The Calm
Chapter 14
-Austin’s POV-
Another day where I haven’t heard from Scarlett and all, she really lets her work consume her. I’m a good one to talk because I’ve been in the studio since 7AM and it’s now 8:30PM. Aaron and I are beat, but we have to make sure that Phil and Alan get all the guitar parts right and that we agree on them. It was a Friday night and we really wanted to go out and drink. I received a text from Tony. The crazy ass Mexicans were having another party and had invited Scarlett and I. I replied back that I couldn’t get ahold of Scarlett once again and to have Erin text her, but that I’d be there. Tony said that Erin, Alysha, and himself were going to go to her condo and just drag her out.
-Tony’s POV-
Once again no one could get ahold of Scarlett, so Erin and I thought it would be best just to show up at her place and drag her out of there. Alysha felt like tagging along because apparently Mike was being a dick.
We arrived at Scarlett’s and knocked on her door, waited and there was no answer.
“I’m using my key” Erin said.
She opened the door and went in as Alysha followed her, then I did.
“Oh my gosh!...Scarlett!...Scarlett are you here!” Erin started yelling.
“Holy shit” Alysha said.
Then I saw why they were freaking out.
There was blood all over the floor and it was dried. Erin took off to her bedroom and Alysha and I just stood there stunned.
Something bad had happened to Scarlett, that’s why she wasn’t answering.
“Her phone and everything is still here. Someone took her! Oh Tony what if they murdered her and dragged the body out! Tony what if she’s dead!”
I pulled Erin into my arms as she cried, I tried to calm her but it was no use.
“I’m calling the police” Alysha said.
“I should call the guys and tell them that the party is off…” I said and Erin looked at me I kissed her forehead and went off to Scar’s balcony to call Vic.
He picked up fast surprisingly.
“Hey man! People are here! This party is going to be so great!” He said.
“Vic, we have to cancel it okay.” I said.
“What why?” he asked, thank goodness he took me seriously.
“Something’s happened man, with Scarlett…” I trailed off.
“What do you mean? Dude Austin’s here…”
“Don’t tell him anything we called the police, but Vic we are at her condo, all her stuff is here, and there’s a giant puddle of dried blood on the floor…”
“Parker?” Vic asked as quietly as he could.
“But why?” I asked back.
-Austin’s POV-
I was at Tony’s house with the guys and everyone else. I couldn’t wait to see Scarlett tonight. Then I saw that Vic was on the phone, he went from excited to worry in about 30 seconds. I slowly moved my way closer. The only thing I heard was “Parker”, was Vic on the phone with Scar’s ex?
Vic got off of the phone and walked outside. Then minutes later he came back with Mike.
“Unfortunately this party is cancelled guys, sorry!” Mike announced.
What the hell was going on? Alan and I looked at each other, then I noticed Vic starting to disappear and I ran after him, he knew something that I had to know.
“Vic!” I said as he tried to disappear. He turned around and looked at me with panic in his eyes.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“It’s Scarlett, Austin…” He said.
What did he mean? “What about her?” I asked.
“Tony and them went to her place, she’s not there…there’s blood Austin…”
“Blood? What the hell Fuentes! What’s going on!” I yelled, now pinning him up against the wall.
Mike, Tino, and Alan tried to pull me off of him but there was no use.
“The police are there, they are going to find her okay?” he said, trying to reassure me.
“What do you mean there’s blood? Did she cut herself? Did someone hurt her!” I yelled, getting more upset.
“…There’s a dried pool of blood Austin…” he said.
“Maybe it isn’t hers? How do you know it’s hers?”
“Her stuff is all there Austin, her phone, wallet, etc…”
I dropped him to the ground and tried to get out to get to her condo, I was 2 hours away and not having it. Of course, Tino, Alan, and Mike grabbed me.
“Let me go!” I yelled.
“You’re too upset to drive and 2 hours away Austin. If anything happens you’ll know first okay, you need to calm down!” Alan said.
