Would You Still Be There

15 - Alan

I looked up to where I was sitting on the couch, startled when I hear the door slam open. Suddenly I saw Austin stepping inside my house, looking like he was about to fall over. Quickly, I ran over to him.

"Austin? What the hell are you doing here? Oh my god- are you okay?" I quickly grabbed onto Austin's arms, helping him over to sit down on the couch. He seemed completely exhausted, and I noticed he was still wearing his hospital gown. Did he break out and walk all the way here too see me? I hoped not.

"You haven't come to see me in the days and you wouldn't answer any of my calls- I-I'm sorry.." He whispered, suddenly I understood. I hadn't been able to get got the hospital because my dad and I got in a huge fight, resulting in him grounding me and taking my phone.

"I'm so sorry Austin. My dad grounded me and I couldn't contact you. I'd never leave you like that on purpose I swear." I felt extremely guilty. Austin seemed to have calmed down after that, sighing and resting his head down on the couch.

I smiled and put my arm around him, wanting to enjoy the time we had together because I knew I'd have to take him back soon.

Sighing I got up from the couch to put in a movie, quickly choosing one and then sitting back down next to Austin. He curled into me and I smiled, kissing him on the head.

Once the movie was over I knew I had to tell Austin he had to go back to the hospital, his dad was probably worried sick.

"Austin.. you need to go back to the hospital." I said carefully. He looked at me sadly.

"I know.." He whispered. "I just wanted to see you." We sat in silence for a while after that until I finally decided I had to call Austin's dad.

I looked through a pile of papers on the kitchen counter before finally finding the businees card he's given me, quickly dialing his number.

"Hey Mr Carlile, It's Alan. Austin's here with me"
