This Rebellion Has It's Cause

Chapter 6

I ripped down my covers and flopped down on my bed, letting out a groan. Austin has always been the one to joke around with me, listen to my issues, but he’s never shown a single sign that he was attracted to me. Now though, it seems to be massively different and I’m not sure if I like it or not. I’m so used to this being a one sided thing, something unrequited and now the idea that he does want me too kind of freaks me out. On the other hand it makes me to excited for words, but I’m so afraid that somehow I’m trying to rebound and I never want to do that to someone like Austin.

“Why the hell did he decide to do this now?” I moaned into my pillow as I squished it over my face.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself so I could sleep and recuperate from today’s hellish day. Sadly when I did fall asleep Austin’s face wouldn’t stop popping up in my dreams.

***

The next morning I awoke to a surprise, there was an arm wound about my waist and a warm breath on my cheek. I cracked my eye open to see that Austin had kept to his promise about getting in my bed if he got uncomfortable. I opened both my eyes all the way to take in the fact Austin was lying beside me in my bed. His hair was an absolute mess and his face was slightly flushed from the heat in this room. He was completely adorable, so much that I had to resist the urge to take my hand and put his hair back into place simply so I could run my fingers through it.

I guess he could feel me watching him because his eyelids slowly lifted and exposed his deep brown eyes. He was quiet for a minute and then smiled, “Good morning Tristy.”

“Good morning to you Austin.” I greeted him with a grin of my own.

“I’m going to take you out to breakfast today.”

I sat up on my side, keeping myself propped up on my elbow, “Oh really now?”

“Yea, it’s only fair for to me that I do that since you bought it yesterday morning.” He explained while moving his arm off of me so he could stretch his lengthy limbs.

“Sounds like a good deal to me.”

Austin climbs out my bed and that’s when I notice that he is shirtless and only wearing boxers. Thank god I was fast asleep whenever he got in my bed last night, who knows what I might have done. I tried to ignore my slightly dirty thoughts as I got out of bed and went to find something to wear for the day from my closet. I picked out a black and white stripped tank top with a pair of blue jeans shorts and I tied my hair up in a ponytail. Austin appeared in my room again fully dressed with his hair looking a bit more tamed than it had earlier.

“You ready to go?” He asked.

I nodded and quickly stepped into some white flip flops before we headed out to my little yellow car. Thankfully today he let me drive and we stopped at I-Hop for breakfast, which thrilled me since I love pancakes and waffles. We got inside, were seated, and given menus. I noticed that Austin kept peeking up at me from behind his menu, so the next time I caught him I stuck my tongue out, making a weird face which made him chuckle. We took turns ordering and the waitress looked like she wanted order Austin to get on the table and strip, so when she left I burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Austin asked looking confused.

I caught my breath before I spoke, “That girl looked like she wanted rape you.”

Austin laughed, “Yea I noticed that too.”

“Well who wouldn’t? Mr. Rock star.” I joked giggling profusely.

“Are you one of those girls too Tristan?” He questioned with a smirk and a mischievous glint in his eye.

I rolled my eyes, but for once decided to let him wonder just a bit, “I guess you might not ever know Carlile.”

He laughed softly himself, raising both his eyebrows as he folded his hands together over his mouth since his elbows were already put up on the table he said something that I couldn’t understand due to him having his lips covered.

“What did you just say?”

He shrugged, putting his arms down, “Nothing.”

I grinned wickedly “You are a liar, I heard you over there mutter under your breath. Fess up.”

My attention was suddenly pulled away when I saw Darby a few booths down from us, kissing on some tan muscular guy, yea that definitely was not Max.

“I knew I was right about that cheating whore.” I muttered with a stiff laugh, “Good that’s what he deserves.”

Austin seemed to be taken aback by my statement so I explained myself, “Do you see that girl over there with bright red hair?”

Austin’s eyes scanned the room till he finally found her, “Okay what about her?”

“That is Max’s new girlfriend or at least his new fuck buddy and she’s here sucking face with that guy, now that’s what I call karma.”

He laughed a little and nodded.

“The only bad thing is she’s way pretty than me.”

Austin rolled his eyes, “How?”

“She’s got long legs, a huge rack, and slutty behavior. What’s not there for a guy to like?”

“How about class?”

“That she is definitely lacking, but figure wise, Max did an upgrade.”

He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, “Tristan, don’t even get me started on you and your looks.”

“Is it really that bad?” I questioned, being somewhat sarcastic.
“Tristy stop it, you’re gorgeous. Now quit hating on yourself or I’ll douse you in this syrup.” He threatened playfully, picking up the bottle of maple syrup at the end of the table.

I chuckled shaking my head at him, “Alright.”

