been wanting to ask you this for a while.” She looks at me confused and I ask, “Would you go out on a date with me?” Finally, after what felt like forever she says, “Ricky I’d love to.” She kisses my cheek then goes inside and I head home smiling like an idiot.
Once I got inside my dad asks, “How did it go today?” “Fine”, I reply. Then I add, “Ricky asked me out.” Dad asks, “Ricky Olson?” I nod and he says, “That’s great kulta. He’s a nice kid.” Mom comes in the kitchen and asks, “What did I miss?” Dad says, “Our little girl has a date with Ricky.” Mom says, “Ville you owe me 20 bucks.” I ask, “You guys bet that he would ask me out?” Mom replies, “Sweetie it’s been clear to us that he likes you for a while. We think he could possibly be your mate.” I say, “I don’t know about that, but we’ll just see how the first date goes.” Then I go up to my room.
As I sat on my bed I couldn’t stop thinking about what mom said. To be honest, I never thought I had a chance with Ricky. I never thought I was his type. Could Ricky honestly be my mate? I shook off the thought and turned up Ghost on my iPod and picked up my tattered copy of Pet Sematary. I’ve read this book about a thousand times, but to me it never gets old. After a bit I fell into a deep sleep.
