Forgive Me- Part 1

Meetings

Amelia's POV

I cleared my plate from this morning into the bin and rinsed it before putting it in the dish washer. I smile. Jaime is very good at cooking breakfast. I go to sit on the couch to wait for him and look towards my bedroom door where he has gone to charge his phone and sigh. Once he calls them he will have to leave. I don't want him to go, I feel so comfortable around him. I can actually be myself around him and I've never felt like that around anyone. Not even Isaac, actually, especially not Isaac. Isaac doesn't even really know anything about me. Yea he knows the simple stuff like my birthday and favourite colour. But he doesn't know ME, and honestly, I feel that even in this short period of time, Jaime has gotten to know me better than Isaac has in almost a year. Just my luck, I finally find someone who I can actually be around without stressing and he's a bloody American who is leaving in probably an hour or so.

"I'm sorry! My phone died and the charger was on the bus!" I hear Jaime say into the phone. "I got one as soon as I could- the stores were closed before I got there- no I was not fucking some whore- she picked me up when it was pissing down rain, and let me stay at her house until I could contact you!- Don't you fucking dare call her a whore!- Okay. Whatever" he stopped talking and after a minute walked out with my phone in his hand.

"You have a missed call from Isaac." He said.

"Screw him. Are you alright? That didn't sound too good"

"I'm fine, is it alright if I gave one of my friends your address?"

"Yea of course!" I gave him the address which he then texted his friend.

"Hey Amelia?" I look up to him "Thanks again for letting me stay here"

"It's no trouble" I said sadly.

"Hey what's wrong?"

"Nothing" I smile up at him

"You can't fool me with a fake smile Amelia. What's up?"

"That. You can tell it's fake"

"Is that a bad thing?"

"No, it's just that you're the only person who's been able to do that and now you're leaving" I look into my lap in embarrassment. I can't believe I just said that. I have probably just majorly creeped him out...

"Oh" He knelt in front of me and lifted my chin forcing me to look at him. "I'll always be here you know, not physically obviously, but you can call me whenever you want."

"It's not the same though"

"I know, but hey, next time I'm in Australia I'll drop by okay?"

"How often are you in Australia?"

"Once every two years or so, sometimes more."

"Really? That's a lot, how come?"

He hesitated for a moment before answering "oh, I just come down with the guys I'm with now, we love it here"

"Oh okay" I trail off. He pulled me into a hug

"I know it's not often, but I promise I'll come visit you as often as I can"

I nod and bury my face in his chest and wrap my arms around him. I don't want to let go. He pulls away and looks me in the eye.

"Plus, it's not like I want to leave you here either..."

Before I knew it his lips were on mine and all the sadness and worry I had been feeling was immediately forgotten. Everything was him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and twined my fingers through his hair. The kiss continued for a minute before he pulled away with a smirk. "I didn't think you'd kiss me back"

"Why would you think that?"

"Isaac..." He mumbled rubbing the back of his neck. All calmness created by the kiss vanished and was replaced with shock and guilt. Jaime must have seen this because he quickly wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest.

"It's okay. Don't worry, it was just a kiss, you don't need to worry about it. Pretend it didn't happen." You could tell that it hurt him to say that and knowing that made me feel even guiltier. I didn't want to hurt him.

"No, I don't want to pretend it didn't happen, it's just, now I'm as bad as Michael..."

"No! God no! It was one kiss. You. Are. Not. Michael." I looked up into his eyes. To my relief, the pain in them was gone; it was however replaced with worry. I smile at him to ease his worry.

"What time is your friend getting here?" I asked, changing the subject.

"He said he was leaving and that his phone said he would take about twenty minutes. But that was like ten minutes ago and he speeds so... Probably any minute now"

I jump off the couch making Jaime jump in the process.

"What are you doing?"

"Tidying up a bit before he gets here" I said as I picked up and folded a blanket that had fallen off the couch.

"Honestly, there is no reason to do that. This place is spotless compared to our bus"

"Yea but that's a bus, with a group of guys living on it. It's bound to be messy"

He grabbed my hand and pull me back over to the couch.

"Sit!" He said as he pushed me back gently into the couch "calm down, trust me, I know him, he wouldn't judge you if you house was a pig sty, and it's clean. So you have nothing to worry about."

"Fine!"

"Good, I'm just gonna check my phone again to see if he's said anything"

He walked back to my room and I hear him call that he should be there soon. And almost as if on cue, there was a knock at the door.

"Jaime? I think he's here" I called.

"Oh cool, I'll be out in a second" I wait. "Are you going to let him in?" He called again.

"But... I don't know him, and what if it's someone else? And I'll have to make conversation with him!"

"Go look through you peek hole and tell me what he looks like"

I walk to the door and look through the hole.

"He's tall with long brown hair, he's got a dermal piercing under his left eye? And an owl tattoo on his neck"

"Yep, that's him, let him in"

"But it will be awkward because I don't know him and I don't know how to make conversation"

"Well now you can learn"

I glare at the direction of my room before sighing and walking to the door.

"Hey! Sorry about the wait, come in!"

"That's okay, umm, is Jaime here?" He smiled shyly as he followed me into the lounge.

"I'll be out in a second" I hear Jaime say

I laugh slightly before speaking. "I'm just grabbing a drink, would you like one?"

"Um, if you have a coke that would be good"

I nod and walk to the fridge, happy to have something to do other than converse. I walk back to him and handed him the can before sitting on the couch, where after a moment’s hesitation he joined me. We sat there in a comfortable silence for a while. Both of us content with the lack of speech before Jaime came out and looked at us and sighed.

"You guys are hopeless" he said as he put his hands on his hips and shook his head at us. Uh-oh.
