The Coco Quinn Guide

Asks, Stalking and OCD

“But Coco,” Kellin groaned. I rolled my eyes and sipped on my coffee. It’s the only way I can tolerate Kellin’s whining. “It’s your duty as my sister.”

“I don’t like duties. That’s why I turned down being a prefect.”

“Come on, Pops.” He knows I hate him calling me that. That’s probably why he called me that. “You’re my only hope. You’re the only girl I know.” He told me. “Although some people have tried to dispute that.”

“That’ll make me talk to her for you. Keep going.” I mocked.

“I’ll do anything.” He begged.

“Anything?” I asked.

“Yeah. You name it, I’ll owe you.”

Now that is interesting. I like the idea of having something on Kellin. I feel like there will come a time where I need something from Kellin. I annoy him far too much for him to just help me out. This could come in useful.

“Okay, I’ll do it.” I agreed.

“You’re the best! I love you!” Sure he does. Kellin ruffled my hair and ran away from me. I watched him go and turned back to my coffee. I don’t think I thought this through. I scanned the cafeteria for the She Devil herself.

Katelynne is just so ugh. I really don’t like her. I don’t think she likes me much either. I have no idea what Kellin sees in her. She’s just so bland. So boring. So funny looking. Perhaps if she sorted her eyebrows out it would be different but as it were they look like a small child has drew on her face with a sharpie.

“Hello Coco,” Jaime said, appearing from nowhere. It could be worse. He could have appeared from the girl’s bathroom. He sat down and smiled warmly at me. “What are you doing?”

“Looking for Katelynne.” I explained.

“Ew. Why?” he scrunched up his face.

“Kellin.” I said simply.

I know Jaime quite well. We’ve known one another ever since we were little kids. Jaime’s parents and mine are friends. So we always get forced into one another’s company. It’s not that I don’t like Jaime. He’s harmless really. He’s just a little daft. He’s also best friends with Mike. Perhaps if he wasn’t I’d like him more.

“Have you taken my socks?” Jaime asked me seriously. I think he’s gone insane. “I had them before gym. But now they’re gone. They’re my favourite ones too. They have smiley faces all over them.” He explained.

“Jaime what would I want with your socks?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” He shrugged. It was actually me who stole his socks but that’s beside the point. I thought I could use them to bribe him in the future. I like having a hold over people. “You’ve been avoiding me ever since we locked you in the cupboard last week. I thought maybe you wanted to get your own back.”

“Jaime, I’m always avoiding you.” I said simply.

“Oh,” he nodded. “So what are you doing after school?”

“Stalking Katelynne. I told you.”

“Can I come?” he asked excitedly.

“No.”

“But I want to come.”

“But I don’t want you to come.” I countered.

He looked at me for a while but then started laughing. “You’re being sarcastic. You’re kidding.” He carried on laughing. He thinks I’m joking. I’m not.

I thought I’d got away with it. After school I was almost a block away when Jaime ran over, grabbing my arm. He fell into step with me and gave me a big, goofy smile. “Where’s Katelynne?” he asked.

“I don’t know.”

“Let’s think,” he frowned. “If I was Katelynne where would I be?” he asked out loud. “Up my own ass probably.” He added and started laughing. I almost did too. Almost.

“The library.” I said. Jaime grinned at me and took my hand.

He pulled me along to the library a few blocks away. We went inside and I felt myself get all itchy. All this dust. All these old books. I could never understand how anyone could comfortably study here. It’s gross. We walked over to the nerd section where the tables were and I saw her. Her nose wrinkled up. She can probably sense that we’re nearby.

“She’s studying.” Jaime muttered. It doesn’t surprise me. I don’t think she has any friends. Friends that are normal humans anyway.Suddenly Katelynne turned around and I panicked. I grabbed Jaime and pulled him behind a bookshelf. He slammed up against it and groaned. “Coco.” He whined.

“Sorry?” I tried. I turned to look at Katelynne and Jaime copied me.

“Why are we just watching her?” he asked, sounding completely confused with the matter.

“We just are.” I replied.

“We are creepy people.” He noted.

