The Taste Of Blood Remains

*Cassidy's POV*

I woke up to the screeching of my alarm clock, I rolled over and hit it multiple times until it turned off, I rolled back over and closed my eyes, trying to go back to sleep, I really couldn't be fucked going to work today, I hate socializing. Just as I was falling back asleep I heard my bedroom door creak open and the sound of bare feet padding across the carpet of my room, I felt a cold draft on my back as someone lifted the covers up and shuffled under them, "Tam?" I asked expecting it to be my sister, I got a fright when I heard a male voice, "It's Austin" He said, I jumped up and wrapped the covers around me, "Austin!! I'm only in my fucking underwear, how did you get in!?" I asked, I was scared and confused as well as being tired, "Oh please don't act like I've never seen it all before and Tamara let me in" He said laughing, I rolled my eyes as I started to go red, it's true, he walked in on me multiple times before while i was changing and in the shower, he says it was an 'accident' but I don't believe him, I made a spinning motion with my fingers for him to turn around, he huffed and turned himself around as I jumped up and got dressed. I whistled so he could turn back around, he turned around and smiled at me, "Why are you here anyway?" I asked as I pulled on my jacket and shoes as well as turning on my hair straighteners, "Well, I have a proposition for you" He said, I cocked an eye at him as I walked out of my room with him in tow, "Tam I'm away, I'll see you later" I shouted as I walked down the stairs, "Wait!" She shouted running out her room in her pyjamas and jumping on me, "Bye!" She shouted into my ear, I laughed with Austin as I carried her down the stairs, "Tamara, come here!" Mom shouted, I rolled my eyes and set her down as she moved to the kitchen slowly, my mom came to the door, "I'm away to work" I said, she just looked at me and turned away as she started to speak to my sister, "Bye Mrs Harold" Austin shouted, all he got was a hum, I rolled my eyes and jumped into Austin's car. As we were driving to my work we stopped at Starbucks and grabbed a coffee, "Okay, so what's this proposal?" I asked as we got back in the car, "Come to Warped with us?" He asked, I looked at him with wide eyes, I nearly spat out my coffee, "What?" I asked, he laughed a little, "Come. To. Warped. With. Us?" He said breaking it down, I thought for a minute and shook my head no, "Why not!?" He asked, looking at me, "It took me a year and a half to actually talk and open up to you and two years for the guys, I don't think so" I said laughing, he just scoffed, "I'm not asking you to stand up and give a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation on who you are in front of everyone, I'm just simply asking you to come on the road with us" He laughed, again I shook my head no, "No" I said, I heard him sigh as he pulled up into the mall car park, "Please just promise you'll think about it?" He asked, practically begging me, I sighed and nodded, "Fine, I'll think about it" I said, giving him a quick hug before leaving.

Finally I arrived at work, "Hey, Cass!!" Rowan shouted as she walked towards me and high fives me, "Hey babe!" I said, smacking her hand and then bum and walking through to the back room and dumping my stuff, Rowan is my manager, she's the cutest dumpling ever to be honest, I pulled off my jacket and put my name badge on, I walked out and behind the counter, I put on Kerrang! On the TV and watched as three teenage girls fangirled over OM&M shirts, I couldn't help but laugh at them, I remember when I was like that at my first Foo Fighters concert, they wouldn't last five minutes if they actually met OM&M and I spend basically everyday with them, they eventually came up and paid, 'Wait, aren't you Cassidy Harold?" One of them asked, I smiled and nodded as I scanned their clothes, "OMG You're Austin's girlfriend!!" One of them screamed as they jumped up and down, I shook my head laughing, "No, we're just friends, I promise guys" I said as I bagged their clothes, I heard them giggle to each other, "That's $34.60 please" I said, one of them handed me over two $20 notes and I gave them their change, receipt and bag, they thanked me and left giggling, this was going to be a long day. After working for 3 hours straight I finally got my first break at 12pm, I walked around to the nearest Starbucks and grabbed a gluten free brownie and a black tea, I sat down in the corner at the window and watched as people walked by, over thousands of thoughts and problems but all we see is an empty shell of a stranger. As I was watching the day go by I heard a familiar voice, I looked up and saw two girls about my height but a bigger build, I noticed their faces as they turned around, it was Anya and Olivia, they were part of the group that bullied me in high school, Anya used to go out with him the one that started it all, if they saw me I would die, thankfully I came off break in five so I slowly slipped out and walked back to work, as I walked in I nodded two hours one tall and lanky the other was short and a good build, the tall one turned around and I realized it was him I quickly turned the other way and practically ran into the staff room, "Yo what's happening?" Rowan asked as I ran in and closed the door behind me, panicking, "He's here!!" I said looking at her with terror in my eyes, she looked at me wide eyed, "No way!?" She asked, I nodded, she rushed over to me and sat me down, I told Rowan everything, she was one of my best friends, whether she was my manager or not, "Okay, you stay in here until he leaves and then you go can back to work" She said, I nodded and smiled before hugging her as she walked out, I hope he leaves soon.

