The Storm (An Austin Carlile fanfic)

~Chapter 2~

Austin's POV

I woke up earlier than usual. I never wake up before 12 but today, I can make an exception. I was excited. Today is the day that I'm having lunch with Callie. The most prettiest girl I have ever seen. After the divorce with Gielle and all, I didn't think I was going to find another girl that gave me that sensation like Callie did last night when we touched hands. But I did. It was her. No other girl is making me feel the way I feel now.

I mean, yeah, I went out with a couple girls, but they didn't last long. They didn't want to wait around for me knowing that I have to travel because of work. But I moved on from that. That was in the past. I'm more focused on the future. I picked a nice, simple outfit and rushed into the shower. Once I was finished, I brushed my teeth and quickly found a new pack of Hanes boxer briefs and put my clothes on. I did my hair in a causal messy style with gel, of course. After I was satisfied, I grabbed my car keys and left my house.

On the drive to Callie's, I was getting kinda nervous but excited at the same time. I haven't done this in awhile because I've been on the road so much. I wonder how she going to look. I mean, she looked gorgeous yesterday so I wouldn't be surprised if she looked gorgeous today. I smiled at the thought of Callie. She said it was 'Nice to finally meet' me. Was she a fan? Has she heard of me from someone else? Hopefully soon, I'll have an answer to my suspicions.

Callie's POV

I put on my outfit for my lunch with Austin. Was I excited? Hell yeah, who would have not been excited to have lunch with Austin? I had butterflies in my stomach. I haven't been out with a guy in forever. Not since what happen to me years ago. I heard the doorbell ring signaling Austin was at the door. "Callie, Austin's here." Eleana shouted from downstairs. More like a muffled shout from my door being closed. "Coming, couple more seconds." I shouted back. I finished putting on my plugs, stepping back to see the finishing look. Makeup was fine, my hair was manageable. Perfect.

I spritz perfume on and exited my bedroom. I was halfway down the steps when cologne was hit my way. I looked to see big brown eyes staring at me."Hey Austin." I smiled at him. "Hey Callie. You look.. beautiful." He smiled widely. I blushed and replied with a, "Thank you." I looked towards my sister, "I'll be home soon." She nodded her head. "Have fun you two." She said with a wink towards me. I knew that wink; the 'You want the D' wink. I frowned at her before turning to Austin. "Are you ready?" I asked. He stepped out the way. "After you, my lady." He smiled.
Austin and I exited the house. Walking towards his car, he opened the passenger seat for me.

"Thank you." I said. "You're welcome." He smiled. Dammit, those butterflies in my stomach again are coming back hardcore. "Are you excited?" He asked as he closed the driver side door and turned the ignition on. "Pretty stoked." I laughed. We feel into easy conversation the past couple of minutes. "So, where exactly are you taking me, Mr. Carlile?" I asked. "The best restaurant in town." He laughed.

We arrived at our destination in a matter of minutes. It was a cozy restaurant I went with Eleana and Andrew one time. It had the best pizza ever. "Have you been here before?" Austin asked me as we were walking towards the entrance. "Yeah, a couple months ago, I believe." I said.
"The pizza was so good." The hostess smiled at us. "Hello, How many?" She asked in a cheery voice. "Two, please." Austin said. "Okay, follow me please." The hostess directed us to a booth. We sat across from each other as our waiter was setting up the table. "Hello, I'm Collin and I will be your waiter today. Can I start you with drinks?" Collin said. "I'll have a Corona please? What would you like, Callie?" Austin asked. I looked at the options. "Could I have a Shirley Temple please? Extra cherry?" I said sweetly. "Of course. I'll give you time to look at appetizers and meals." Collin smiled at us and left.

I looked up from the menu to see Austin staring at me. "What?" I blushed. "Nothing," He laughed. "So, tell me everything about you." I looked down. "There isn't much to tell. I'm 19, go to college at USC, work at Barnes and Noble on weekends, a band fanatic, and was saved by bands such as yours." I replied quietly. "So you do know who Of Mice & Men are?" He gasped. "Yeah, You guys are one of my favorite bands actually.. and my hero's." I said quietly.

"If you don't mind me asking, How did the band save you?" Austin asked sweetly. I looked up at him, staring into his eyes, getting lost in them. "A couple years ago, I was going through a rough time. Did things to myself and turned to music as therapy. Bands such as yours saved my life and I was hoping to meet you all and thank you in person." I smiled at him. He was quiet while listening to me speak. That's one of the things I love about him. He listens and takes the time to hear you out. "Well, no one such as beautiful as you should have had to put up with whatever you had to put up with a couple of years ago." He said quietly.

I blushed. Before I got the chance to answer him, our drinks came. We took a sip of our drinks at the same time. "So what happen a couple of years ago?" He asked hesitantly. I froze. This conversation has escalated quickly. I closed my eyes, trying so hard not to think about the past. Block out the inner thoughts that were returning to my mind. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry." He said. He clasped his hand in mine. I don't know what it was but when Austin touched my hand, it calmed me. I opened my eyes. "It's okay." I said after a few minutes of silence. "I won't ask again, I promise." Austin said gently. I nodded. It was only then when I noticed we were still holding hands. I looked at our hands and looked at him. I never wanted him to let them go. He looked down at our hands and I knew from just looking at his body language that he didn't want to let go either. "Sorry." He let go of my hand. I felt like I wanted to whimper in defeat. I loved the way his hand felt on mine. It was warm, comforting, I felt like at home; like they were made for each other.

We heard a throat clear and looked up. "Sorry to bother you guys, but are you ready to order?" Collin asked apologetic. "Um.. yeah." Austin said recollecting himself. We ordered and fell into easy conversation about Football, bands and just him himself before our food came. In about thirty more minutes, we were done. "I'll pay." I said. "What?!" He exclaimed. "No way, put your money away. I'm the gentleman, who is going to pay." I started to protest but Austin already put his card in the bill. I waited for him outside the restaurant before he came out, placing his wallet in his back pocket.

"Ready?" He asked as we started walking to his car. On the car ride to my house, we sang at the top of our lungs to Fall Out Boy that was playing on the radio. A moment too soon we reached my house. I felt sad. I didn't want to leave Austin just yet. I wanted just a few more hours with him. But I savored all the time I could have with him today. I looked at him and he was looking at me. "Shall I walk you to your door?" He asked. I nodded with a smile.

We were standing on the door steps. My feet felt like they were stuck to the concrete that was under my heels. I looked at Austin. "Thank you for taking me out to lunch." I smiled. "You're welcome." He smiled back. We stood there, staring into each others eyes. "I had fun." I said after a few moments of nothing but the bushes rustling. "I did too. We should do it again sometime." He smiled. I looked down at my heels and back up at him. I leaned forward and hugged him. He hugged back immediately. He cologne smelt so good. I felt like I was in heaven. His arms were wrapped so tightly around me and I knew he didn't want to let go; I didn't want to let either.

I finally did and when I did, I kissed his cheek. "Thank you Austin. Text me?" I asked. He nodded and hugged me one final time before we both parted.
