Glass Hearts
First Meeting
On the drive to the recording studio where I was to meet Of Mice & Men, I decided to listen to some of their music. The first song to play was a song I was familiar with. I turned the volume up and listened to 'Let Live'.
The studio wasn't too far from my house, so hopefully I wasn't going to be late.
Hopefully.
I stopped at a red light, right as 'You Make Me Sick' started to play. The music was so loud that I almost didn't hear my phone ringing. I snatched it up and answered it without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello." I kind of yelled over the music before turning it down. A few seconds passed and no answer. I started driving, repeating myself. "Hello?" A little more irritated now.
"Hello Faith." That voice sickened me. I knew exactly who it was.
"What the fuck do you want, Ian?" I snapped at him. He laughed.
"So hostile towards me." I could hear the smirk on his face as he said that. Chills went down my spine knowing that evil smirk playing across his face.
"Of course I'm going to be hostile towards you, you fucking prick." This wasn't the time to fuck with me. I was running late to my first meeting with the band who asked me to be their photographer.
"Having fun listening to Of Mice & Men?" My stomach dropped.
Okay Faith. Calm down. He probably just heard it when you answered the phone.
"What the fuck are you talking about? I'm driving right now." I made a sharp left turn before the light turned red and was about five minutes away from the studio.
"Still driving the Range Rover, I see." My breathing hitched in my throat.
"How do you know that?" I questioned, my voice a little shaky.
"Look behind you." With those three words, I hung up the phone and kept my eyes on the road. Within two seconds, my phone rang again.
"Leave me the fuck alone, Ian!" I yelled, tears brimming my eyes.
"Faith?" This voice was unfamiliar but very sweet.
"Y-yes?" I wiped away a tear falling down my cheek, while glancing in the rearview mirror. I tried to contain my shriek of fearing when I saw Ian still behind me.
"Are you okay? You sound shaken up." Concern took over in this man's voice.
"I-I... Who is this?" Without realizing it, I started to speed.
"My name is Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men." He rushed through what he was saying. "Are you alright?"
"Umm..."
Do I trust him to tell him I'm being followed by a crazy ass ex-boyfriend?
"Faith? Are you there?" A hint of panic could be heard in his sweet voice.
"Yeah. I'm being followed." Before I could think of what I just said, I looked back and saw Ian pull something out. I couldn't tell what it was but I just kept my eyes straight ahead. "I'm almost to the studio, can someone meet me outside? I'll be there in about a minute."
"Of course. I'll be out there waiting for you. Do you know who is following you?" Before I could answer him, I heard a loud POP and my back windshield busted out.
"Fuck! He has a goddamn gun!" I yelled to myself, forgetting Austin was on the phone. I stepped on the gas pedal and turned into the studio parking lot. A tall, skinny tattooed guy was standing outside with a phone to his ear.
"I see you, I'm right outside." I said a quick 'okay' and hung up the phone. I looked behind me to see if Ian had pulled in too. Luckily he didn't. My hands were shaking as I opened my door and stepped out. Austin was sprinting towards me. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He asked quickly looking me over looking for any damage. Once he was done, I grabbed my portfolio out of the back seat and went to the back of my Range Rover.
The whole back windshield was busted out and I could see where the bullet was. The bullet was lodged in the back seat head rest.
"Holy fucking shit." I whispered. Austin walked around to where I was standing. "If my backseat would have been laid down, he could have hurt or killed me." My hands were still shaking as I shut my door and stood infront of Austin. I held a shaky hand out to him. "I'm Faith Mason." He smiled and took ahold of my hand.
"Austin Carlile." I couldn't help but look up into his eyes. My heart melted and butterflies moshed around in my stomach. "Come on. Let's go inside so you can meet the others." As I followed Austin inside, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out to see a text message.
You thought you left me in Michigan but I finally found you. I will make you pay for what you did to me.
