Where Do We Go From Here?

"We tend to always say the wrong things."

I met up with Callie for lunch. She was sitting in our usual spot with a few ogling onlookers glancing in her direction. It was something Callie never paid much attention to. The attention she got for being beautiful never fazed her unless someone would compare her to me; that’s when her shy side would evaporate. Smiling, I made my way through the cafeteria with my nachos and water bottle and sat across from her.

“Hey V.” She greeted with a warm smile.

“Hey Cal.” I replied.

Unlike grade school, we no longer had any classes together, so this is the first time we saw each other today. Callie took regular classes while I was bumped into AP and College Prep courses. She would always say that I’d be someone who would probably be voted in as America’s first female president, but I could care less. I just wanted to get through high school and college with as little scathes as possible.

“Becky told me that you basically ripped Tony Perry, Mike Fuentes, and Austin Carlile a new one.” A grin appeared on her face as she started to giggle.

“This school really needs to learn how to spread information.” I mumbled.

Cocking her perfectly shaped eyebrow, Callie asked “So, you spoke with them?”

“Barely. I was by the tree when Tony approached me. Then somewhere between awkward small talk and his cell phone constantly ringing, did his two idiot friends show up. I wouldn’t have minded their company if they didn’t identify me as Jason’s little sister.” I scowled.

With an exaggerated gasp Callie said “How dare they?”

I laughed. “It was tragic.”

“So why was Tony Perry sitting next to you? I bet he likes you.” Callie commented with a smirk.

Rolling my eyes and shaking my head, I said “No, he doesn’t.”

“You never know.” She sing-songed.

“Oh, but I do.” I mimicked.

Callie retired the motion and instead went back to eating. I munched on my nachos until I nearly choked on it when Tony and his two friends sat next to Callie and I. Unscrewing the cap of my bottle, I took a swig of it to help my nachos go down my throat.

“Hello Verity and Callie.” Tony commented while plopping next to me. His tow friends took a seat across from, giving space between them and Callie.

I inwardly groaned as Callie’s face lit up. I could see what she was thinking just by the way her bright blue eyes were dancing between Tony and I. I logically reasoned that he only sat next to me so he could have a reason to stare at Callie without looking like some creep.

“So what brings you to our corner of the world?” I asked blandly.

“V, be nice.” Callie scolded. “Hi, I’m Callie.” She introduced.

“I’m Tony and these two are Austin and Mike.” Tony reciprocated.

The three boys were captured by Callie that it almost made me laugh.

“You didn’t answer my question.” I pointed out.

Coughing to cover up my rude ways, Callie said “V, here was just telling me about her morning.”

“Really?” Tony asked flirtatiously. He oozed charm that I found it fairly dizzying, but not in a swooning way but rather a nauseating way.

In a deadpan voice, I said “Yeah, I was telling her how much my personality resembled a bowl of sunshine.”

Austin chuckled at this. “It was quite entertaining to see her so happy.”

I smirked at him before sarcastically saying “You should see me do my comedy act at the community center.”

“Be nice.” Callie scolded again. “Sorry, Verity is fluent in sarcasm.”

“And profanity.” I chimed in. “Anyway, I have this very important thing that I didn’t make up, but I have to do it, so I’ll see you after school.” I said to Callie while gathering my things. My nachos were unfinished but it was fine since my appetite was done with. The three guys had put an end to my hunger.

“You’re leaving?” Tony asked.

“Yeah, because I have this important thing I need to do.” I said with an impassive expression coating over my lie.

“V, you’re not going anywhere so sit your cute butt down.” Callie giggled.

“I think you’re the only person to ever call my butt cute.” I rolled my eyes, but reluctantly sat back down. I adjusted my tank again before playing with the undesirable chips on my plate.

Mike shrugged. “Your butt would do it for me.”

With my eyes growing wide, I let out a scoff. “What do you guys want?” I asked a little harshly.

Austin snickered. “We tend to always say the wrong things.” He sounded apologetic, but I wasn’t in the forgiving mood.

“Austin here is throwing a party tonight and we were wondering if you two would want to come.” Tony said, smiling at Callie.

Callie looked at me, waiting for me to answer. This is usually what our decision making came down to. An offer was presented and it was usually me who made the decision for us both since Callie was down to do whatever I was up for.

“Sounds like fun.” Callie mused.

I shrugged. “I have a Calculus test tomorrow.”

Callie pondered. “I do have a photo shoot in the morning.”

“That might just be a ‘no’ boys.” I said to them.

“What? Where is your rebellious side?” Mike remarked.

“It’s waiting for me at my college dorm.” I retorted.

“But this is an Austin Carlile party.” Tony added.

“Is that supposed to mean something to me?” I rebutted blandly.

“Just drop by. You don’t have to stay the entire time, hell you don’t even have to drink.” Austin said, trying to find a compromise.

Callie looked at me while chewing her bottom lip. It was a look I knew very well. It meant that she could handle Austin’s offer as long as I was willing to do so.

I sighed. “Fine, but the minute I feel remotely repulsed we’re leaving.” With that I got up and walked to the trash bin to throw away my unfinished lunch and stalked off to class.

It's 2:14am and I have to get ready for work at 5:45am but yet I am reading this story because Im obsessed. I'm on chapter 20 and am dying of the cuteness. THIS STORY IS AMAZING.

YESYESYESYESYEYSYESYESYES

*tears* Aww. That was a great end! It wasn't annoyingly ambiguous. If you find a plat suitable for a sequel, then please don't even hesitate to write it. But I wouldn't mind reading a different stroy by you either.