So Austin thinks I’m gorgeous? I couldn’t stop a blush from rising to my cheeks, painting them a bright pink. It shocked me because Max never called me something like that; it was always stuff like hot and sexy, but not something as flattering as gorgeous. I guess that’s why I haven’t truly ever gotten over Austin.

We finally got around to eating our pancakes, but I still felt so bummed that Max would rather be with someone that would be unfaithful just because they would, as he worded it, put out.

Austin noticed that I was moping and suddenly stated, “I know what I want to do to Max now to get back at him, do you want to help me? It might make you feel better.”

I thought about it for a minute and came to the conclusion that was just what I needed, a little dose of revenge, so I simply said, “Sure, why not?”

Austin grinned and quickly threw the money for the bill on the table and snatched my hand, rushing me out to the car. He hopped in the driver’s seat with a wicked intent on his face. He drove us back to his house and quickly rushed inside, telling me to wait here. He came back with a white bag in hand and popped my trunk, throwing it in there.

Austin climbed back in the car saying, “If this makes your car stink I’m so sorry and I promise I will fix it.”

“What did you just put in my trunk?” I questioned feeling a bit worried now.

He shook his head, “I’ll show you when we get there.”

As we drove to Max’s I was stressing that whatever Austin had in the back of my car would make it reek forever. We both knew that at this time of day Max would still be passed out from his late night binge drinking sessions, so we weren’t too worried about him catching us. We parked at the next building of apartments next to Max’s and Austin went for the back of my car to grab the garbage bag.

He ran up next to me and tells me, “We’re going to pour cat litter in his car.”

“That’s what that stuff is?” I ask finally being able to smell it, the scent was horrible.

Come to think of it Austin had several cats so the odor kind of made since, thank god I’ve never had to smell it before this. Austin and I tried to act casual as we walked through the parking lot to Max’s car, of course like always he managed to leave a window down. Austin covered his nose with his shirt and untied the bag, I hurriedly did the same. He tucked the opening of the bag in the car window and nodded for me to help him dump it in there. It took a minute empty the whole bag, but we knew by the time Max came out to his car it would stink to high heaven and there probably won’t be any way for him to get the stink out.

Austin discarded the trash bag in the dumpster and we got back in my car unseen. We drove off laughing our asses off, joking about how Max would react to his big ‘surprise’. Half way down the street I noticed that Austin looked a little uneasy.

“Are you alright?” I questioned casting him concerned glances.

“Does that place have surveillance cameras?” He asked growing pale.

I slammed my hands to the steering wheel cursing, “Shit it does! What are we gonna do?”

Austin was thoughtful a moment and then said, “We’ll just come back late tonight and see if we can get the video.”

“That won’t work.”

“Would you rather get caught then? We at least have to try.”

I groaned, hating the idea, it was very risky. I agreed to it anyway, seeing that I really had no other options. So now Austin and I hung out for the rest of the day, I went to the studio with him and we ran around the city till it was almost the dead of night. We took Austin’s car this time, since it was less noticeable. We got to the apartment complex, searching the area for video cameras and we found out that there was only one thankfully. The down side was it was up on a pole and neither of us could reach it, until Austin got an idea.

“Get up on my shoulders and see if you can find a way to turn it off or something.” Austin whispers and before I can say yes or no he gets down on his knees, scooping me up off the ground. I had to grab a hold of his head to steady myself so I couldn’t fall off of him. I reached out to the pole and saw that the camera had a reset button.

“Will a reset button work?” I asked softly.

“Yea that’ll be perfect.” He answered.

I pressed the tiny button watching the little red light go off for a second and then blink back on.

“Did it!” I cheered quietly.

Austin gently let me down and suddenly car lights hit us and I saw that it was a cop car coming towards us.

“Um, A-Austin we have a problem.” I stuttered.

He glanced in the direction of the police car and his eyes widened as he muttered, “Well shit.”

Suddenly Austin pulled me to him and when the vehicle began to pull up beside us Austin leaned down to press his lips to mine, shocking me so much I yelped against him. His mouth was even softer than I could have ever dreamed of and I could feel my toes curling from the kiss.

Slowly Austin pulled back from me murmuring, “Well he’s gone now.”

Oh so he had done that so we wouldn’t get caught, not because he really wanted to. On the ride back to my place I stayed silent and thoughtful. When I was finally dropped off I gave him a soft goodbye and dragged myself up to my door. I didn’t bother to shower or change my clothes, I just kicked off my flip flops and fell into my bed not knowing if I wanted to cry or scream. Thankfully twenty minutes later I crashed out.

***

The next morning I woke up and got in the shower to wake myself and clear my head. I did my morning routine and headed out to my car with the intent to go get some Starbucks when I saw a blue piece of paper under my windshield wiper that said, ‘I saw what you did last night. If you don’t want anyone to find out you have to do me a favor.’

The note gave an address and at the bottom it was signed, Darby.
