Where Do We Go From Here?

"You look cute."

Callie had a slight buzz by the time we reached back to my house. Thankfully, my parents had tucked themselves into bed a long time ago and didn’t witness Callie stumbling over herself. An hour of drunk giggling soon led to a passed out Callie who snored softly in my bed. I sighed knowing that my insomniac ways were getting the best of me. It also didn’t help that I had drank at least four cans of soda. I felt the caffeine bubbling in my stomach, making me feel bloated.

Walking to my bedroom window, I climbed out into the night and sat on the roof. I wasn’t looking for stars or looking for anything at all. I just wanted to be in a high place with nothing but silence enveloping me. I closed my eyes and laid down on the roof. I was lying still to try and see if I could hear the traffic of Highway-18. It wasn’t far from my house and some nights, if it was quiet enough, you could hear the rumbling cars speeding on the paved road. The sounds of cars passing by were truly my lullabies. I always wanted to be one of those late night drivers that had nowhere to go and was only faced with the paved road ahead of me. I would spend more nights that I’d like to admit fantasizing about the day where I could do nothing, but still do everything I ever wanted. However, tonight wouldn’t be that night. I had to prioritize myself in order to build my future.

I didn’t know when I fell asleep, but all I know is that I woke up to the morning sky hanging high above me. Getting up slowly, I felt the kinks in my back and neck from sleeping on the hard roof. Slowly stretching out my aches and pains, I let out a yawn before climbing back into my room. Callie was still in my bed as I hopped in. With shaky legs, I walked to my bathroom and turned the water on. I glanced at my clock which read 5:42. I had always been a light sleeper; combine that with my occasional insomniac ways and you have a straight A student who passed the time by reading books.

The warm water coasted down my back, relieving some of the tension that had accumulated through the night. My shower time was usually spent in deep thought, and for some reason I couldn’t help but think of Tony. The things he told me last night confused me. I honestly thought that his intentions were to ask Callie out, but all throughout the night he sat next to me. We spoke occasionally, but for the most part we’d sit in silence.

Maybe he just wanted to escape the party like I had.
I reasoned with myself as I washed my hair and scrubbed my body. I shaved my legs before turning off the water and wrapping myself in my towel. I quickly brushed my teeth until all I could taste was mint in my mouth.

I walked over to Callie and shook her awake. Her eyes slowly fluttered open. “Cal’s, you should be getting ready—you know, for you meeting or whatever.”

“Shit.” She mumbled into my pillow.

Callie dragged herself into my bathroom after mumbling a ‘good morning’ to me. I chuckled before browsing through my closet. I decided to wear my black tank with grey jeans and my maroon colored cardigan. I threw on some of my black bracelets before I glanced at my reflection. I was too lazy to do anything with my hair, so I just twisted it into a bun before I debated whether or not I should apply makeup. I decided on doing anything drastic and swiped on some mascara before grabbing out my pair of black Vans.

My reflection mirrored my thick thighs and the way I had an abundance of curves running down my weirdly tall frame. I towered over most of the pixie-like girls in my school—other than Callie of course who conveniently was the same height as me, which made her an ideal model for most ad agencies. I had a pouch for a stomach and my shoulders were broad from being really into swimming as a child. I glanced at my boobs and sighed. They were large, but so was everything else about me which made them seem moderately mediocre compared to Callie whose chest size was the same cup size as mines. I was never one to compare my body type, but there were moments that I felt the stinging bite of insecurity sink into my flesh.

“You look cute.” Callie commented with a smirk on her face.

I shrugged. “I look like I do every other day.”

Callie was about to say something but then closed her mouth for a brief moment. “You spent the entire night talking to Tony Perry.” Callie smiled; finally breaking through the silence as she pulled on her clothes.

Callie and I had reached the point in our friendship where changing in front of each other really didn’t bother us. I can count on both hands where I had seen my best friend’s boobs. On the contrary though, I still would try my best to hide my body from the perfect specimen that is Callie.

“Your point?” I asked.

“Well for someone that you claim doesn’t like you; I find it hard to believe. I mean, the party was great. There were countless of drinking games and all his friends were there…” Callie alluded.

“Maybe Tony didn’t feel up to partying.” I offered.

Callie rolled her eyes. “Do you like him?” She asked with a smirk on her face.

Honestly, Tony seemed like a nice guy, but I really wasn’t into the dating scene or even the slight implication of ever dating. I felt like a defect for not wanting to hook up with someone.

“No.” I said bluntly.

“You’re lying.”

“No, no I’m not.”

“V, there’s no shame in admitting to me, your best friend, that you have a crush on someone.” Callie smirked at me.

I scoffed. “I can assure you Cal’s, that if there ever is a day when I start to develop any form of feelings for someone” I began.

“That doesn’t involve anger or disgust.” Callie cut in.

“Then you’ll be the first to know.” I assured her.

“That’s all I ask for.” Callie replied.

“Great, now considering that I have about an hour to get to campus, how’s about we grab some coffee.” I suggested.

“I’ll go with you, but I can’t have anything but water. I don’t wanna bloat.” Callie answered.

“Really Cal’s?” I asked skeptically before adding “You could probably down the entire body of water this planet has to offer and still wouldn’t bloat.”

Rolling her eyes, Callie grabbed my keys from my dresser and walked out of my room. I followed behind with a smile on my face.

It's 2:14am and I have to get ready for work at 5:45am but yet I am reading this story because Im obsessed. I'm on chapter 20 and am dying of the cuteness. THIS STORY IS AMAZING.

YESYESYESYESYEYSYESYESYES

*tears* Aww. That was a great end! It wasn't annoyingly ambiguous. If you find a plat suitable for a sequel, then please don't even hesitate to write it. But I wouldn't mind reading a different stroy by you either.
