The Monster That Is Me

Austin:





“Can I get a Bloody Mary?” I ask the bartender sitting down at the stool

He gave me a quizzical look “Dang man, that’s like you’re sixth one. You should be hammered by now.”

“Yeah, should be.” I chuckled gulping down the drink in a matter of seconds “I’ll be hammered after a while.”

That was a big fat lie. I don’t get drunk. Superhuman creatures can’t get drunk. Well, scratch that, superhuman creatures can get drunk. But only off of drinking to much fresh human blood. But even fresh human blood doesn’t get me drunk. Only one type of blood gets me drunk. And there’s only one type of blood that I’ve ever craved. And that’s vampire-human hybrid blood. But they’re pretty rare. Not as rare as a witch-vampire-werewolf hybrid, being that I’m the only one in the world, but they’re pretty darn rare.

“Austin, what’s up?” A voice called pulling me from me from my thoughts.

“Chris!” I smile at him “Sup man!” “What are you doing here?” He asks taking a sip from a bottle full of a red liquid. I didn’t need to ask him what he was drinking. I could smell it from a mile away. It’s blood.

“Same thing I’m guessing you’re doing.” I state shrugging my shoulders “I’m suppose to be hunting.”

“Suppose to be?” He looks over at me.

I sigh “It’s not that interesting so I’m having a hard time actually finding someone appetizing.”

“Really?” He chuckles lightly shaking his head. “Hybrids” he thought to himself

I frowned at him“I heard that!”

“Heard what?” He gave me a dumbfounded look “Shit, fucking fucker read my thoughts.”

“You’re the fucking fucker.” I reply

Chris wrapped his arms around his head “Stop…..stop invading my brain.” He playfully glared at me “That should totally be against the rules.”

“Against the rules….what’s the fun in that.” I smirked at him

Suddenly, what seemed like out of nowhere, a blonde haired girl with bright blue eyes sits on my lap “Hey sexy, you looking for a good time?”

“Actually, I am.” I grinned seductively at her. “How did you know?”

She shrugged her shoulders running her hand through my hair “Don’t know, just a feeling I had.”

“What’s your name sweetie?” I whispered kissing her hand

She blushed slightly “Hailey.”

“Hailey, that’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.” I said with a sexy smile. I knew I was charming the pants of her. I looked at Chris who was looking quite amused “Not bad hybrid, not bad.” He thought “I’m proud of you my boy.” I rolled my eyes at him before turning back to Hailey “I’m Austin, and It’s a pleasure to be in the presence of such beauty.”

“Oh my freaking God he’s so hot.” She said in her brain but didn’t dare to speak out loud “Thank you!” was all that came out of her youthful mouth.

“I’ll leave you two alone.” Chris smirked slipping out of his seat. “Hope you have a nice meal Austin.” He threw Hailey a wink, which in return she blushed ferociously, and then he walked out the bar.

“So shall we get out of here my lady?” I asked

She smiled lightly looking down before whispering “We shall……oh wait. I have to let my friends know that I’m leaving. They’ll be worried sick if I don’t.”

She darted of into the corner of the club where a couple of girls were gathered. Shit, I didn’t want her to be with friends. I wanted her to be a loner who nobody cared about. Someone who if they disappeared, nobody would care. I watched as Hailey smiled and pointed over at me. I could here what they’re saying from over here.

“Guys I’m leaving.” Hailey says

A redhead girl looks up at her “with?”

“That guy over there.” She squeals pointing at me. “He wants to take me away for a good time.”

All the girls laugh. Well almost all of them. One girl didn’t. In fact that one girl didn’t even crack a smile. She just glared at me the whole time. Eyeing me like a hawk eyeing her prey. She was making me nervous, and that in it self is saying a lot.

“Are you sure you want to leave with him?” She ask Hailey still staring craters into me

Hailey faced her friend “Of course I do Elina. Why you ask?”

“Don’t know.” She replies squinting her eyes. She gulps down the shot in front of her without a single cringe. She glanced at me before turning back to her friend “I just get this bad aurora radiating off of him.”

Rolling her eyes, Hailey flipped her long locks over her back “Elina stop worrying to much. I promise I’ll be just fine. I trust him. He…”

The Elina girl cut Hailey off “You trust him. Hailey for goodness sakes you just meet the guy. For all we know he could be some savage murderer. So how do you trust him?”

Haley shrugged my shoulders “I don’t know.”

“Well I do know….not a lot but..” She looked at me worriedly “I just know that his attentions aren’t gold.”

“I….I don’t know. I can’t explain it.” Hailey glanced at me furrowing her eyebrows “It’s just a feeling that gut feeling, and it’s telling me everything’s going to be alright.”

“Gut feeling.” I mumbled to my self looking down shamefully. I sighed sadly “so not a gut feeling.”

It wasn’t a ‘gut feeling’ Hailey was feeling. It was me. I was making her feel this way. That she was safe with me. That she could trust me. That she had nothing in the world to fear. When really she had everything to fear.

“Austin, I’m ready.” Hailey screeched startling me

I looked up into her clueless eyes “Are you sure?” I glanced behind her to see Elina staring at me “No more good byes or anything?”

“Nope, I’m ready to go and have fun.” She smiled dumbly

I stared at her friend who surprisingly stared back. I couldn’t take my gaze away from her. Her odd gray eyes stared right at me, almost like she was looking into my soul. Like she knew my attention, and she knew they weren’t good.

“Come on Ausy!” Hailey cooed pulling me towards the door “I’m ready to go.”

I tore my gaze away from Elina with a sigh. I walked out the door of the bar guilt building on top of my shoulders with each step I took. Why the fuck was Hailey so eager to leave? I asked myself…oh yeah, that’s right, because I charmed her into it. Fuck, I really hate doing this. I hate doing this so fucking much.

I glanced around and saw that I was deep into the woods. I turned to look at Hailey who was actually starting to look a little scared. Did the charm finally wear off?

“Austin.” She whispered glancing around at her surroundings “Why are we in the woods?”

“Shut up!” I growled stepping towards her

She took a timid step back “Austin, you’re starting to scare me.”

I closed my eyes. “Just shut up. It’ll be a whole lot easier if you just…..shut up!” I rumbled lowly

I grabbed her by the neck and slammed her roughly into the tree. My eyes flicked open and she screamed out in horror. “Elina was right.” She gasped “You are a savage murderer.”

“Yea, should’ve listened to your friend. Now stop screaming please my dear.”I looked into her eyes and she suddenly stops screaming but the look of terror never left her beautiful face.

Gently, I took the strands of her long blonde hair and pushed the behind her back. I placed one…two…three gentle kisses on her neck until I found the spot I was looking for. The vein that would allow me to drain her completely. Within seconds my fangs slid out my gums.

“I swear to God my attentions were gold.” I whisper before sinking my teeth into my five star meal.
