The Bet

I can't believe what is happening to me. Yesterday I was just the loser who got beaten up and now I was hanging out with Austin Carlile. A guy like him don't hang out with someone like me.
Justin never liked him though, I never knew why... When I told him I want to Austin's house he was beyond pissed. Why can't he be happy for me ?
I was pulled out of my thoughts by Austin's sweet voice "Alan, what's bugging you ?"
"Um nothing"
"Don't lie to me, you've been staring at your hands for ten minutes. Come on, tell me" he said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders
"It's just" I sighed "Justin. He doesn't like you that much and he told me not to hang out around you and stuff"
Austin seemed a little hurt by my confession "Why that ?"
I shrugged " I don't know... Let's forget about him, okay ?"
We spend the rest of the afternoon watching movies, talking about random things.
"Do you need a ride home ?
"Um, if you don't mind "

I was lying in my bed, doing nothing but staring at my plain ceiling when I heard a loud knock on my front door. I flinched at the sound. What if it's Oliver again... I went downstairs and stood in front of the door. Should I open it or not. I took a deep breath and opened the door.

"You scared the shit out of me, I thought it was Oliver..."
"Look, Alan I'm... um, I'm sorry for earlier. Can we just forget about it ? I brought your favorite movie. "
"Get in loser" I said laughing.

We were curled up on my couch , watching 500 days of summer when Justin thought it would be great to talk. I swear to god I'm gonna kill him

"Alan ?"
"Justin shut up, it's the best part, shh"

He paused the movie and looked back at me

"Alan please, listen"
"Ok, what ?"
"Just be careful ok ? With Austin... I don't trust him and shouldn't either."
"Justin... You don't know him, he's nice. You're acting weird.."
"I'm a little bit over-protective I guess" he ran his hand through his hair. He only does that when he's nervous
"I'll be careful, ok ? Don't worry"

He hugged me and kissed the top of my head. I'm glad we're not mad at each others anymore
