For What It's Worth..

I woke up to a dull beeping noise. Groaning loudly, I turned over towards the nightstand where the hotel phone was. I leaned over and my arm caught on to my headphones, and pulled at my ear.

“Damn it!” I yelled. Nearly ripping my headphones in half, all the while the beeping noise from the phone continued. Cursing the damn thing, I picked it up and practically yelled, “What?!” . Only to find out it was just the wake up call I asked the front desk to give me, because there was no one on the other end.

Slamming the phone down, I looked at the clock. 10:00 AM in big bold red numbers. Sighing I got up to use the bathroom, brushed my teeth. Went around my room checking to make sure I had everything together. Checking out, and grabbing some cold water to drink I went to pack up Baby.



Getting in my car, I set up my phone to answer calls by voice command. I was still a little worried about driving like this, but I haven’t crashed yet. I turned the key and she rumbled to life. I sighed happily. “I’ll never get tired of hearing that.” Putting her into gear and I was off to Scranton. It was half way down the main road towards that I noticed the amount of people on the street, when I got a red light I looked over and saw women and men a like going crazy. Some were holding signs with what I think said “We love..” something or other, I was too far away to read it. I looked up at the light, it changed to green. Stepping on the gas I was on my way out of the city and on my way to Pennsylvania.

I spent about an hour and forty minutes driving. I was really enjoying the scenery they had here, reminded me of living out in the country. I rolled down my window and let my arm lean out, driving with just one hand.

“Incoming call from Elizabeth.” An automated voice sounded from my phone. “Say Yes to answer or No to ignore.”

“Yes.” I said loudly. “Hey Mia, what's up?”

I heard her yawn obnoxiously. “Not much, where you at? I can hear your car.” “I’m on my way to Scranton.” I took the next exit onto the highway.

“It’s really nice out here.” I looked behind me to see if anything was in my lane to cross over. Nothing. “What’s up with you?”

“Nothing much, playing some Dark Souls.”
“Is Tom working?” I pushed the gas pedal until I was up to a hundred for the highway speed.

“Yeah. Hey Mikey, can you pass me my drink?” I heard a faint “Fine.” with attitude. “Is your brother there?” I asked.

“Yeah, I’m here, you’re on speakerphone Jen.” Mikey got closer to the phone. “Yeah, you guys are too, what’s up Mike?” “Not to much, getting ready to go to work.”

“Oh alright, don’t let me keep you then.” I laughed. “Hey Jenny, can you hold on, my mom’s calling.” “Yeah, sure I’ll be here.”

“Alright, bye.”

“Bye for now.”

I looked around the highway, noticing I was behind a transfer truck. I flicked on my signal light and pulled into the lane beside me. Grinning to myself, I pushed the gas and she happily obliged speeding ahead of the truck. I glanced over and saw what looked like an RV. I better pass this too. I thought. Easily pulled a good fifteen feet in front of them, and signaled my way back to that same lane.

I looked at my phone, Elizabeth still hasn't gotten off the phone with her mum. I took a peek at my rear view mirror. I felt my eyes widen before I registered what I thought I was seeing. My phone beeped.

“Hey again.” I snapped my eyes back to the road. “Hey uh, welcome back.” My heart started to tremble against my chest.

“What’s wrong? You sound funny.” I tried to suck my lips into my mouth, unsuccessful, now I look like a reverse fish.

“Uhm..” I clicked my tongue. “I think Motionless In White are behind me.” Daring another peek in the mirror. Eyes front! I yelled at myself.

“Who?” she sounded lost. I let out a disapproving sigh. “You know that guy I showed you from the band I made you listen too? The one that you said was creepy even though, he isn't.” I huffed.

“Oh.” I could practically hear the gears turning in her head when she registered the information I just gave her. “Oooooh.” She started laughing at me.

Slapping myself, knowing full well this was going to happen. “Thank you Elizabeth Mia Brown, thank you very much for your support and helpfulness. I don’t know how I could have dealt with this without you.” My voice thick with sarcasm.

I saw a big stop exit ahead, I sped up and turned off the highway, then turned left down the road and took a right right into the parking lot. I found a space right near the end of building. I backed into it and turned off my car. I fell back against my leather seat, letting out a deep breath. I could still hear Elizabeth laughing her ass off.

“Are you done yet?” I asked; irritated. She laughed even harder. “No, ha, I just wish I could see the look on your face right now.” I heard a crash and knew she had fallen off of whatever she was sitting on, and took her phone with her.

“Your a dumbass, Mia.” But I couldn't help but laugh. What did I need to freak out about, they don’t even know me. And it’s not like I’ll ever see them again. Well, whenever I can see one of their concerts.

“I’m sorry. You don’t need to freak out about them. They are human, you know.” She has regained her ability to talk. I laughed at her. “I know, I’m just a big fan, you would have done the same if it was one of your favorite bands, or actors.”

She paused, “Yeah, your probably right.” I sighed. “I’m going to put my headphones in, so we can keep talking, I’m at a big stop right now, I’m gonna grab something to eat.”

“Alright.” I opened my dash and dug out my headphones for my phone. Putting one ear bud in, I asked if she could hear me. “Yep, you’re good.” Got out of the car, but not without grabbing my skull shaped wallet.

“I’m changing over to Minecraft now, when are you going to able to play online?”

The cashier at the front said “Hello.” and I smiled and nodded in return. “I don’t know, it depends when I find a place that I’ll stay long enough to get one.” I told Mia.

“Ah.” I walked around the store looking for something to eat and drink. I paused at the Deli and grabbed a chicken ceasar wrap. Then grabbed a chocolate milk in the cooler.

“What are you getting?” Elizabeth asked. “Chocolate milk and chicken ceasar wrap.” I put the items on the counter, the cashier smiled at me. “Did you find everything okay?”

“Yes, thank you.” She quickly scanned the items. “Your total is $6.45.” I pulled out a 10 out of my wallet and handed it to her.

“So did you figure out what you forgot last night?” Elizabeth asked.

“Would you like a bag?” “Yes” I answered the cashier. “Yes, actually right before I went to bed. Now that I think about it.”

The girl passed me my bag and my change. “Thank you, have a good day.” “You too.” I walked back to my car and settled in, putting my phone back where I had it and back on speakerphone.

“Holy shit.” I sat back like there was a sudden weight on me.

“What is it?” “The thing I forgot about is that Chris Cerulli lives or lived in Scranton.”

I heard Elizabeth suck in a harsh breath. “Holy fuck, really?”

“Yep.” I clicked my tongue. “Huh. Oh well.”

“Anyways, I got to go get ready for work in an hour. I’ll text you later, alright?”

“Sure thing, talk to you later.”

“I love chu.”

“I love chu too. Bye Mia.” I smiled. “Bye.” I clicked the end call on my phone. I took my wrap out of the bag,and ripped the wrapper off. I took a bite of it, enjoying the taste of the first actual food I had today. I heard doors open and close on a vehicle, so I looked up and around to my left.

I nearly choked on my food. The whole crew of Motionless in White was getting out of their RV.

I put my hand over my mouth. Holy --
