The First Punch

I shot awake at the sound of my phone ringing and quickly turned my head and squinted at the bright screen in the dark. It was Adrien and groaned.
“Hello?” I asked sleepily laying back down on the bed.
“Uh… Can you pick us up?” Adrien asked, talking to someone in the background.
“Huh?” I asked groaning at the bedside clock which read 4:50. “Get an Uber.. I’m not getting up now..” I said defiantly hanging up. I drifted back into an altered state of consciousness. I was what felt like quickly awoken to see Adrien and Shep at my bedside.
“Morning sugar tits.” Adrien said happily as he kissed my forehead.
“What time is it?” I moaned inaudibly, pulling the covers over my head.
“It’s like 11.. You wanna do something?” Adrien asked cheerfully as Shep walked into the living room to wait for Mel.
“Yeah.” I said. “Sleep..” I groaned and fought with Adrien to keep the cover in my hands. He tugged quickly and pulled the cover right out of my hands and they landed on the floor. “Fuuuuuuccckk.” I brought my hands to my face and Ghost meowed.
“You up?” Adrien asked sassily.
“Yes.” I said petting Ghost. I slowly rolled out of bed and Adrien left to let me get dressed. I got out of bed and looked at my phone quick. I had a missed call from Cassandra and a few texts from Adrien. I hit call to Cassandra and put the phone to my ear. It rang a few times but she picked up.
“Hello?” She said on the other end.
“Hi! It’s Alex, you called?”
“Oh yes!! Good news! The apartment is yours, bought for their price. And It was checked out before they put it on the market. Perfect condition, everything is sound. When would you like to pick up the keys and sign more papers?!” She sounded so happy for me but I thought there was some weird catch, but that’s just me.
“Uhm as soon as possible I guess..” I said rubbing my eyes.
“Well I’m available in about 20 minutes.”
“Okay.” She told me where the office was and it was literally right down the road. I threw on a burned AC/DC shirt and some floral shorts, along with my docs and a bandana headband. I quickly rushed out of the room and Ghost followed.
“Where you going?” Mel asked walking in front of me. ‘Huh huh huh huh??” She was messing with me and wouldn’t let me get past her. I shifted to the kitchen and grabbed an apple.
“The place is mine!!” I said happily and everyone looked delighted.
“I’m so happy for you Al!” Mel came over and hugged me. “This is gonna be your first time living alone… like ever.. Lian would be so proud of you.” She nudged into my neck and hugged me tighter.
“You got a new place of your own??” Shep asked looking happy.
“Yeah! It’s amazing. I can’t wait for you guys to see it!!” I giggled and looked at my phone. “I gotta go get the keys!” I picked up my car keys from the counter and headed for the door.
“Wait let me come with you!!" Mel squealed and quickly slipped on her shoes. I giggled and she ran over to me. “Let’s go my lover!” I couldn’t help but laugh at her.
“If she’s going we want to go!!” Shep said.
“Might as well bring Ghost too!” I laughed not being serious, but Adrien picked him up and pushed past me out of the apartment. I looked to Mel and laughed. We followed Adrien out of the door and Mel locked up behind us. We got down to my car and everyone piled in, they were all fidgety but they got used to it. Soon enough we were there and I saw Cassandra typing on her computer through the window. I pulled the key out of the ignition and we all fled out of the car. As we headed over to the small building I was shaking from nervousness, even though I knew it would be okay. As we opened the door a small bell rang and all of the realtors turned their heads to see who it was. Once they saw us they got back to work and didn’t look twice. Cassandra saw us and she waved us over. We all followed and her eyes opened wide.
“Wow.. You uh have a lot more people now. Oh and a cat…” She laughed nervously. You could tell she was new to this job but she did a very good job for what I’m assuming was her first deal. “Okay so Alex could you please take a seat to review the paper work and sign it the we will be all set.” I smiled and proceeded to do as she told. About 30 minutes later I was being handed the keys to my first apartment on my own. “Oh and just a slight thing happened. A man named Will Cavella came in earlier and asked me to show him the apartment. I told him it was sold but I still showed him it. I hope you don’t mind.” I looked at her weirdly. “Alex please don’t be mad at me..” She pleaded.
“Nah it’s okay.. He’s my older brother..” I laughed and headed for the door. Cass waved from her window as we got into the car and headed for my place.
“Do you think Will did something?” Mel asked looking to me.
“Maybe but what’s the worst he could’ve done?” I countered. Soon after we left we arrived to the building. Mel and Adrien’s buildings were more modern and bigger but they knew this place fit my personality just right.
“Very… Brick..” Adrien said semi weary.
“Ah, but it’s so pretty in my apartment! I just need to get furniture.” We all got out of the car and Adrien was still holding Ghost. As we made our way inside Mel, Shep, and Adrien were looking for the elevator and were sadly informed that we had to walk up 5 floors. The stairs weren’t as bad as they thought and I led them to my red door.
“Red!!” Mel squealed as she saw my door painted in her favorite color. I got my keys ready and turned the lock. Pushing the door open, I saw that my whole place had been furnished. From my bed right down to the pots and glasses in the cupboard. I was stunned by the utter beauty of this apartment. You could still see the bare bones but it was furnished just enough to make it more modern and less firehouse. As I walked into the open concept kitchen I noticed a note on the counter. It read:
[…} Hey there little sis! Mel had told me how you were moving in on your own. Why didn’t you tell me?! And just because you didn’t tell me, I have furnished your apartment with everything you love and all the brands you love. Just because I know how much you hate me paying for your stuff. I love you and will see you soon!! Take care and have fun ;) -Will ♡

