The Letter

Chapter 14

~Ashley’s POV~

I got October’s and Raven’s number and left that fucking meeting. I can’t believe I wasn’t the only one. “Ricky fucking Olson.” I hissed into the phone.
“Ashley, baby. Hey! How are you?” He said back into the phone.
“Don’t fucking baby me Ricky! If I could tell you what I learned tonight. God I fucking hate you!” I shouted into the phone, trying very hard not to wreck.
“What is it honey? Come on, tell me.”
“Go to hell.”
I hung up and turned up the music, Bring Me the Horizon was playing on the CD Oli made me. It’s a mix of a ton of different bands. I turned it up as loud as it could go, letting the bands fill the air. I lit a cigarette that was in the pack Ricky had left in my car. I smoked three. The smoke filled my lungs, my dad smoked a lot too, so it was a familiar smell and feeling.
I didn’t want to go home, I just wanted to die, that’s what I wanted, death. I kind of wanted to meet up with October and Raven, but I wasn’t really sure if they wanted to do the same. I texted them both anyways and told them we should meet up at my house. The agreed and I gave them the address.
I was on my way home when I was passed by this black car with extremely dark tented windows, that was speeding insanely fast. I gulped and drove a little faster to get home. I got back home, I didn’t see the black car. Thank god it wasn’t who I thought it was. I got out of my car and made my way inside. Oli was sitting in the living room, looking nervous.
I gave him a confused look, he motioned me over, “You can’t stay here, leave now. I’ll tell you when to come back.” He whispered. I started running, when I got outside Raven and October had just gotten there. “GO! GET IN MY CAR! NOW!” I shouted at them.
Scared and nervous we all ran to my car. I scrambled in my purse, looking for my keys. I finally found them and started the engine, I quickly backed out of the driveway and onto the street. “What the fuck is going on?” Raven asked looking over at me.
“I think Ricky was in there.” I gulped. I gripped my hands on the steering wheel, trying to keep them from shaking.
“What?!” October shouted.
“I don’t know. I don’t know. Oli just told me to get out of the house, that’s all I know okay?”
I drove to the other side of New York City. The middleclass side. No one would suspect us here. We checked in, using cash, at a Hilton. We used different names. I used Scarlet, Raven used Jenna, and October used Alexandria.
I needed to call my aunt. I used the phone in our room, no answer. Shit! I tried again, nothing. I tried Oli, he didn’t answer either. I tried him again, nothing. I sighed and plopped down on the bed.
“What are we going to do?” They asked.
I shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t know, we couldn’t go into hiding. I grabbed my phone, I realized it was off, I hadn’t checked it since I called Ricky. I turned it on and it started buzzing like crazy. Message after message, call after call. “Who was it?” October asked. I looked down at all the messages, “My aunt, Oli, and Ricky, and… my dad?”
“Your dad?”
“I haven’t talked to him in weeks. Something is wrong.”
Instead of calling anyone back, I checked my bank account. I knew the amount I had in it, and my aunt once said, ‘Ashley, if you ever get some money in your account without me telling you, call the cops.’ I gained over 16 million dollars. Something was horribly wrong. I had to go back, I had to.
“I’m going back. Please, stay here, stay safe.”
At first they didn’t let me leave, I handed them each $1,000 in cash and told them to stay. Money talks. Why do I even have this much cash on me? One day I’m going to get robbed. I got into my car and took the outer road to the rich side of town, if I went into the big part of the city it would take too long.
I sped through the country roads, going 100, I was pulled over once, but then I told the cop the issue, he followed me home. When we got there, I noticed the black car from earlier was parked in the back of the house. I growled and got out of the car.
I told the cop to pass me a gun. He handed it to me and I unlocked and opened the door. Oli was still on the couch like he was before. I told the cop he was okay. As I walked up the stairs Oli kept telling me not to go. I gripped the gun tight.
“R-Ricky?” My voice cried out. “Ricky? Are you here?” He didn’t answer. Oli shouted for me to come back, I didn’t. I checked my room first. Under the bed, in the closet, in the bathroom. Nothing. I checked every room upstairs. Nothing. I walked back downstairs. Oli was there, but the cop had left. Well thanks asshole. I looked in each room downstairs, I couldn’t find anything. I looked over at Oli who was pointing down. The basement! I forgot about that.
I walked down the stairs that led to the basement. It was cold and damp. I heard faint screams and started running down the stairs. “Well, well, well. Look who we have here.”
