And The Snakes Start To Sing

1

&Austin&

I rolled out of bed, my hand slamming on the alarm as I grabbed a pair of jeans and a Slipknot shirt, getting to the bathroom and hopping into the shower. I got out just as quickly, getting dressed and grabbing my backpack. First day of twelfth grade, thankfully my last year. I ran down the stairs, hugging my mom quickly and grabbing my jacket and a bottle of water, walking to school slowly since I had the extra time. I reached the campus around 7:30, spotting my friend Alan and his girlfriend, Maddie. I waved to them, tugging my jacket around me a little tighter, ignoring Gielle's comments and her new boyfriend's insults. Fucking bitch is what she is, and I feel sorry for anyone to date her. I finally reached my friends, slinging my bag down and looking for my math homework, which was my first period. I pulled it out of my binder and lazily checked it over, feeling someone's eyes lock on me. I looked up and saw my long time bully, Oliver Sykes staring at me, with hate or what I couldn't tell but it unnerved me a lot, making all of Gielle's hateful comments from during and after our relationship rush back. Worthless. Useless. Good for nothing. Just give up on it, you'll never be good enough. Why are you such a fuck up? I tried to drown them out, but they just seemed to come back with more force. Thankfully, the bell rang, signalling the start of the day. I had Math, which I was passing with a fair grade considering I sucked at it, Art, Music Appreciation, and English, which I shared with Oliver. I had all afternoon as a free period today, which was good and bad. Good because I could leave campus for an hour, bad because that's when Oli's friends tortured me. Whenever he was around, all they did was insult me, or just left me alone, but without him I was a punching bag to the three of them. I hurried to my locker, tossing my backpack in before running down to Math, the only class I had with Alan. We were working through geometry problems and I needed his help. He was passing this class with flying colors. The day passed by in a slight blur, just like the school years before it had. All through English, I could feel eyes boring into my back, and once again it was Oliver. I tried to turn back to To Kill A Mocking Bird, but his unnervingly tense stare kept me off track. I packed up my things quickly, trying to avoid Oli's group and went out to the courtyard, book in hand. I was just getting into the book when someone roughly pulled me up, my eyes meeting with the cold orbs of Matthew Trek.