“I thought I would tell him since you have so much going on right now. So this morning we snuck all this in and decorated!!” Mel explained and Adrien and Shep nodded.
“You were all in on it?!” I asked smiling at them. They all nodded and we had a group hug.
“Go look at the bedroom and bathroom upstairs!” Adrien said proudly, pointing up the stairs. I kissed his cheek and ran up the spiral staircase. I saw the bed I had been wanting forever from Restoration Hardware. My closet door’s windows were frosted and I could see clothes inside. All of my stuff was over at Mel’s so how could it be here?!
“All my clothes are at your house though Mel..” I said turning to her.
“Well..” She said as I opened the door. I saw that some of my clothes were in there and I looked at her suspiciously.
“I thought all of my stuff was at your house…” I asked her and she laughed.
“I assume you didn’t notice all the bags missing and only your suitcase being there..” She said slyly. I playfully punched her in the arm and we were laughing.
“Look at the bathroom!! This was my job!” Adrien explained. I walked over and pushed open the door. Even though no colors were changed it felt more welcoming. I looked at the floor to ceiling cabinet next to the mirror because there was a sticky note on it’s door.

I opened the door and I saw tons of new products from both Adrien’s line of vegan and cruelty free makeup and some of my other favorite companies. I didn’t have all of this new stuff and some of it wasn’t even released yet but Adrien got new stuff cause well, he’s him.
“Thank you so much!!” I scurried over to him and hugged him. This place was perfect and I couldn’t wait to sleep here tonight.. I hugged the rest of them and we headed back to Mel’s place to get my other stuff and put it in my new place.
I was finally starting to feel a little calmness amidst the drama that had been going on. After a long day I was finally alone at home cuddling on the couch with Ghost watching TV. My phone started to go crazy and I saw it was Ahren. I picked it up and said hello.
"Yeah hi... Yesterday 3:00. Does it ring any bells??" He said anxiously. I then remembered that we were supposed to get something to drink...
"Ahren I'm so sorry..." I said holding my head
"Yeah..." He sounded done with my shit.
"I've been really busy with moving into my new place and I'm sorry." I said as Ghost nudged under the blanket on he couch.
"You got your new place? Already?" He asked. I started to notice a loud sound in the background.
"Yeah. What's going on?" I asked.
"At a gig. I gotta go now though.. I'll talk to you some other time." With that he hung up and I flipped back down onto the couch from my upright position.
I'm done with relationships for a while... I just need a fucking break... I started to doze off and the sound of my TV became more and more distant and fuzzy.
