Looks Can Be Deceiving

Austin’s POV- I laid in bed, feeling the cool air from my window roll over my bare chest. I swore I heard something in my room, but I was too tired to see what it was. It was probably just Pandora coming up from her study session. I had left her downstairs after dinner and a movie so she could study for her exam. I knew she was stressed, but after dinner she seemed a bit more relaxed. She told me she’d be up in a few hours or so after she was done. I rolled over and glanced at my alarm clock, realizing that it had been five hours since I’d went to bed at ten. It was now three and Pandora was not upstairs. I rubbed my eyes, popping my back. “Austin,” a male voice whispered. I jumped seeing a figure standing right next to my bed. “It’s Alan,” he slurred. 
“Jesus Christ Alan, you scared the shit out of me!” I whisper yelled as if Pandora was asleep next to me. “Sorry, I just thought I’d let you know that Pandora’s downstairs sleeping in your kitchen,” he hiccupped. I sighed, letting my heart relax. “Thanks. Did you just get home?” “Yeah… Phil and I decided to hit some bars after sushi.” I got up and pulled on some gym shorts. “Go get some sleep Alan. The guest bed is waiting and ready for you as usual.” He smiled, practically falling asleep in front of me. I hope Phil drove him here. “Thanks buddy,” he whispered, still smiling like an idiot. I helped him out of my room and made my way down the stairs as he headed off to bed. I looked around in the dark, spotting Pandora hunched over her Biology book at the counter. Alan wasn’t just hallucinating, she was definitely sleeping. “Pandora,” I whispered, not wanting to freak her out. I gently laid my hand on her shoulder, shaking it. 
“Yeah?” she responded, lifting up her head. “Let’s go upstairs and go to bed,” I suggested. She looked to the clock on the stove and rubbed her eyes. “Shit! I fell asleep studying. No, I can’t go to bed, I have to keep studying for this test.” “Why don’t you just come to bed with me? I’ll wake you up in the morning and everything will be fine. There’s only three more hours until you have to get up and I’m sure you won’t get much studying in. Don’t push yourself too hard, baby.” “Austin you don’t get it,” she sighed, closing her eyes. I wrapped my arm around her waist, closing her Biology book with other. “Not getting any sleep won’t help you one bit.” “Just leave me down here for another half hour, please?” “Stop being stubborn,” I let out my breath, pulling her text book away from her. “Now, let’s go to bed.” She stood up and stretched out, heading for the stairs. I knew she was nervous for her test, and now a bit pissed at me, but she wasn’t doing herself any favors by staying up this late. She crawled into bed, pulling the covers over her head. “Pandora.” She stayed silent. I moved over and pulled the sheets down. “What?” she asked, sounding exhausted. “Don’t be mad at me. I just want you to get some sleep. You’re wearing yourself down thinking about this test. Everything’s gonna go good.” “You don’t get it, Austin. You really don’t. Do you even remember what high school was like? Maybe you didn't have to care about your grades because you already knew what your life was going to be like, but that’s not my case. I can’t fail this class, otherwise I won’t be able to graduate.” She ran her hands through her hair, pulling at it. It was quiet for a minute before her body starting shaking as she cried. I sat up, moving her hands from her face. “I get what you mean, Pandora. I remember the stress. Just because I didn’t go to college doesn't mean I didn't have to get good grades. I know you’re extremely freaked out over this test, but at this point I think you just need sleep.” “Well then let me go to sleep. I’m tired and I have a headache.” She rolled over and wiped her eyes. I laid down, trying to sleep. She was over emotional and obviously not in a good mood. Maybe she was fighting a war.
