Prologue
"Don't worry, Mikey, we'll be back before you know it! It's only a couple of weeks."
"I know, Issy, but... What am I gonna do without you guys? We do everything together! Now, you and Geremy are married. I'm the third wheel..."
"You haven't been a third wheel this far. Nothing has changed, except for my last name, and a new ring on my finger."
"You're the best friend I've ever had."
"And you're the best maid of honor I'll ever have. I love you, little girl."
"I love you too."

"I'm sorry, miss Brier, your friends have been in a terrible car accident." The voice on the other end of my call said. I could hear the sirens of police cars and ambulances in the background.
"What?! Are they okay?! Oh, God, please, tell me they're okay." I couldn't stop crying.
"Mr. Tate has been rushed into the Emergency Room as we speak..." His voice lacked confidence, almost hesitant. "It's doubtful that he'll survive by the time he reaches intensive care."
"And his wife? What about Issy?!" I was frantic, shaking violently, trying to keep my voice steady.
"She died upon impact. I am so sorry, for your loss."
I dropped my phone, and ran for my keys, and out the door. I had to get to the hospital, I had to be there for Geremy. This was not happening, not on my birthday, not on their Honeymoon.

"Please, Geremy..... Please wake up..." I didn't let go of my best friend's hand. He needed me, I needed him to stay with me. "I can't do this without you, not with her gone..."
His heart monitor kept beeping, like it had for the last day or so. I was exhausted, I didn't even know what day it was anymore. I hadn't left his bedside since that phone call. Issy was already gone, and her husband was lying here, in a coma. I couldn't handle this.
The heart monitor slowed down with each passing minute. I barely noticed until it was a straight beep. His heart stopped.
"Geremy? Geremy?! No!"
It was too late by the time the nurses had gotten there. I was forced out of his room and into the main room. One of the nurses held me back as I cried and screamed, going frantic. She tried to calm me down, but knew it would be a long shot.
I used the payphone to call my sister, Milly. It took a couple of tries, but I finally reached her, her voice groggy from me waking her.
"Hello?"
"Milly, it's Mikey..." I was trying to hold back my tears.
"Mike? What's going on? .... It's three o'clock in the morning."
"Mills.... Geremy and Issy are dead."

I woke up, crying, as usual. I looked at the clock on my night stand, 2:27 AM. Seriously? I was never going to sleep though a night ever again, was I?
I lay in my bed, staring up at my ceiling, for what seemed like hours. I looked back at the clock, 2:33 AM. I sighed and rolled over to look at my My Chemical Romance poster next to the window, picked up my iPhone, and clicked on my "When You Can't Sleep At Night" playlist. As soon as I clicked PLAY, "Saviour" by Black Veil Brides started playing, and I was falling fast asleep, thankfully. I did not want to go into work with bags under my eyes...

So, this is my first fanfiction. I'm really excited , and torn up, about writing this. Sorry this chapter is so short, but it is a prologue.
My characters are sort of based off of real people. This story, or at least Mikey's backstory, is my own. The memories are my memories. It's really hard to write. I'm still battling my depression, but I have been clean from self harming now for over 3 months, and I don't touch alcohol very often. I'm getting better.
