Leaving the cave, going into the unknown

Chapter 53

The next couple of days Alan had to stay in the hospital so the doctors could look him over before he went home. Finally after 4 days of waiting around it was time to go, Austin agreed to help make sure he got settled all right.

After I ‘woke up’ Austin apologized but like I suspected he didn’t really seem sincere about it. I had decided to pretend like it was sincere and that everything was fine, I didn’t have the energy right now to imagine it was something else or worry about it. If Austin did have a problem with me I’m sure that some day he’ll blow up and we’ll sort it out.

Getting Alan home was easier said than done, he was extremely stubborn and wouldn’t sit down in the wheel chair when leaving.

“Alan you have to sit its hospital policy.” I begged him, he’s been pulling the pouting act for about 15 minutes now insisting he was fine and could walk out.

“I don’t care I’m fine.” He crossed his arms, his sign for I’m not budging from this argument.

“How about this, if you get in the wheel chair and I push, you get to hold Dee. If you don’t get in the wheel chair I get to hold Dee for the rest of the day.” He seemed to be really struggling with his decision but in the end I knew what he would choose.

“Wheel chair.” He sighed in defeat knowing that this was the one thing that I could use as leverage to get him to do something he didn’t want too. I smiled and gestured to the chair behind me, he got in as quickly as he could before making grabby hands towards Dee who was in my arms. The second she saw Alan’s movement she started to copy, they were like two peas in a pod all the time. If Alan did a gesture she would copy it then they would giggle together. I handed Dee over and she started playing with his hair fascinated by it, I started to push him along.

“Miss Case you got him to sit in the chair! Are you a miracle worker or something?” One of Alan’s nurses came up and asked, she had tried to tell him earlier that he had to use the chair but was extremely against it.

“I used the power of the baby, works every time. Thank you so much for your help.” I waved off goodbye to her and met Austin at the car, I took Dee from Alan while Austin helped him get in the car and put her in the car seat next to him. I hopped in the front with Austin but heard Alan talking to Dee.

“You know I’m still pissed at you.” Austin whispered, hoping Alan wouldn’t hear.

“I figured. I think you shouldn’t put on a false act about it, and I’m sorry if I sound like a bitch but you need to get over it because I’m marrying him whether you like it or not.” I was now whisper shouting but he made me frustrated. How could someone go from loving and supporting your relationship to hating it the next second? His hands gripped the steering wheel tighter turning his knuckles white.

“You think you’re so god damn clever but I know what’s going on and if you don’t tell him soon I will.” Austin barked out as quite as he could, his voice was filled with so much rage and disgust.

“What are you talking about? Tell him what, there’s nothing to tell?” I asked, I really couldn’t think of anything life altering to tell Alan there just hasn’t been the time for anything major to happen in our lives.

“You fucking little whore I know what you did and if you keep pulling this I don’t know what you’re talking about bullshit any longer I’ll tell him.” I really didn’t know what he was talking about nothing I’ve done ever in my life could have amounted to the words he was using on me right now.

“Austin I really don’t know what you’re talking about. Can we talk more after Alan goes to bed?” We hit a red light and he looked over at me, eyes filled with rage. They softened when he saw my scared expression, look of confusion and concern. He nodded at me and continued driving, the weight of the conversation pulling down the car and a clueless Alan in the back seat.

After we arrived home Alan was tired and so was Dee, they always tire each other out. They both went to bed, while I tucked them in Austin was waiting for me downstairs. When I returned to the living room he was pacing back and forth rubbing his hands together thinking.

“So are you going to tell me what I did now?” I asked I must have startled him a bit because at the sound of my voice he jumped a bit.

“You cheated, don’t act like you didn’t because I saw the photos and I talked to the guy who did it. He contacted me a week ago and sent me the photos saying that you slept with him while we where on tour before Melody was even a thought.” I fell back into the couch trying to absorb everything I just heard.

“Photo’s? Where show me.” I looked up at him. He opened his phone and dug through his photos until he found what he was looking for and showed me. There on Austin’s screen was a photo of me naked and on top of my ex Greg, if you could even call him that. I dated Greg a year ago, he was emotionally abusive and Kate had to break up with him for me because I didn’t have the strength too.

“Don’t tell me that’s not you because that girl has the same tattoos as you and hair cut. I can’t believe you would do this to him. Is Dee even his?” My head shot up at that remark.

“How fucking dare you even think that thought. I want you too look at this photo again, look at my left arm see something missing?” After Greg and I broke up I got a tree going up my arm to represent the growth I was now experiencing as a person that was coming out of that bad situation.

“The tree.” He whispered, sounding ashamed of his accusation. He fell on the couch beside me in defeat, I’m sure this was pretty awkward for him.

“I really thought, I can’t believe I thought that. I didn’t even look for signs like that I just saw the photo then rage.” He whispered.

“It’s okay I probably would have thought the same thing if roles were reversed with you and Val. Greg was emotionally abusive towards me, always putting me down. It’s the reason I was such a shut in before I met Alan, Kate made me leave him and I thank her every day for that.” I felt an arm around that wasn’t Austin’s when I looked beside me it was Alan.

“What are you doing up?” I asked moving over to make room for him on the couch.

“I heard you guys talking pretty loud so I put Dee in her crib then listened on the stairs. I want to see this photo.” He said looking me in the eyes; he’s never looked so serious since I’ve known him.

“I don’t want you too. I didn’t even know it was being taken, who knows what else he has of me.” I started to cry, now that I had cleared things up with Austin the fact that there were naked photos or videos of me floating around hit me.

“That’s why I need to see it, and a photo of this guy so I don’t kill the wrong person.” Alan grabbed the phone and opened the photo, his grip tightened so harshly I thought he was going to break it.

“Austin you still have his number?” Alan asked and Austin nodded, both looking like they where out for blood.
