Would You Still Be There?

Austin and I made it to school rather quickly; me freezing even though I had a jacket on. My fingers felt numb, and all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and be warm. When we entered the building, Austin lead me over to his locker, which mine was right next to, and sat down, pulling me onto his lap. He wrapped his arms around me, and I cuddled into him, trying to get warm.

"So what did your sister say when you told her you were going over to a friend's house?" Austin asked me quietly. I smiled.

"She didn't really say anything. Just told me it was okay, and off I went to yours," I replied just as quietly.

"Well, I'm glad you did," Austin said with a smile.

"Hmm. So am I," I said, also smiling. Austin leaned up, and I met him halfway, pressing my lips onto his own. We kissed slowly, keeping it gentle, and Austin prodded my lower lip with his tongue. I let him in, and I cupped his face with both of my hands, not wanting to ever pull away.

"No fucking way," I heard the voice of one of my friends say. I pulled my lips off of Austin's, and I looked over at Ben. Ben was probably the only one besides me and Austin who didn't talk about video games all the time.

"Good morning," Austin said, and I got off his lap. He stood up and helped me up, pulling me into his arms.

"Since when?" Ben asked, smile on his thin lips.

"This morning. I stayed over at his house last night," I said.

"Ooh," Ben said, making me blush.

Austin chuckled. "Nothing happened."

"Well, I did sleep in my underwear," I said, nudging Austin.

"Only because you were too tired to put on the shirt I had," he said, nudging me back.

"So... How are you guys?" Ben asked.

"We're good," Austin replied, "how are you?" Ben shrugged. He'd recently been dumped, and I knew he was going through a tough time. He was just good at covering it up.

"I'm okay, I guess," he muttered. I felt bad for him. I knew how much he loved her. They'd been dating since freshman year, and he was taking it hard.

"Just don't dwell on it too much," I said, and he nodded.

After school, Austin walked me home, our fingers interlocked. The weather was still on the cold side, and it looked like it was going to rain.

We reached my front door just as it started sprinkling, and I smiled up at my boyfriend.

"I had a good day today. And I'm happy you're finally mine," I muttered quietly. Austin only smiled and swooped down, pressing his lips onto mine for what seemed like the hundredth time today. Austin placed his hands on my hips, and he pulled me into him gently. I placed my hands on the small of his back, lacing my fingers together as we kissed. Austin pulled away and pecked my lips once more.

"I'll see you tomorrow," he said softly, and I nodded. I watched him leave, and when he was gone, I headed inside with a huge smile on my face. Elizabeth was sitting on the couch, watching tv when I entered.

"Hey Lizzy," I said happily, sitting down next to her. Anthony entered the room with a smug look, telling me he knew something.

"How was your day, Cass?" He asked, and I shrugged.

"It was good," I said. He nodded.

"Yeah? How's Austin?" He asked, and I looked at him.

"I saw you two, so don't deny it," he said, grinning.

"What did they do?" Elizabeth asked.

"They kissed," was all he said.

"Okay, so it's now a crime for me to kiss my boyfriend?" I asked.

"No way. Are you serious?" Elizabeth asked, and I nodded, a huge grin spreading on my lips.

"Since when?" She asked, focusing her attention on me instead of the television.

"This morning," I said as my face heated up.

"Aww Cassie I'm so happy for you!" She exclaimed.

"Hey, only Austin gets to call me that," I said, and she held up her hands in defense.

"Whatever. Now, go do your homework and your chores. You can do mine too," she said.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Do you really think I'm an idiot? I know you went Austin's house yesterday," she said with a roll of her eyes.

"Fine, but you don't tell mom or dad, okay?" I asked, and she gave me a thumbs up. Having siblings is great.
