Acting Like A Guy

Today I'm walking to my local Starbucks to edit some photos from earlier in the week. I'm on pick up duty for my younger siblings because my mom is stuck at work, Alex is at work and the two kids can't drive. I have to watch them till like 9 so they can pick what they want to do.

I ordered my plain black coffee then sat at a free table. I opened up my laptop and plugged my camera in; the pictures are from a resent photo shoot for a clothing brand called Glamour Kills. I like their clothes, there nice and comfy. I took pictures of their upcoming spring collection and its dead line is February so like a week.

I got to my siblings school just for the bell ringing, I did forget a little and get lost in editing the photos but I made it. I rolled up the windows; I only rolled them down to smoke so up they went. Alisa was the first one out of school, she looked about for my car and when she noticed it ran over.

“Ali, Are you babysitting us?” she asked jumping in the passenger seat and hugging me. “Please say yes, Alex sucks when he watches us. You buy us pizza”

“Yeah I watching you guys, anyway I have some news I need to tell you guys tonight” I turned when the back seat door opened and Ace jumped in.

“Thank god it’s you, I really want pizza for dinner” he said shutting the door and putting the seat belt on.

“Hey to you too” I added starting my car and setting off to my old house. “So, any plans for tonight or are we just winging it?” I asked as Alisa put a CD in the player.

“Pizza” Ace yelled putting his feet up on the seats next to him. “Get me pizza and I’ll do whatever you want” he mumbled getting his phone out his pocket.

“Okay then” I said making a face at Alisa. “What do you want to do?” I asked bobbing my head to the un-known band playing out the speakers.

“Can we go see Frozen? Everyone’s saw it but me and it looks super good” she pleaded giving me the puppy eyes with her sharp green eyes similar to mine.

“Sure doll-face, movie night sounds good” I drove into the drive and cut the engine of my car. “You two get ready, we’ll go for pizza, I’ll tell you my news then we can go to the movies” I grabbed my purse and got out the car.

“Sounds good” Ace unlocked the door and both the kids went straight off to their rooms to get ready. I was the cooler sibling, Alex is the one who lives by mom’s rules and makes the kids eat stupid meals.

I dropped my purse, took my beanie off and went to the kitchen to get a soda. This house never changes, it’s always clean and everything always stays the same. In my apartment we play drinking games and the drunkest person has to clean the apartment, so everything always gets broken but it’s fun.

“I’m ready” Ace appeared wearing basically the same outfit, I shrugged and gave him a soda from the fridge. “When did you cut your hair?” he asked because my beanie wasn’t on my head.

“Like a week ago or something, it ties in with my news” I sipped some of the soda and Ace looked weird. “What?”

“You’re not a lesbian, right?” I snorted on my soda then started laughing. “Sorry, I was scared that that’s what is was”

“Nah, I’m not a lesbian. Alex would be a lesbian before me” he shook his head with laughter and Alisa ran in the room dressed in a pretty outfit. She dresses in normal clothes for school but at home all she wears is dresses, she is such a girly girl.

“Let’s go” she smiled drinking some of my soda. I grabbed everything I needed and we went back to my car. The journey was pretty boring, my siblings argued about the best pizza topping. It doesn’t matter because I get them their own pizza’s because they never agree. Me and Alex like just cheese because we’re vegetarian so we agree but the like meat and shit.

I parked outside our usual pizza shop JOE’S and my siblings ran in ahead of me. I put my laptop in the trunk and then went into the restaurant. Anna, one of my friends had already sat the kids down at a table and took their order. She knows what I order because it hasn’t changed since the first time I came in here.

“Hey” I smiled hugging Anna. She is one of my closer friends that I’ve known since elementary school, I’ve know the majority of my friends since elementary school.

“Hey sweet cheeks, Josh told me your news congrats. Plus the hair suit’s you” She hugged me again before going off to the kitchens. I’m going to strangle Josh in his sleep tonight, he’s been telling everyone before I can.

“Tell us your news now” Alisa droned, everyone probably knew before I told them too. I had called my mom when I got then news but told her I’d tell these too.

“Okay so I got my hair cut for a reason. The reason is for my new job” I stopped to thank Anna who had brought our drinks over. “I’m pretending to be Alex so I can tour with this band taking pictures of them” Ace looked so confused and Alisa was trying to figure it out.

“Why can’t you do it being Ali?”

“Because I’m a girl, no band wants to take on a hormonal woman who nags 24/7-"

“You realise you just described Alex, not you” Alisa interrupted with a chuckle.

“Yeah well that what woman are categorized as so I’m doing this to prove a point that anything a man can do so can a woman” I sipped some of my water while both my sibling applauded me. “What?”

“You’re standing up for woman rights, I’m so proud” Alisa squealed, running over and hugged me tight.

“You’re so cool” Ace mumbled as our three pizzas got placed down by a different waiter. I thanked him then shoved a slice in my mouth. “And believably a man”

After the pizza and movie I took them home and Mom was back. She gave me into trouble for giving them junk food and taking them to a movie but later on went on to say how proud she was of me, standing up for myself. Then she cried about how she was scared that I’d get knocked up by one of the band members and he’d leave me on my own with a baby. Seriously, this woman is a clinical psychopath some times but I love her.

I stayed for a bit after that and she then told me about this new guy she’s be somewhat dating, I’m proud that she’s finally moving on from my asshole dad. His name is Robert and he makes her happy, he had a grown up daughter who has a baby and moms met both of them, plus the girl’s husband. Robert has met Ace and Alisa when they went for dinner but that was a Friday night and Friday nights are party nights for me and Alex.

When I left my moms, I felt like life was coming along for everyone. I’ve gotten this job, Alex is doing the job he loves, moms go a new man and the kids seem happy. I guess nothing will happen while I’m gone.
