Space Enough To Grow
Breaking free
Austin POV
It was weird seeing my room all empty but all the memories will remain. Paint on the walls was fading away and I could see the lines from where the drawers and the closet used to be. And here I was, packing my last suitcase and leaving soon.
Me and dad decided it was time to leave Seattle. We were talking about it often, but then finally the opportunity showed up, when my dad was offered a manager position in Los Angeles. He consulted me and we came to an agreement that he should take it, we both needed and deserved this.
My mom died when I was 14. I can't believe it's already been more than 3 years. I still felt her presence and I was dreaming about her constantly. I missed her so fucking much, every day.
Things were harder on dad, he lost half of him when she died. But at least he said goodbye to her and told her he loves her. I couldn't, because I was at school and got there too late. I will never forgive myself.
I was looking forward to this. New school, new environment, new placeā¦ I think it will help us both and enable a happier life. We will always remember her in all her beauty and kindness.
''We all set?'' dad asked while I was putting my suitcase in the trunk. The rest will be transported with moving service.
''Yep, this is the last one. We're really doing this.'' I closed the trunk and smiled at him. ''All set, you ready?'' I asked him.
''Absolutely. Let's go.'' He said and smiled back. There was nothing better than seeing him smile and actually look forward to his new life. It was heartbreaking watching him all torn up after her death. It took him over a year to fully adjust that she was gone.
We got into the car and drove off. I felt tingling in my palms. LA, bring it on.
