Innocence is just a lie.

True to my word I was practically his slave, refusing to let him do anything that could potentially open his scars or possibly make him feel worse.
I tried my hardest and it was all working well until my auntie decided to visit-claiming she 'wanted to see my mum, and that she 'had no idea she was away'.

My auntie, Vivian, just so happened to be the least accepting snob I had ever had the misfortune of meeting.
Although we only had the pleasure of spending a weekend with her she somehow managed to completely destroy all of the progress-thus sending us both back to square one.
Silence ringing throughout the house, the only noise being aunt Viv's ranting about Kellin's tattoos and longish hair.

Not that it was any of her business.

"So, how do you plan on making something of yourself with tattoos like that?" She squinted, turning her nose up slightly, he shrunk in his seat-his shoulders slouching slightly as his eye brows furrowed.
"I happen to like his tattoos and Kellin already has a job" I stated, trying to be a polite as humanly possible in the presence of the wicked witch of the west.
It's a wonder how her and my mother are sisters.
"And he's in a band" I continued, seeing a small hint of a smile tug at the corners of his mouth whereas my auntie simply shrugged it off and continued to judge him.

Kellin remained silent throughout her whole rant.

The smile disappearing as he slumped further in his seat, eyes staring down at the patterns in the carpet as we sat in the living room.
"How about a film then yeah?" I grasped Kellin's hand, giving it a tight squeeze before getting up to slip a dvd into the dvd player- Hunger Games.
As aunt Viv had never seen it before, it was the only thing to silence her during her stay.
