Heaven Is A Place On Earth With You

He Never Ever Saw It, Coming At All

Austin trailed behind her, shaking as the desperation of the situation set in.
"Ro, please," he begged, his voice cracking as tears pricked his eyes, "Don't do this, baby. We can work things out."
Rose slipped her eyes shut and clenched her teeth, shaking her head and continuing to walk forward, "I can't do this anymore Austin."
"Rose, please."
She shook her head again and opened the door to their bedroom, where she began to slam drawers open and throw things in the bag that she had left waiting on the bed.
"Austin, no. I can't do this. I can't wait months of you leaving, with just a few phone calls to hold me over then have you come home and be excessively clingy," she sighed throwing her t-shirts in the bag, "I can't be apart of a love bipolar anymore."
"But you went on the last few tours with us," he said quickly, "And, um, we can get married! Rose, will you marry me?"
"And tours are hell for me because I feel like I'm being used," she said, "But what would getting married do for us? Nothing. I can't marry you Austin."
He could feel frustration boiling in his gut and raked a hand through his hair.
"Alright, fine," he snapped, "What the fuck can I do to make you stay?"
"You can sit the fuck down and let me fucking leave, because I'm not fucking staying," she yelled, then coursed a hand through her long blonde hair, muttering, "God, I'm so done."
"Where are you staying?"
"I have a place."
"Oh my God," Austin scoffed, "There's someone else."
Rose remained silent, shaking her head before continuing to throw her possessions in the sleek leather duffel bag. Anger was washing over her in waves, and her hands were shaking. All she could do was wonder was why he couldn't just leave her the fuck alone to pack.
When Austin realized she wasn't going to say a word, his anger boiled over and he turned around, his fist flying through the air and making contact with the wall, sending a chunk of drywall flying through the air.
"What the fuck, Austin?" Rose screamed.
"Goddammit, Rose. Who the hell is the bastard?" He yelled, his booming voice practically shaking the house.
"No one, okay?"
"Rose, you're fucking leaving me. I at least have a right to know who the fuck for."
"A guy I met at a bar a couple weeks ago," she replied, her tone finally beginning to even out, "His name is Evan. He's... Everything your not."
The comment stunned Austin into silence. This was the girl that just a few weeks ago was introducing him to her friends as "the guy I'm gonna marry". The girl that he had managed to fall completely and totally in love with.
Austin felt the defeat set in, and figured he should busy himself with something else since the battle was obviously too late to be won. He wandered to the kitchen, fighting the urge to cry and began to make some lemonade. Ten minutes later, Rose walked in the kitchen.
"Austin," she said, lingering in the doorframe, "I'm... I'm sorry. Okay? I truly did care about you, and I still do. That's why I'm leaving."
Austin didn't respond and a couple minutes later, he heard the front door click closed.

Alan let out a loud whoop and burst into a fit of laughter as the girl sitting next to him had finally gotten drunk enough to brave the dance floor. She simply rolled her eyes and stood up, screaming over and over again, "I'm gonna do it!"
"I am too!" Alan finally decided, and followed her to the center of the room, where they began to drunkenly fumble around, both laughing at absolutely everything.
"You suck at dancing," Alan told the girl with a million dollar smile.
"So do you," she giggled, swaying he hips more dramatically, "I'm Tara, by the way."
"Alan," the red-head replied with a smile.
They continued to subtly move in the midst of the sweaty, grinding bodies around them, every so often finding themselves in a fit of laughter as one of them pulled out some pre-eighties dance move.
"Do you wanna, like-" Alan's sentence was cut off by his phone ringing, he pulled it out and Austin Mothafuckin' Carlile flashed on the screen, "Shit. Sorry, Tar. I gotta take this, it's my best friend."
The bottle blonde's face turned to disgust and she rolled her eyes walked away.
"Hey, Aus!" Alan yelled over the music, "I'm at this new bar that you and Ro gotta come check out!"
"Rose left me," Austin replied, "Can you like, go somewhere quiet?"
Alan headed toward a door in the back that said Not An Exit. He opened the door and found himself outside, laughing about the fact that it was in fact, an exit.
"What are you laughing at?" Austin asked.
"I went through a door that said 'Not An Exit' and I'm outside," he said, chuckling even harder.
"Really, Al?"
Alan's laughter finally subsided, "Hell yea! Anyway, what's up baby?"
"Did you not fucking hear me? Rose just fucking walked the fuck out on me."
"Shit," Alan hissed, "God. I'm sorry Austin. I'll be right over."
"Stay where you are. Dealing with you while you're drunk's the last thing I need," He snapped back, and the line went dead, causing Alan to sigh and rub a hand down his face. He looked at his phone, made a split decision and dialed his other fellow bandmate.
"How shit-faced are you and where am I picking you up?" Tino sighed upon answering.
"Very. You're not," Alan replied, "Go check on Austin. Rose fucking left him and he's a mess. I'm too drunk to be of help."
Tino hesitated, and Alan could hear his breathing, "Uh, yea. Sure. God, I knew that bitch was no good."
Alan nodded, then realized Tino couldn't see him, "Don't say that to him."
The other man exhaled, "All right. Bye, Al."
The line went dead again, and Alan sighed, walking back in.

Knock, knock, knock
Austin looked over at the door, his heart skipping a beat as he thought there was even a fraction of a possibility that Ro might be standing on the other side of it. He stood up, the affects of the bottle of JD he had mostly downed taking a toll on him.
He headed toward the door, setting the bottle down on his coffee table and finally reaching for the handle. He turned it and pulled the piece of wood open, revealing Tino.
"Hey, buddy!" The bearded man smiled, "How're you?"
Austin's heart dropped and he sighed, "M'fine. Tell Alan I want to be left alone."
Tino started waving his hand in front of his scrunched up nose, "Jesus, Austin! How much fucking whiskey have you drank?"
Austin shook his head and went to shut the door, causing Tino to shove past him into the apartment.
"Dude, get the fuck out!" Austin boomed. Tino swore the walls rattled. He shook his head, entering the kitchen. Upon inspecting the room he swore under his breath. There were broken plates everywhere, the dog and cat bowls were empty-no food or water- and there was dog pee on the floor. He left the kitchen and headed down the hall, to the back bedroom where he choked up a little. The drawers were all opened and things were strewn on the ground, and there was even a hole in the wall, the chunks of drywall on the ground near the hole. Finally, he left the room,
"Austin this place is a mess. What the hell have you been doing all day? And by God, what is that giant fucking hole in your wall? Please tell me you didn't try to hit Ro."
Austin walked over to the table, once again picking up the bottle of Jack Daniels. He put the top to his mouth and took a long drink, then rolled his eyes, "Why the fuck would I hit the love of my life?"
Tino rubbed a hand down his face, "God. Okay, no. You're not pulling this shit again. You said that about Gi, she left and two weeks later, you were fine, because you had Rose. Grow up, Aus. You're an attractive guy, you'll find someone new."
Austin shook his head again, "No. I want Rose."
Tino sighed, walking forward and grabbing the bottle from his friend's hands. He walked to the kitchen and poured the remainder down the sink, despite Austin's protests.
"Come on, dude. Let's just hang here. We'll order a pizza, I'll have Shay go grab some Mountain Dew, invite Phil and Alan over, and we'll have a dudes night."
Austin sat on the couch, staring blankly at the wall, "Yea. Yea, T. That sounds great."
