Where Do We Go From Here?

"Find a new favorite."

“What do you mean you don’t want to go anymore?” Callie whined.

“I just don’t find the idea of going to a party all that appealing.” I shrugged in response.

We were in the coffee shop just off from the mall. Callie had to look for new clothes for an upcoming meeting with some boutique. She ordered her usual chi green tea while I ordered a gut busting frappucino with extra whip cream. Ordering these drinks daily had put another five pounds to my 5’8” frame.

“C’mon V, Tony will totally want you to attend.” Callie said.

I sighed. “Cal, he likes you. I know this because he told me.”

Callie shook her head. “That’s not what I heard.”

Rolling my eyes, I replied with “Well you heard wrong.”

“I promise we’ll have fun.” She begged while puffing out her bottom lip.

“Puppy dog eyes, nice touch.” A few moments of silence passed as I drank down the last sips of my drink. “Fine, but I am not wearing anything that I don’t always wear.”

“Sounds fine by me.” She smiled.

We walked into the muggy air of San Diego, Callie pulling out her sunglasses while I pulled out my pack of cigarettes.

“I thought you quit.” She commented.

“I did, but then I decided I missed the idea of cancer.” I shrugged.

“That’s not funny.” Callie said softly.

“Don’t worry Cal’s. I do this as my subtle form of rebellion.” I smiled.

She did too, but her smile didn’t reach her ears. “I just don’t want to lose my best friend.”

“You won’t.” I promised.

Instead of moving from the parking stall I had acquired by luck that was conveniently in front of the coffee shop, we walked to the mall. Callie bulleted towards Forever 21, a store I only go into during Christmas and that’s only because Veronica liked their stuff. I browsed through the clearance racks and came across nothing I really liked. Glancing over at Callie, I saw that she was taken away with the display of new leggings and jeans.

Cal, I’m going to the music store real quick.” I told her. She nodded with a smile on her face before I left the store. Just across the vast open space was Muzik Geekz—the name made me cringe, but they always had the best variety of vinyl’s.

I walked in to the faint smell of what can only be described as the musky smell of old vinyl’s. I smiled at this then began browsing through their selection. Sex Pistols, Nirvana, Thrasher, and Metallica vinyl’s had caught my eye. I was in some form of heaven as I managed to contain the giddy laugh bubbling behind my lips.

“Can I help you?” A familiar voice asked from behind me.

I turned around to find Tony looking at me with a toothy grin on his face. “No.” I said plainly.

“I never pegged you as a stalker.” He commented.

I scoffed.

“Don’t try to deny it, Verity. You have a crush on me, huh?” He egged.

I shook my head. “Far from that, really. I came in here for vinyl’s and once you ring me up—since I’m assuming you work here—I will be on my way.”

“So honest.” He chuckled as I handed him the four vinyl’s. “I’m surprised you didn’t pick up any of the Killers.”

“I already collected all I wanted from them.” I replied. Tony stopped what he was doing to look at me. “What?” I asked.

“You don’t seem like a punk rock fan.” He commented.

I glanced down at my shirt. “I’m wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt.” I pointed.

“True, but most girls tend to wear these because some fashionista claims that vintage is in.” Tony countered.

“Point taken, but this shirt is actually my mom’s. She was a true 80’s lady.” I said. A few moments of silence passed over us before I say “Now would be the time for you to finish up our transaction.”

Tony laughed. “Yeah, sorry.” He finished ringing me up and told me my total.

Pulling out my card, I swiped it in the machine and signed it electronically. “Thanks.” I said while grabbing my bag from him.

“You and Callie are still coming tonight, right?” Tony asked quickly before I left.

“Wouldn’t think of missing it.” I replied blandly before leaving.

I walked out of the store just in time to bump into Callie who had two bags from Forever 21. “You good?” I asked as she walked towards me.

“Definitely. I even bought us both new outfits for tonight.” She smiled.

I scowled.

“Don’t be such a grump, you’ll love it.” Callie assured me as we walked towards Barns & Noble.

“Don’t think—even for a second—that tonight will be some makeover for me.” I deadpanned.

“It’s just a few new tops that would go great with some jeans you already have.” Callie replied innocently.

I found it hard to believe, but I decided to drop the topic before I got too upset over it. “I’m glad that you’re distracting me with Barns & Noble.” I laughed.

“I figured since you’re always reading that other book of yours that maybe it’s time to find a new favorite.” She smiled.

“I won’t argue with you on that.” I smiled before happily entering the book store.

It's 2:14am and I have to get ready for work at 5:45am but yet I am reading this story because Im obsessed. I'm on chapter 20 and am dying of the cuteness. THIS STORY IS AMAZING.

YESYESYESYESYEYSYESYESYES

*tears* Aww. That was a great end! It wasn't annoyingly ambiguous. If you find a plat suitable for a sequel, then please don't even hesitate to write it. But I wouldn't mind reading a different stroy by you either.