“Someone hurt her! She’s in trouble, I need to be closer okay!” I said, if someone had hurt my Scarlett, they were going to pay.
“Alysha’s there…she just texted me and said that they reviewed the security cameras…Parker was there.” Mike said.
“Was Scar with him?” Tino asked.
“He left with a giant bag…” Mike said.
He murdered her; he killed her, Scarlett, and the girl I’m falling for. The girl fate brought back to me. I punched the wall, leaving a hole in the drywall.
The next day I was back at my house, with the guys watching me so that I wouldn’t do something crazy. They were searching for her and Parker. I’ve never been so scared in my life. Scarlett means so much to me, and there are things I haven’t got to tell her yet that I want to. I need her in my life; she has become the reason I breathe. Since that day I saw her, I just knew that she was my life source and she would hold me together.
Tony got the call, from Erin, Scarlett was in the hospital and alive.
It was like I couldn’t get there to her fast enough. The car ride was painfully slow. Erin was with her, so thankfully we knew what floor and room to head to.
The elevator ride to her room was slow; I felt that I was in such a daze.
Finally we arrived at her room and the guys let me walk in first. I saw her poor fragile self-lying in a bed with tubes out of her arms, bruises on her precious face, and she looked weak, but she was awake.
“Scar” I said as I rushed over to her side.
“Aus” she said with a slight smile.
I turned to Erin, “What happened?”
“He tried to kill her. Thankfully he didn’t have the guts to go through with it so he kept stalling. She lost a lot of blood, but she’ll be okay.” Erin said, trying to sound optimistic.
“I should’ve told you all, I’ve lied to you all.” Scarlett choked out, what was she talking about I wondered.
“Scar, you had no idea he would do this.” Tony said.
“Yes, I knew he would come for me, especially after what I did to his brother…” she trailed off and we all looked at each other puzzled.
“What?” Erin said.
Tony looked at her, I looked at Alan and Aaron…what was Scarlett talking about?
“I never told anyone…I figured that no one would accept me and that they would think I’m some crazy murderer, at least that’s what Parker wanted it to appear like.” She murdered someone? What?
“Scarlett, you’ve had a long night, it’s the meds talking.” Aaron said, he too was trying to avoid the truth in what she was saying.
“No listen to me! When I was sixteen Parker and I were together, obviously. I had just gotten my license and we went out for a drive with his brother, Eli. I decided to take a different road back home; because it was faster…and…there was a drunk driver in…the other lane…he came and completely totaled the passenger side of the car. I blame that for how Parker got so messed up in the head. Eli was in the back seat on that side, but he didn’t have a seatbelt on. He was killed on impact. I came out with scratches and bruises, and a 6-month stay in a mental hospital. Parker’s shoulder was messed up, and he had broken ribs. Parker blamed me for taking that road, saying that if I didn’t go that way, Eli would still be alive. He abused me after he got better, mentally he would tell me how I was such a horrible person and that I needed to be put away for killing his brother. He would beat me then tell me that he loved me. Finally he convinced his parents that I needed mental help, he wanted them to shock my brain away, they listened and informed my aunt and she placed me in a mental institution. With everything that had happened, I was there for six months. My parents died in a car crash when I was 5, because of a drunk driver, and I just felt that the world was enclosing on me. I stayed with Parker for so long because after I got out, he changed, he was sweet and caring, the guy I knew before the accident. Deep down, I knew he wanted me to pay for what happened; I think that he just got close to me to shred me apart. I’m a mess you guys, I feel like a terrible person for never telling anyone, but Parker said he would have me committed again and I was scared.”
She ended with tears in her eyes, and I wiped them away as they fell down her bruised cheek. I was stunned that this was what had happened to my Scarlett.
“We are here for you Scarlett. That doesn’t matter, it was in the past, and Parker is out of your life for good now okay? You don’t have to be afraid anymore you have Tony and I, the rest of Pierce, Austin and his band. Scar we love you so much.” Erin said.
“I’m so fucked up though” Scarlett said and began to cry even more.
“We all are Scar, we all are” Alan said.