Eventually Rowan came back through and told me he was gone, I sighed with relief and walked out and back behind the cash register, as I was wiping it down I saw there was a wallet on the top, I picked it up and looked inside it for ID, it was his, I prayed to god that he didn't come back for it straight away, but I was unlucky, I saw him waltzing back in with his friend, he came right up to the counter and I froze and dropped the wallet by accident, I cursed myself for it, he looked at me like I was a weirdo, "Can I help you?" I asked bluntly, "Umm yeah actually, I think I left my wallet here?" He said, I nodded and bent down to pick up the wallet, "Woah, Tony, that ass, am I right!?" I heard him wolf whistle and give his friend, Tony, a high five, I rolled my eyes and stood back up, "Here" I said handing him it and turning around to fold some clothes in boxes behind me, "Hey sweetie, call me" he said, leaving his number on the counter, I turned around and scoffed at him, "I'd rather chew my own arm off, thank you" I said, ripping the piece of paper up in front of him and throwing it in the trash, his face dropped from a cheek smile to an upset look, I heard Tony laugh as he pulled him out of the shop, I saw them bickering outside, I laughed at them until I heard him say something, "Dude, I know her from somewhere?" I froze immediately, I watched them bicker a little before he came rushing back inside, I quickly ran into the staff room again, "What is it now?" Rowan asked laughing, "He knows who I am, he noticed me!" I said, slowly walking away from the door and sitting down, "What how!?" She asked, I then explained to her about the wallet incident, she laughed at me, "At least you faced you fe-" she stopped when there was a knock at the door, followed by a polite, "Excuse me" I knew it was him, I quickly hid in the cabinet which thankfully I was small enough for, "Can I help you sir?" Rowan asked, "Umm yeah, I saw a girl come in here, I was just wondering if you knew her name?" He asked, I laughed a little, of course she fucking knows my name, she's my boss, "I do" Rowan said before closing the door, I burst out laughing before sliding out of the cabinet and closing the door behind me, "You should have seen the look on his face!" She laughed sitting back down, I shook my head and sat down again, "Hey how about you go home early, he doesn't sound like one to give up easily" she said, I nodded, "He's not" I replied before texting Austin and gathering my things together,

I locked my phone and grabbed my bag, "See you late Rowan" I said, before hugging her and walking out, I saw him leaning over the counter, waiting on me while talking to Tony, I slowly ran out, careful that he didn't see me, I stopped at Starbucks and got Austin and I a Vanilla Latte each, when I reached the parking lot I saw his car waiting on me, as I was about to jump in, I heard someone shout, "Dude, I swear I know her!" I turned around and it was him he was walking towards his car, which Austin was parked next to, he's had it ever since the end of high school, he was closely followed by Tony, my eyes widened as I turned around and quickly jumped in the car, breathing a sigh of relief, "What's up?" Austin asked, I just shook my head, he sighed and drove away, "Are you going to tell me what's wrong?" He asked as he watched my blank expression change to an sad one, I just shrugged and drunk my latte, he rolled his eyes but didn't persist anymore, thankfully.
