A Sight For Sore Eyes
You Had Me At Hello
Natalie:
I lay in the hospital bed. My eyes heavy and soar for some slightly odd reason. I hear voices. They sound very familiar to me but, I can’t make them out to a certain extent.
“Is she alright?”
“Yes she is, Mr. Carlile.”
“When will she be able to come out? I really want and need to know?.”
“Time will tell us and so will testing.”
“But Dr. Hudson, she’s been in that bed for the past week. And she is married women. Her husband, friends, and family need her.” Austin sighed, “I need her. She is my bestfriend.”
“Well, she’ll be out sometime this weekend or mid next week.”
Then, I heard a door close. I have no idea what they were talking about but, I know it must be serious.
Austin. The wedding. Tyler. Holy fuck. I forgot all about it.
I heard footsteps walking out and then a door closing. I hear Austin sigh once more then squeezed my hand. I squeezed it back. He gasped.
Austin:
I gasped somewhat loudly. "Nat?", I shake her and say her name softly. I see her struggling to open her eyes. I watch her struggle with tears slowly and silently streaming down my face. She finally opens her eyes. Oh, how I missed those blue eyes.I see her smile lightly looking at me. We squeeze each other hands.
"What happened, Aus?"
"Alexandria hit you in the head with the champagne bottle." Nat's mouth fell slightly open in a shocking manner.
"How long have I been in the hospital?"
"A week and then some," I put my hand on her face and brush my index finger slowly against her soft cheek, "We can't be like how we were in my house and stuff. I'm with Alexandria. We can still be friends but, I can't be sexual or flirtatious with you, no more."
I see a tear escape her eye. She turns her head towards the window and she instantly turn red from anger. Her tears turning into flames.
"Go. I don't ever want to see you again."
"You don't mean tha-"
"I do."
Tears streamed down my eyes. Burning all the way down. I walk to the door and slowly head out. I take one last look at this girl that I had loved more than myself. More than life itself. But when I saw her, she was just a ghost to me now.
And that was the last time I saw her.
Until, I saw her at my show.
One year later.
