Fast times at Clairemont High

Even though Oregon is right above California it is still a long drive, because San Diego is so close to the mexican border. It's suppose to be a 12 hour trip but every five minutes Kellin has to pee or Kellin has to stretch or Kellin this Kellin that. I love my brother but seriously? We left around 6 o'clock this morning and we still have a couple hours to go.

We pulled up to the new house at around 8:30 pm and that's when it finally hit me, after all the years of fighting they finally separated, and now Me, Kellin and my mom are gone. I never thought it would actually happen, my mom always talked about leaving him and moving out of town but she never followed through... Until now. Kellin wanted to live with my mom and where Kellin goes I go, we're really close like that. Kellin has always hated our dad, ever since the first time he ever hit my mom.

We could never do anything about the fighting, because they would fight we would hit her she would leave, he'd apologize and make up a stupid excuse and she'd forgive him but not this time. I guess that what happens when you end up in the hospital.

"Why don't you kids go and pick out your rooms and I'll start bringing stuff in?" My mom said getting out of the car.

I unfastened my seat belt and got out of the car with Kellin not far behind me. I grabbed the key from my mom and walked inside.

It was a cute little house, it had three rooms upstairs a large empty basement that had a bathroom with a stand up shower and a decent sized kitchen. The living room was kind of small but that was fine, and the bathroom upstairs had two doors one connecting to a bed room and another one connected to the hall.

I went into the room connected to the bathroom, I'm guessing this is the master bedroom. Then I went into the room across from the bathroom, Kellin was leaning against the window starring outside. I crept up beside him and looked out of the window to try to find what he was looking at but I couldn't find anything.

"So what do you think?" I aked

"What?" Kellin asked snapping out of his train of thought, he look at he as if he didn't even realize I was standing right next to him.

"I asked what you think of this place?"

"Oh it's nice I guess.." He sounded unsure of his own words "I like it"

"Yeah it's alright I guess" I said walking out of the bedroom and going to the last empty room, It had a large bay window. I sat on the cushions of the window and saw it had a lattice right next to it. Might as well be a ladder, I thought to myself.

"I call this room!" I yelled "Okay come get your stuff then!" My mom yelled from downstairs

Me and Kellin went downstairs and started to bring up our boxes. I pilled all of mine into my closet so that I could bring my bed up. "Kellin!" I yelled

"Yeah?" He said popping his head into my room. "Would you be able to help me bring my bed up?" I asked. He nodded in response.

After bringing both of our beds out of the moving truck up the stairs and into our rooms I went down stairs to help mom with the couches.

After 3 more hours of unpacking I asked mom what to do with the basement and she said "Oh just leave it empty I'm going to rent it out." I looked at her with a puzzled look on my face she didn't tell me that. "To who?" I asked "Some boy who goes to the high school" she replied.

When Kellin came downstairs she said "You guys should go to bed, remember you have your first day of school tomorrow. I won't be here when you guys wake up because I have to bring the truck back to Oregon and pick up my car."

"Okay goodnight mom." Me and Kellin both said then headed back upstairs.
