Would You Still Be There?

Chapter Two

I was sitting at home alone on my couch, watching pointless television when I heard a knock on the front door. I paused my show and got up with a sigh, trudging over to the door, assuming it was a guy who wanted to sell me something. I pulled the door open and ran a hand through my hair, meeting Austin's eyes.

"Oh. Hey Austin," I said nervously, and I opened the gate, letting him in. I closed the gate behind him, then I closed the door, and I turned to face him, totally forgetting that the only items of clothing I was wearing was a huge white t-shirt and underwear. He eyed me up and down, a smirk on his lips.

"How are you?" He asked me, and I shrugged. I returned to the couch, sitting with one leg crossed over the other. Austin joined me on the couch, sitting right next to me despite the large amount of space where he could've sat. I crossed my arms over my chest, and Austin placed a hand on my knee.

"Kylee told me what you told her on Friday," he said quietly. I groaned and threw my head back. Of course she told him. She never keeps any secrets.

"I had a feeling she would," I grumbled.

"So you're bored of our friends, huh?" Austin asked with a slight chuckle. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Yeah. I did make a new friend on Friday though," I admitted.

"Oh yeah?" Austin asked. I nodded.

"His name is Kyle. He's pretty cool," I said. I reopened my eyes and looked at Austin.

"So why'd you come over, anyway?" I asked.

"To hangout. Why? Do you want me to leave?" He asked, looking a little crestfallen. I smiled.

"No, just want expecting you. If I knew you'd be coming over, I'd have put clothes on," I said. Austin laughed.

"In my opinion, you look great with just that on," he said. I blushed and bit my lip.

"You wanna stay the night tonight?" I blurted out, unable to stop myself.

"But it's a school night," Austin pointed out, and I rolled my eyes.

"Who cares? My parents aren't gonna be home until Thursday, and my brother and sister aren't home until Wednesday," I said. Austin seemed to think about it for a second before nodding.

"Alright. I'll stay the night," he said, and I grinned.

"Well, what d'you wanna do? I have video games, movies, Netflix, music..." I trailed off.

"You're acting like I've never been here before. Let's play some video games," Austin said, and he got up to set up the Xbox and his game of choice.

"What are we playing?" I asked him. He stood up and handed me a controller before sitting back down next to me.

"Call Of Duty III," he told me, and the game started up.

We spent a good three hours playing Xbox, getting angry and laughing, having an amazing time altogether.

"Holy shit, it's already eight," I yawned. Austin turned off the Xbox and the television, and he took my controller from me and set it on the floor.

"You tired?" He asked softly, and I nodded. I smiled up at him and stood up, stretching.

"I'm gonna go get a blanket. I'll be right back," I said with a smile, and Austin nodded as he slipped his shoes off. I jogged down the hall and into my room, grabbing my favorite blanket and the softest pillow I owned off my bed. I returned to the living room, finding it empty. I raised my eyebrows as I set the pillow and the blanket on the couch.

"Austin?" I asked. I felt something poke my sides, and I shrieked, turning around and coming face to face with Austin who was trying to control his laughter. I slapped his arm playfully, acting like I was angry at him as I arranged the pillow on the couch. I moved the blanket and sat down, looking at a giggling Austin.

"I guess you're sleeping on the floor," I said with a smirk. He immediately stopped laughing.

"No!" He said frantically, walking quickly over to me. I bit my lip to hide my smile, and he stood right in front of me.

"Lie down," he said, and I did as told. He then laid down next to me, pulling me against his chest. He pulled the blanket over us, reached up and turned the lamp off, and he wrapped an arm around my waist. My heart rate sped up as we laid there in silence for several minutes.

"You're amazing, you know?" Austin whispered. I bit my lip and could feel the blush rise to my cheeks. I turned around to face him, kicking the blanket off in the process, and I buried my face in his chest. Austin placed a hand on my hip underneath my shirt, and he rubbed the skin, giving me goosebumps.

"Wake the fuck up!" I jerked awake, successfully hitting Austin in the face, causing him to fall off the couch and onto the floor. I sat up quickly, eyeing Austin who was rubbing his face.

"Sorry Austin!" I said loudly, then I looked over at the person who'd awoken us.

"You weren't supposed to be home until Wednesday you fucks," I said as I frantically covered myself up with the unused blanket.

"Well, I texted you, but apparently you were too busy to check your phone," my sister, Elizabeth, said.

"My phone was in my room all day yesterday. And we were playing video games. Nothing else," I said as Austin sat down next to me.

"Sure. Anyway, the trip was great, thanks for asking," Anthony, my brother said. I met Austin's eyes, and I looked back to my siblings.

"Yeah. Can you guys just go away?" I asked, and they both held up their hands in surrender before heading to their rooms.

"Sorry about that," I said softly. Austin grinned a boyish grin, and he moved my bangs out of my face.

"It's alright. I've known them long enough to know that they like to give you shit about things. That's what older siblings are supposed to do," Austin said, and I looked down at my lap.

"We slept in late, so I guess no school for us today," I said, and Austin pulled me up off the couch.

"That's alright. And thanks for the amazing night last night. I'll see you either later or tomorrow, alright?" Austin asked. I nodded, and he slipped his shoes on. He pulled me into a hug, and I stood on my tiptoes so I could wrap my arms around his neck. He kissed my cheek, and he left me standing there in my t-shirt and underwear. When he was gone, Elizabeth and Anthony exited their rooms.

"You so have a crush on him," Elizabeth said, and I looked at her.

"If that's not the most obvious thing in the world, I don't know what is," Anthony said.

"Then why doesn't he notice it?" I asked. Elizabeth sighed and ran a hand through her hair.

"Because he likes you too. He's too worried about getting you to notice him that he doesn't see the blatantly obvious feelings you have for him. Same for you," she said. I'd never thought of it that way... maybe she was right.

"I have some thinking to do... and a shower to take," I said.

@bonesexposed
Glad you like it! I'll be updating tomorrow hopefully. I'm working with two other stories right now, so when I update, I usually don't have enough battery to update two at a time. Except yesterday because chapter eight was short. :)
