Chapter Fifty-Three

Brooklyn

I could feel someone holding my hand, but I wasn't sure who.

I blinked a couple times and woke up, as I looked around the room.

How long have I been out? What day is it?

Looking down I saw Austin sleeping with his head laying on the bed and his arm on my

leg holding me close.

"Austin." I whispered tapping his arm.

He groaned and started rubbing his eyes.

Austin looked up at me and smiled, "Brooklyn!"

He got up and kissed my forehead.

"Hi." I whispered and smiled a little. My face hurt to move.

"How are you feeling?" He asked looking me over.

"Very sore."

Austin nodded and told me he would go get the nurse. I nodded and watched him walk

out of the room.

-Austin-

Brooklyn woke up and I was so happy! I missed seeing her and just holding her in my

arms.

"David!" I said walking over to him.

David looked up as he nodded and walked over to me.

"What is it Austin?" He asked.

"Brooklyn's awake!" I said and he shook his head like he didn't believe me.

I told him to go into the room while I went and got a doctor.

I told Dr. Lee that she was awake and we walked back to Brooklyn's room. Brooklyn was

sitting up and slightly talking to her dad.

"Hello Brooklyn!" Dr. Lee said walking over to her.

She smiled some and nodded.

"How are you feeling?" He asked picking up his clipboard.

"Confused, tired, and in pain." Brooklyn whispered.

He nodded, "Well you were not raped, just dehydrated, under fed, and abused."

Brooklyn looked at all of us them looked down as if she was remembering something. I

could hear her start to sob and then it was full out hysterics.

"Please! Don't let him hurt me!" Brooklyn screamed and we all tried to calm her down.

I put my hands in her face gently because of her bruise and made her look at me.

Brooklyn had tears streaming down her face and I brushed them away with my thumbs.

"Brooklyn, he is not going to hurt you. You are completely safe right now and he is

nowhere near you, there is no way that any of us would let him come near you." I

whispered.

She slowly started calming down and eventually stopped crying.

I kissed her forehead.

"Will you lay with me?" Brooklyn whispered. I nodded and moved her over gently as I

laid on the bed next to her.

Brooklyn moved down some and laid her head on my chest closing her eyes.

I hummed, When You Can't Sleep At Night, and watched as she fell asleep.

When I looked up to take to David I saw that everyone had left.

I closed my eyes and just let myself fall asleep, holding my princess.
