Where Do We Go From Here?

"Promise not to tell Tony?"

The rest of the week passed by in an anticipated blur.

Callie had informed me that she and Mike were finally a couple. Apparently at Austin’s party, during a game of beer pong Mike had kissed her on the lips and for anyone in high school, a public kiss is the equivalent to the verbal claim of someone’s relationship status. I remember hearing the buzz about Mike’s and Callie’s relationship all Thursday morning. People were calling them the new power couple that just so happened to replace Scott Reeves (captain of the football team) and Tammy Patton (head cheerleader). Mike’s and Callie’s relationship speculations had even put a damper on mines and Tony’s relationship; which made me breathe with relief. I was more than relieved to have the school’s attention elsewhere.

“Will you be able to come to the pep rally this Saturday?” Callie asked me with pleading eyes.

Today we carpooled together and were now heading to my locker to drop off my Physics textbook. Since it was a Friday, our Physics teacher has scheduled a test in which we wouldn’t need a textbook due to the fact we wouldn’t have enough time for an actual lesson.

“I’m not sure. I think I’m still grounded.” I answered.

Callie sighed. “I don’t want to go by myself.” She pouted.

“You’ll be with your team.” I pointed out before saying “Besides, I’m sure Mike wouldn’t mind standing off to the side watching you do your high kicks.” I smirked.

Callie rolled her eyes. “It won’t be the same without you.”

I shrugged. “Unless you can loosen the reigns in which I am bound to—courtesy of my parents—then it’s highly unlikely I can go.”

Callie’s eyes lit up with a plan. “Isn’t your brother coming down tonight?” She asked.

“Yeah, why?”

“Well, he can easily grease the wheels of your parents. Then, once Jason makes them come to their senses you will be off the hook.”

“That sounds like a dumb plan.” I chuckled.

Callie rolled her eyes. “V, if there’s one thing I know it’s that when your brother starts to go on a roll, he’s quite the litigator. I swear it runs in your family.”

“I guess, but I don’t know if Jason is willing to cash in some chips for me.” I shrugged. “Besides, I’m saving my chips for something else.”

“Like?” Callie asked, elongating the ‘I’ in like.

“Promise not to tell Tony?” I asked, assuring that what I’ll be saying next won’t spill over to Tony.

Callie crossed her heart before saying “Promise.”

“According to Lori—the mentor from Columbia—there will be a weekend where high school students can tour Columbia’s campus, and I want to go. However, in Lori’s email she mentions that the high school seniors will be boarding in the dorms for the weekend, so I highly doubt the parents will be on campus.” I said lowly as we began to near my locker.

Callie nodded. “So why the secrecy from Tony?”

“Because the last time I brought up the idea that I want to go to the east coast for college, he kinda seemed upset about it.” I answered before chucking my bulky textbook into my locker.

Callie smiled widely before asking “Is he thinking that you two will stay together longer than high school?”

I shrugged.

“Are you guys official yet?” Callie asked.

“I’d like to think so.” I answered. “I mean, I’d be a little hurt if he was seeing someone else.”

“Has he called you his girlfriend?”

“A few times.” I admitted. “But it sorta seemed to be used in a joking way. Tony did say that he really liked me.”

Callie smiled. “He’s probably holding back on the whole ‘girlfriend’ thing because he knows that you’re not like most girls.” She offered.

“I guess. Besides, I’m really not in a rush with our relationship.” I replied.

We spent the rest of the morning talking about what the pep rally would have to offer. It was always the same thing every year. The pep rally would be held at the football field where a ‘ceremony’ would take place. The cheerleaders would get the crowd pumped with a newly put together routine they’ve been practicing then coach Jeff would speak briefly on how Clairemont’s Razorbacks will exhibit a promising victory from a game that will take place that night. I would usually sit in the stands, eating greasy fries while drinking a Pepsi. In the past, I was usually Callie’s ride to and from pep rallies. However, with her new man candy, I think Mike will surely replace me—not that I’d hold it against her.

Tony and Mike joined us shortly after, which caused a few wandering eyes to stare in our direction. Tony still respected the boundaries I put up against PDA. In school, I’d limit our contact to hand holding and occasional pecks on the cheek because I didn’t care to have eyes boring into us anymore than they already were.

“When do you think your punishment will end?” Tony asked.

By now, Mike and Callie were enwrapped with their own conversation, leaving Tony and me to converse on our own.

I sighed lightly. “Next week looks promising, but Cal’s wants me to cash in my chips for this weekend so I can go to the pep rally.” I answered.

Tony laughed. “Pep rallies aren’t your thing?” He asked sarcastically.

“I only go to cheer on Callie, but other than that; no, they aren’t.” I replied with a smirk.

“Well I was thinking sometime next week after you’re finished with work, I can take you on that first date I promised.” Tony smiled.

“I do like the sound of that.” I smiled, looking into Tony’s eyes. “Can you at least hint on what I can expect?”

“Nope, it’ll defeat the purpose of it being a surprise.”

“The suspense is killing me.” I commented before saying “Not even a tiny hint?”

Nearly closing the distance between us, Tony whispered “No.”

His breath fanned my face and if I were to move slightly our lips would’ve been touching. I blushed at the thought, wishing I could toss away the rules I embedded into my memory just so I can kiss him. However, my rational side of my brain won over the internal debate, rendering me to remain still.

I gulped. “Fine.”

It's 2:14am and I have to get ready for work at 5:45am but yet I am reading this story because Im obsessed. I'm on chapter 20 and am dying of the cuteness. THIS STORY IS AMAZING.

YESYESYESYESYEYSYESYESYES

*tears* Aww. That was a great end! It wasn't annoyingly ambiguous. If you find a plat suitable for a sequel, then please don't even hesitate to write it. But I wouldn't mind reading a different stroy by you either.