“We’re here because she isn’t talking to Kellin and he’s having a hissy fit over it.” I explained.
“So why are we hiding and not asking?”

“I’m readying myself.” I told him.

“He could have chosen someone nicer to like.” Jaime suddenly said. “She’s as interesting as a wet fish.”

“Oh, I know.” I nodded.

“Why are you helping Kellin then?”

“So I can get something from him later.” I shrugged.

“Wow,” he muttered. “I didn’t think you were that clever.”

“Thanks.” I replied dryly. “I’ll talk to an enemy for him to owe me.”

“It’s okay to have enemies, Coco.” He told me. “It just means you have something that you believe in heaps.” He sounds too wise to be Jaime. “Or you’re just a fat bitch.” There we go.
“Watch it!” I warned and grabbed his hair. I pulled and he yelped.

“I didn’t mean it!” Jaime exclaimed. “You’re not fat! You’re not a bitch!” he yelled and I let him go. He puffed out and fixed his hair. “But you don’t have a fan club either.” He said once he’d moved a safe distance away. That may be true. I have offended a few people in my sixteen years on this planet.

“Oi dumb and dumber!” Katelynne called. We both looked up and gasped. Katelynne was storming over like she was returning an iron back to Sears.

“Excuse me? What did you call us?” I raised my eyebrows.

“Dumb and dumber.” She repeated.

“You’re dumber.” I told Jaime.

“Am not.” He scrunched his face up.

“What are you doing?!” Katelynne demanded.

“Not stalking you!” Jaime rushed.

“Smooth.” I rolled my eyes.

“We were watching.” I said.

“That’s just as bad.”

“It isn’t.” I frowned.

“I could phone the police.” Katelynne threatened.

“Good luck,” I snorted. “Elusive is my middle name.”

“Mine too!” Jaime added.

“No, yours is Angelina,” she told me and turned to Jaime. “And yours Alberto.” She said and I snorted.

“Shut up,” Jaime grumbled. “Who’s the stalker now?!” he threw at Katelynne. “We don’t know yours.”

“It’s probably bubblegum.” I giggled.

“Stalker!” Jaime yelled again. He just doesn’t know where to stop. Bless him.

“Shut up.” I told him.

“Look,” Katelynne sighed. “What do you want?”

“I’m here for Kellin.” I explained and her face seemed to brighten. She smiled softly and I rolled my eyes. If Kellin marries her I think I’ll jump off of a building.

“What does he want?” she asked and started to twirl her hair around her finger coyly.

“He’s scared you’re mad at him. Are you?” I asked.

“No,” she shook her head. “I’m mad at you though.”

“God!” Jaime exclaimed. “Don’t be so rude.”

“What?” she gasped.

“No one likes a bitch.” I don’t think anyone has ever spoken to her that way before. She’s standing open mouthed. “You could have just answered but you didn’t. Everyone thinks you’re so lovely. But you’re not. You’re a yucky bitch!” he finished.

Katelynne looks as though she’s going to explode. Her ears are bright red. I’ve never seen Jaime like that before. He’s standing up tall, smiling proudly. “Fuck off!” she exclaimed and went back to her table.

We turned and walked outside the library. I took Jaime’s arm and we started to walk back home. Or I was anyway. “Why did you do that?” I asked.

“She was being rude. You’re like my family.” He shrugged. I couldn’t be his family. I’d die from embarrassment.

We stopped outside my house and Jaime waved to me. I looked up to my bedroom window and gasped. I felt a lump in my throat as though I was going to be sick. I ran quickly inside and my head started to pound. I felt as though I was going to be sick. Deep breaths. In. Out. In. Out. I reached my room and ran over to my bed. I straightened the covers and stood back and sighed. It was better now.

Notes

Hey!

I hope you're all okay. How was this? Jaime is a family friend, who knew. Please give me some feedback on this one. Are you liking it? We meet Tony and Ana in the next one. Is there anything you'd like to happen?

I am in a super good mood today - and not drunk - because a youtuber Chloe Ariadne has given me a huge shout out and talked about Keep Kind in one of her videos. Yay for that. Follow your dreams kids.

Much love

xoxo
