A Fairy Tale Gone Insane

I'm Right Here.

“Princess? How can that be? We don’t have princesses anymore.” I started pacing.
“Is because your kind killed us off?” She asked quietly. I looked at her.
“Killed you off? No. We’re Americans. We have no ruler, we have a president. It’s like a king but he doesn’t have power over everything. What do you mean princess? Like England?” I asked. She rolled her eyes.
“No, mangy mutts the lot of them. I’m from Grendale, enemy of England and the church. They never liked us to begin with. I do not know the reason why, but I have to get back. My mother is dead and my people need me.” She started walking toward the door when I stopped her.
“Woah, slow down okay? You’re not going anywhere till we get you out of these clothes. Now come with me.” I grabbed her hand and walked her to the bathroom. I shut the door and spun her around.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“I’m getting you out of this dress.” She turned around and grabbed my hand.
“No, I can get out of this myself, please.” Her eyes were puffy and I noticed that they were a deep purple.
“Okay, I’ll lay clothes outside the door for you okay?” I walked out and shut the door behind me. I walked over to my suitcase when I heard the door being knocked. I opened it to find Alan standing in the door.
“Dude are you coming or not?”
“Out clubbing. Remember?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“No, I’m not feeling good. You guys go have fun. Don’t do nothing I wouldn’t do.” He laughed.
“Can’t make any promises!” He yelled from the hallway. I shook my head and shut the door. I turned around and got a pair of sweats and a shirt from my suitcase and walked toward the bathroom. I heard her talking in there in some language that I had never heard of. And trust me, I’ve been to a lot of countries. I knocked on the door and she stopped talking.
“I have clothes out here waiting. Just let me know if you need anything else okay.”
“Thank you, Austin.” I smiled and walked to the couch. I heard the door unlock and out walked Nyeria in my clothes. They were big, but adorable on her.
“Is this what girls wear now?” She looked down and grabbed her, my, pants. I laughed.
“Well most of the time, girls wear tighter jeans. But since I didn’t know you were going to run into me, I didn’t have any girl pants.” She smiled and looked at my arms.
“Are you a wicken? My mother used to tell me that the most powerful wickens have marks on their bodies. To show how powerful they are.” She looked at my tattoos.
“No, I’m not a wicken. Just a singer for a band.” I laughed. Her eyes got wide and she backed up.
“You know what they are and you’re a mortal? How?” She asked.
“Well in school we had to learn about legends. We learned witches and wickens, Gods and powerful creatures. Really cool stuff, actually. When it’s fake and make believe, you have to let your imagination run wild” I shrugged. She shook her head.
“No, all of that is real. That was my world, until you mortals came and ruined it. Now I’m here alone and lost. I don’t know what to do and Mom is dead and I don’t know where to begin.” She started hyperventilating, so I just grabbed her and hugged her. I started stroking her hair and just whispering to her. Pretty soon she calmed down and looked at me. Her eyes were beginning to water and then she started to cry. I did the only thing that came to mind was to keep hugging her.
“It’s going to be okay. I’m right here.” I kept saying to her.
“I have to get back home. I don’t belong here.” It was something strange, really. I felt peace when I hold her in my arms. It’s weird and I can’t explain it. I didn’t feel this peaceful when Callie was in my arms. I shook my head of these thoughts and walked her to the bed. I laid her down and started walking off when she spoke my name.
“Austin? Can..can you stay with me tonight?” She said quietly. I smiled and turned around. I laid in bed and I felt her move closer and closer to me until her small frame was under my arm.

(Nyeria’s POV)

This is dangerous. I can’t be in bed with a stranger, especially a man. Yet, if I am doubting myself, than why do I feel so comfortable with him? I feel safer and more relaxed than I have ever been. Maybe I am supposed to find true love and be happy with a man by my side. Wouldn’t Mother be disappointed.
