Would You Still Be There?
Chapter Four: So Fuck You, You Can Go Cry Me An Ocean, & Leave Me Be
Austin had asked to come over today, since it was now Saturday. I had obviously agreed, so all I was doing was sitting on the couch on my phone, wearing only a tank top and shorts despite the rain outside. I heard Austin knock on the door, and I got up quickly, rushing over to the door.
I stood there for a few seconds so it didn't look like I was too eager to see him, and I fixed my hair and calmed my breathing. When I pulled the door open, I was surprised to see Austin standing on my doorstep with a ginger guy I didn't recognize.
"Oh, hey Austin! How are you?" I asked awkwardly as I let the two in. Austin chuckled as he led the ginger in, and I closed the door behind them.
"Cassie, this is Alan, Alan, this is," Austin sighed, "this is Cassidy."
"So you're Cassidy!? Man I've heard a lot about you! Austin never stops-"
"Okay! I think she gets it," Austin said, and he slapped Alan on the back of his head. I smiled and bit my lip.
"Where's your bathroom?" Alan asked.
"Down the hall, first door on the left," I said, smile still present. Alan thanked me and left for the bathroom. I met Austin's eyes, and he looked away quickly.
"So... you don't stop talking about me?" I asked, face reddening. Austin scratched the back of his neck awkwardly as his cheeks turned a light shade of pink.
"Yeah, I guess I do," he laughed nervously. I looked down at the floor, and I heard the bathroom door squeak open.
"So guys, what are we gonna do?" Alan asked.
"Cassidy! Come here please!" My mom called to me from the laundry room. I sighed and held up a finger, and I trudged into the room.
"What?" I asked, slightly irritated.
"Caitlin told me you skipped school on Monday. Why?" She asked. I groaned.
"Austin was over, and we stayed up until eight playing video games, and we both woke up late, so neither of us went," I said.
"He spent the night!? I thought I told you; no boys over when you're by yourself!" She whisper-yelled at me so Alan and Austin wouldn't hear.
"Well I'm sorry! It was getting late, and we were both tired, so we fell asleep. I promise, nothing happened," I said. My mom sighed, and she set down a folded item of clothing.
"I just don't want anything to happen. You know how boys are," she said.
"But Austin's different," I said. She sighed and rubbed her face.
"You really like him, don't you?" She asked quietly, and I nodded. She sighed again.
"Well... just don't let him force you into anything you don't want to do," she said. I nodded, and she shooed me away, so I returned to the living room where Austin and Alan were now playing Borderlands 2.
"Sorry about that, guys," I sighed as I plopped down next to Austin. He glanced over at me, and in that second, he died.
"Fuck!" He muttered angrily. I giggled, and he turned to me fully.
"So you must have had an idea of what you wanted to do since you were the one who wanted to come over," I said with a smirk.
"Well... I hadn't even thought of that if I'm honest," he said. I playfully rolled my eyes.
"Well, going outside is off the list cause it's raining," I said. Austin nodded in agreement whilst Alan stayed silent. The lingering silence that followed my statement was disturbed Alan's phone, and he swiftly pulled it out of his pocket.
"Hey mom... alright, see you in a bit," he hung up and looked over at us.
"My mom wants me home," he sighed. Austin nodded.
"I guess I'll drive you home then," Austin replied.
"It was great meeting you, Cassidy," Alan said as he stood up.
"You too, Alan," I smiled. Austin pulled me into a hug, and I returned it tightly. They both left, leaving me alone once again.
