Chapter 48
-Austin’s POV-
I stayed the night at Scarlett’s. It was just me comforting her, and I was okay with that.
She got up I don’t even know how long ago and left for work. I keep tossing and turning trying to fight the sun that is coming in through her balcony door.
My phone rang and I knew it was time to finally open my eyes.
“Hello?” I said not even bothering to see who it was.
“She’s awake Austin! Where’s Scar I’ve been calling her and she won’t answer?” Alan said.
“Wait Brook is awake? Scar’s at work.” I said.
“Yeah I wanted you both to come” he said.
“I’ll come soon okay?”
“Alright” he said and we both hung up.
I locked Scarlett’s door with the key Erin had given me, I never got to tell Scar that.
Anyway I headed out of her apartment complex and headed to mine to grab a quick shower and clothes.
After that I was on my way to the hospital.
Alan should be in a better mood, but he sounded uneasy on the phone.
I tried calling Scar but there was no answer so I left her a text when I got in the parking lot of the hospital.
A: Hey baby, hope work is well. Alan’s been calling you. Brook woke up and I’m headed to see her and Alan. Text me. I love you. Xoxo.
I reached the door to Brook’s room when I noticed that her parents were there with Alan and I felt like I was intruding. Alan saw me and waved for me to come in.
“Well, well look who we have here, seems I really have lost track of time.” Brook said and laughed.
“Nice to see you too Brook” I said and laughed as well.
“Where’s Scar?” Alan asked.
“She must be engrossed in work. I haven’t heard from her either.” I said.
“Oh. These are Brook’s parents.” Alan awkwardly said as he gestured to them.
“Hi I’m Austin, nice to meet you both.” I said extending my hand to both of them.
“Nice meeting you” her mother said.
“Alan won’t tell me…please tell me you and Scar got back together?” Brook said eagerly.
“Brooklyn, quit trying to catch up on everything like that. You’re worst then the paparazzi.” Her father said. Everyone laughed.
“We did, but who knows.” I said and looked at Alan. Scar’s mood changed about us after she talked to him, this is his fault.
“AHHHH!” Brook excitedly screamed, “What do you mean ‘who knows’?”
“We are too use to going back and forth she’s scared, I’m scared, you know that whole ordeal.” I said. Alan stared to the ground, ah so he did say something to Scar, he looks so guilty.
“I will slap sense into both of you if you don’t stay together for good this time!” Brook said.
“Time will tell.” I said.
“Austin, I haven’t eaten yet, want to go for some food?” Alan asked.
“Okay, Ashby. We are in a civil enough place, so tell me what you said to Scarlett last night.” I said. We had just gotten food and decided to eat outside in the patio area of the hospital. We were alone, so this was my chance.
“I didn’t think it would upset her to the point where you’d be confronting me today about it.” He said.
“She cried majority of the night Alan.”
“Damn it. I told her that she shouldn’t get her hopes up to high with you. That she should be cautious. Because you’ll never let anyone in like you did before because of Gielle. I know tell me that I’m an asshole.”
Why the fuck would he say that to her? I bit in my sandwich and focused on chewing it and properly swallowing it down my throat. I’m gonna fucking kill Alan for putting that into her head.
“Yeah Alan, you’re right, you are an asshole.” I said.
“If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t even be here right now so shut up okay?” he said.
“I would’ve came back for her eventually Alan.”
My phone buzzed that I had a text:
From: Scarlett Harris
Ahhhh, Erin and I are swamped I cant make it there today and I’m already exhausted. Tell Alan and Brook that I will see them both soon. I’m just gonna crash when I get home. You’re welcome to come over and cuddle me though :)
A: No problem they’ll understand. Let me know when I can come cuddle you! Xo
S: I will baby xoxo
“Is Scar okay?” Alan said.
“Yeah, how’d you know it was her?”
“You’re dumbass smile on your face.”
I laughed, “Oh, well Scar said she’s busy but that she will see you both soon.”
I decided to surprise Scar with dinner. I texted Erin and she said she would let me know when Scar leaves. I still had Scar’s spare house key so I was free to enter and use her kitchen.
Time to see if I can actually make a decent meal that Scar will like.
