Leaving the cave, going into the unknown

With the buzz of Christmas being over it was time for the boys to leave us once again, this time or 2 months.

“You know the next time we see each other I’m going to be huge.” I said while helping Alan pack the last of his bags.

“I don’t know you’re already pretty big as it is, I don’t think your body can expand much more.” I gasped and hit him jokingly while we started to laugh. I was now 7 months pregnant and Alan was going to make it back just in time for the baby to be born. Originally he was supposed to be home a month before the baby but with the mix up in Europe things had to get shifted around a bit. I was a little worried that he wouldn’t make it back in time but we had an in case of emergency plan for all the shows near the end of the pregnancy so that he could make it back as fast as possible.

“Just know that if you don’t make it back in time I’ve already gone out and bought one of those video camera’s so you can watch it later.” I said while my head was down, him not making it was a sore subject between us. When I found out that things were shifting I wasn’t mad I was more upset but Alan was extremely mad. He felt like no one cared that this was happening in his life; I had to explain to him that it’s not that they didn’t care things like this just happen some times.

“Please don’t talk like that, I don’t even want to think about that being a possibility. Just keep your legs crossed until I come back.” He shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal.

“You know that’s not how it works right? Do I need to get you one of those books? I think they make ones with really good pictures if you’re still confused.” He gave me one of those ‘I was joking and now you’re being ridiculous’ looks.

“I know that’s not how it works just try not to do anything to make her come early. Okay? I really want to be there.” He came and sat down next to me, I took his face in my hands.

“I will do everything in my power to make sure that she is either on time or a little late. I won’t do anything extensive or strenuous okay?” He nodded and kissed me before getting back to packing. The last time we talked to the doctor he said now we were out danger for a miscarriage but if there was too much stress then she could come early. It was still unsafe and I was still on bed rest but if she came early then she would most likely have some kind of complication later on. I saw how much it hurt him and I had already talked to Austin about sending him home a little bit before tour, well Austin talked I just listened. He suggested that he come home early but I said that if everything works out like it supposed to then we shouldn’t have to worry. Even after saying all that I still felt like it wasn’t all going to work out, I had a bad feeling like she was going to come early but I was trying to shake it.

When he finished we went back downstairs to take out and movies, our traditional goodbye meal. The last two months were going to be tough but then I would have him for 7 months.



“Alex, don’t get up but I’m leaving okay? Kiss me goodbye.” I woke up to Alan rubbing my shoulder, I gave him a kiss and he gave one to my tummy.

“Bye Dee, don’t come out of there until I’m back okay? I know it’s a lot to ask of a baby that isn’t even born yet but do daddy a favor and stay in there for a little bit more.” I smiled and fell right back to sleep. When I woke up it hit me that he was really gone, I looked over at his side of the bed and grabbed his pillow pulling it into my face to get his sent off of it.

“Hey girly! Last time we’ll be roomies for a bit!” I looked over at the door to see Val with a huge smile on her face. She moved in again due to the fact that I would need her more than ever, these last two months would be tricky and I needed an extra hand.

“Yup. I’m sorry I won’t be a very fun roomie, just a lot of sitting around for the next 2 months.” She came and sat beside me.

“You’re always fun don’t worry about it, our fun will just be a little more tame. I’m warning you though, when this little girl pops out are going out for a girls night. Were gonna party it up!”

“Whatever you say Val. So are you all moved in?” I rolled over and started my walk downstairs Val on my tail the whole time making sure I didn’t fall over.

“Yup, I came just as Alan was leaving because Austin was picking him up. I also made you some breakfast just your usual, thought it would be nice for you to wake up too.” And just as she said there sitting waiting for me was a cup of tea and an English muffin.

“Thanks Val, I missed you.” I turned around and hugged her, to the best of my abilities, before going to sit and eat my breakfast.

These next 2 months were going to be awful but I’d have my whole child’s life to get back at her for it.
