Leaving the cave, going into the unknown

Chapter 7

Finally Sunday had arrived and it felt like a weight had lifted off of my shoulders. It was nice to know that soon I wouldn’t have to text Alan to talk to him. The best part was that he told me last night that they had taken a month off due to one of the band members getting married and they wanted time for their honeymoon after, plus he said they really needed a break. I wasn’t fighting it, I was happy that I’d get to hang out with him more now without the distance.

Being as it was the weekend I didn’t have to get up early and go to work, I used to get up at 7:30 by myself but since I’ve been talking to Alan I’ve been going to bed later so my schedule was slightly off, with my body deciding that today it was going to get up at 12 in the afternoon. I woke up to the smell of pancakes, which was weird because Kate was at Tom’s for the night and she knew I didn’t eat pancakes because they made me sick. I got up and in a still sleepy haze I grabbed a magazine that I had been reading the night before, rolled it up and crept into the kitchen with only a large t-shirt on as that’s what I usually slept in. At this point what I was wearing was the least of my worries if someone was breaking into our home.

I walked into our kitchen in high alert only to find Alan making pancakes and preparing a breakfast on a bed cart.

“Aww you were going to make me breakfast in bed?” I said as I lowered my magazine and startled Alan causing him to drop the spatula on the floor and turn around to greet me.

When he saw me he smiled and ran to hug me, he lifted me up and twirled me around then set me back down and looked at me head to toe with a smirk on his face.

“I did but now I’m glad I didn’t make it that far, wouldn’t have gotten a full head to toe view of your bedtime wear. Great legs by the way.” He said with a wink as I looked down at what I was wearing, blushed, than ran back into my room as quick as possible.

I put some shorts on and went back downstairs, where Alan had put the pancakes from the tray to the table.

“Sorry about that I thought you were an intruder or something.” I said while sitting down.

“An intruder who makes pancakes?” he said with a confused smirk on this face and a slight chuckle.
“He could’ve been really nice. Are these pancakes for me?

“Ya I thought I’d make you breakfast. I told Kate about wanting to make you breakfast and she left me a key under the front mat. I really got back last night, I’ve been planning to surprise you this whole week.” He said with great pride in his eye, he looked like a cute little boy who had just gotten an A on his test.

“Ummm Alan I really appreciate all of this but, I can’t eat pancakes. They make me really sick. When I was in high school they were my hangover food and now whenever I eat them they make me want to puke. I’m so sorry I could try and eat them I haven’t in a while maybe it’s changed…”

“No don’t eat them I wouldn’t want you to get sick. Ahh I’m so stupid I should have asked Kate if you even ate pancakes I even made sure to use the Lactose Free milk and everything cause Kate told me you were Lactose Intolerant and I got strawberry’s and put them in the pancakes cause Kate said they were your favorite fruit. At least I made your tea the way you like it Kate gave me very specific instructions and I followed them to a tea, ha get it to a tea.” He said awkwardly.

Great way to start the morning Alex, this nice boy comes to your house does everything he can to make you an amazing breakfast and you fuck it all up.

“I’m sorry Alan.” I say as I take the tea, a small tear rolls down my cheek. I know Alan didn’t mean to make me feel bad but I wasn’t used to guys doing this stuff for me. All the boyfriends I had would disregard my picky eating and would convince me to eat the stuff I was either allergic to or didn’t want to eat. I’m allergic to Avocado’s and I had one boyfriend convince me it was all in my head and forced me to eat some guacamole. Let’s just say it was a long night in the emergency room and he broke up with me, of coarse after our last round of sex that was always only good for him, the next day.

I got up and walked out of the room I didn’t want Alan to see me like this, sad and thinking of old memories so I just went up to my room. Before I could close the door a foot jammed it’s way into it and I looked up to see a remorseful Alan at my door.

“Hey don’t cry it’s not that big of a deal really I can make something else really totally my fault. I should of gotten Kate to give me a full list of the stuff you can’t or won’t eat I’m sorry don’t cry.” He took me into a hug. I missed him; we may only of known each other a week but his hugs would already calm me down. I’m not an open person and I think Alan knew that or Kate told him because he would treat me like he was walking on glass at times or would take advantage of my comfort by allowing me to tell him as much as possible.

“It’s not you or the pancakes I’m just not used to guys being this nice to me. You talked to Kate for god sakes. I’m so stupid I’m crying over pancakes for fuck sakes.” I say while chucking, the whole thing seemed ridiculous really. Eventually Alan started to laugh with me.

“Well that’s ridiculous cause a pretty girl like you should have breakfast in bed everyday and should be swept off her feet with romance. Now let’s go back into the kitchen and then we’ll curl up and watch movies and talk for the rest of the day. Hell let’s make a blanket fort so we don’t have to deal with stupid people all day, ok?” I nodded and hugged him again. Once I detached myself from him I took his hand and lead him back to the kitchen where I made my English muffin with peanut butter that I had every morning and explained this to Alan and he made a note in this iPhone.

“Here” he said handing me his phone “write down all your allergies and things you won’t eat so I can remember late.”

I took his phone and wrote:

Allergic
- Avocados
- Milk

Won’t eat
- Fish
- Pork
- Pancakes

“That’s it I think.” I handed him back his phone and he looked over it.

“NO FISH” He looked at me like I was crazy. “That means no sushi, that’s my favorite.”

“That doesn’t mean you can’t have it. I had a goldfish once and I could never eat something I once had as a pet.” It sounded stupid but I really did love fish and I would never turn my back on Goldey.

“Alright fine whatever you weird-o, now come on to the fort away from the stupid people in our lives!.” He yelled while running into the living room, leaving me to just stand there and laugh at him. I followed him into the living room, which he was tearing apart looking for blankets, and watched as he built a fort around the TV which was already turned on to A Nightmare Before Christmas.

“I thought we could watch Tim Burton movies?” He said with a hopeful look in his eyes, I guess he was hoping that he finally did something right this morning despite his best efforts.

“I love Tim Burton, it’s so strange Alan it’s like you know my favorite movie without me telling you.” I said sarcastically.

“I may or may not have talked to Kate…” He said with his eyes down twisting his foot back and forth.

“I know she told me.” I said while climbing into the fort and sitting on some pillows under it.

“She told you!! I swore her to secrecy!”

“Silly, girls tell each other everything.” I said while ruffling his hair he just looked at me sighed and laid down next to where I was sitting.

“Wait I need to take a photo of us for Instagram!” He stated. Since I had created my Instaram account I had taken a few pictures, most of them Alan had commented meaning more questions from fans and more followers. I was now up too 3,000 and it was kind of strange to have people that I didn’t know ‘follow’ me but it is what it is. We snapped a photo of us smiling with our heads together me holding a pillow to my face as I just woke up and probably wasn’t looking on point and photo ready.

After he posted it my phone went off saying I was tagged in a photo, I looked at my screen and read the caption:

@AlanAshby: @AlexCase and I made a pillow fort together! So glad to be home with this cutie to watch Tim Burton movies all day! <3 ;P #shewokeuplikethis #cutegirl #luckyguy

I liked it and smiled at him, I had to admit we looked pretty cute in this photo even with me looking like I just woke up.

I pushed play on the TV then decided to lye down next to him. As the first song was starting Alan looked at me strangely.

“What?” I questioned.

“Why are you all the way over there come to me!!!” He said while holding out his arms like a small child. I just laughed and cuddled into his chest taking in his smell, oh how I missed that smell. We sat there all morning watching Tim Burton movies and talking about his tour and how my designs were going and it was one of the best mornings I’ve had in my whole life.

Notes
