I'm Lost Without Your Warmth

Chapter 3

I walk through the open glass doors leading into the record building. There are, of course, a bunch of bustling business men and women around that are rushing past me. I sigh and make my way to the overpopulated elevators and wait as more and more people go in and out of the elevators. I wait 5 minutes before I may finally get on the elevator. I pass through the brass enclosure and the doors close behind me and I press ‘5.’
Once I reach the floor I head to my office and rush past coworkers and bands and stage equipment that was laying around. It seems that whenever band members show up it just rains guitar pics and mic stands. I open my door and walk around the wooden desk to get to my chair.
Kate left me a note on my desk which has scrawled on it –Hey girlie, the band actually needs to get that meeting earlier so you need to get to the restaurant at 10 am. Sorry for any inconvenience L-
I glance at the clock which read, 9:53 am, oh god. I hurriedly pack my laptop and contracts and paperwork into my bag and hurry out again. Hurry, hurry, hurry, you don’t want to be late for your first meeting. I’m sure Kate will get wind of this and fire me. Oh god. It’s only my second day and I’m already going to get in trouble.
I ditch the elevators and run and fall down the stairs to get to the parking garage that was relatively close. I get through the glass doors again and run down the sidewalk and enter the parking garage. 1-B2. 1-B3. 1-B4. 1-B5. There it is! I open my car with a little ding accompanying it and slide into the driver’s seat. Throwing my bag into the seat next to me and I put the keys in the ignition and immediately begin backing out and exiting the garage.
9:57. I whir down the streets, racing through yellow lights and going 10 mph over the limit. Traffic has died down completely, almost everyone is already at work. I finally come to a screeching halt in front of the hamburger place drawing attention to my car from the few patrons. I take a parking spot and crawl out of my car and collect all the papers and my computer. My vans thump against the black pavement and I hurriedly open the glass door of the restaurant that had the hours stuck onto the glass. Once I’ve gotten into the little place I glance around for anyone that looks like they’re in a band. I spot a few teens (assumedly skipping school) and a few families with small children but no 20 somethings in black skinnies and band tees.
I groan and walk to an open table and tug a wooden chair and fall into it. I’m only 3 minutes late they couldn’t have left. I grasp my hair that fell out of my ponytail and tug it quickly. I just can’t understand what I did wrong so quickly. I’m sure they left and already contacted Kate about it. Oh my god, I’m going to be fired.
I pull my phone from my pocket and message Kate.
The boys aren’t here and I was only 3 minutes late, have they contacted you? Before I can send the message the entrance opens. Criteria of them being the band; 20 somethings, black skinnies, tattoos, band tees and they meet every single quality. I stand from my chair and send a small wave to them when they look in my area as they scan the room. One smiles at me and sends back a wave. He points me out to the other boys and they approach the table. I grasp the sides of my pants as they get closer.
They all look so happy like signing paper work is similar to playing on stage for them. I smile and they finally get to the table. All of them look like rock stars in person honestly, they surely didn’t last time I saw them. Although one of them looks unfamiliar, maybe they replaced someone. I look to the new member and he makes eye contact with me. He is the first to step forward from the group and introduce himself. The nameless man reaches his hand out to me and I grasp it.

Notes

Hello! This chapter was rather hectic for me and often times I did not know how to express certain emotions Arumi was feeling so that's most likely why this chapter is somewhat disconnected. My apologies.
