Forgive Me- Part 1

Interaction

Jaime's POV

Once again, we made our way into the city, this time into the mall, or as Amelia calls is the 'plaza'. It wasn't as big as the ones back in America but it seemed to fit perfectly. There are a lot of really weird statues though...

"What even is this?" I asked pointing to a statue of a sheep sitting in a chair.

"Don't even ask... The amount of random, crappy, unexplainable art in Canberra is ridiculous" she grabbed my hand and pulled me past a giant triangular fountain and into the mall. "Okay this way!"

"In a rush are we?" I asked as she walked at a brisk pace.

"No, it's nothing..." She looked down as she spoke and I pulled her to a stop.

"What's up?"

"Nothing" she tugged on my arm to try and get us going again but I refuse to budge, there is obviously something bothering her and I'm not moving until she tells me.

"It's just... There's so many people today..." I look around. Yea there are some people but not heaps. Yet here she is, near hyperventilating, grasping onto my hand for dear life as if there were millions of people.

"Hey, hey. You're okay, okay? I'm here! I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you okay, nothing's gonna happen. I'm here!" I pull her into my chest and she soon relaxed into my arms and her breathing calmed. "There you go. Now, let's go get a charger, a coffee from that shop we went to yesterday and head back. How does that sound?" She looked up from my chest and into my eyes and smiled.

"That sounds perfect"

I pull away and take her hand and motioned for her to take the lead. She giggled and continued forward. The second I paid for the charger I got Amelia out of the mall. Even though she was a lot calmer I could tell that she was uncomfortable being around people. I led the way to the coffee shop we went to yesterday, the entire time with her hand in mine. I never wanted to let go. I felt so protective over her and I never want to see her as scared as she was today. My grasp on her hand tightened and she looked up at me in confusion. I smiled at her reassuringly and she just laughed and shook her head. She's a gorgeous woman.

We entered the coffee shop and I noticed that it was the same guy who was working yesterday as well.

"Hello again!" I said cheerfully as we entered.

"Oh hey! Same as yesterday?"

"You can remember?"

"Ha-ha, sadly yes"

I looked down at Amelia to see her tugging at the hem of her shirt and looking at the ground.

"Yea that would be great!" I said to the man. "Hey, why don't you go sit down and I'll bring it over when it's ready" I whispered to her. She nodded and took my bag off me before going to sit in the back corner.

"It's nice to see her with someone. Especially talking the way you were yesterday." The man behind the counter said.

"What do you mean?"

"She comes in here almost every day, gets a caramel latte and sits in that corner and reads, no matter how many times the other workers, customers or I try to engage her in conversation she backs down, like a turtle retreating into its shell..."

"Really? Never?"

"Nope. She's gorgeous, but she's too shy to let anyone show her"

"Yea I can agree to that" he passed over the coffees and cake but as I went to hand him the money he refused to accept it. "No, after everything everyone has tried to make her happy, having someone who does is more than enough payment" I smiled and thanked him before carrying everything over to the table.

"He is a very nice guy" I said as I sorted out who's was who's.

"Who Peter? Yea I've talked to him a few times"

"Oh really? You talked to him?"

"Okay well he talked to me while I smiled and listened"

"Yea that's what I thought" I took a sip of my coffee and smiled. It really is amazing coffee.

After we had finished eating and drinking Amelia stood up.

"Okay, no time for sitting and chatting, your friends are probably having heart attacks by now. Let's go get your phone charged shall we?"

I smiled and took her hand as we left the shop. Waving at Peter as we left. We arrived at her apartment and she went to clean up the dishes from this morning while I charged my phone. As I dug into the bag I saw $15 tucked away at the bottom. That sneaky girl. I smiled before plugging in my phone. It vibrated as it turned on and in minutes I had hundreds of missed calls and messages. Oh Shit.
